Ram's Gate Winery, an Exceptional Experience
The folks Ram's Gate Winery refer to themselves as the Gateway to Sonoma and the Carneros wine region. It also leads to a full sensory experience with stunning views, architecture, and design, the aroma of the organic garden, the palate-pleasing culinary offerings, and, oh ya, the wine. It truly embodies the meaning of the nectar of the Gods. Ram's Gate Winery is like a spa without the massage tables and towels but just as relaxing. Managing Director David Oliver and winemaker Jeff Gaffner fill me in on its history and the experiences they yearn to offer their customers.

Harvest Wine & Food Fest
Harvest Wine & Food Festival is coming to South Walton in November, produced by Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation (DCWAF). The festival will provide patrons the opportunity to sip and savor some of the world’s finest wine and culinary selections while enjoying the iconic beach town of WaterColor. Like all of their events, the line-up of wineries confirmed to participate in the festival’s inaugural year is spectacular.
Silent auction registration is currently open. The auction will open on Friday at 6 pm and close Sunday at noon.
There will be a virtual paddle raise throughout the weekend to raise money for wildfire relief in Napa and Sonoma counties.
The paddle raise will be available throughout the festival through DCWAF’s official mobile bidding platform, 501 Auctions. Donation cards will also be available at each seat during Thursday’s Celebrity Winemaker Dinners hosted at Café Thirty-A, The Wine Bar- WaterColor, and Seagar’s Prime Steaks and Seafood.
Bidders do not need to have a ticket to the festival to participate in the virtual paddle raise and silent auction.
Industry superstar Alycia Mondavi of C. Mondavi & Family will be among those in attendance, pouring a variety of high-end wines from her family’s extensive portfolio.
“We are thankful to our friends at WaterColor for coming on board as our official venue and lodging sponsor for this extraordinary event benefiting children in need in Northwest Florida,” said Foundation President, John Russell.
Ticket will be available to purchase at the door for Friday and Saturday’s events, and prices will increase $15 on the day of the event. Weekend passes and lodging packages are also available.
Currently ranked #3 among all “Top Charity Wine Auctions in the U.S.” by Wine Spectator Magazine, Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation is one of the nation’s premier fundraising organizations, raising money for 15 Northwest Florida children’s charities that assist at-risk youth in the local community by tackling a variety of issues including homelessness, food insecurity, mental health, education, medical care and much more.
The festival kicks-off Thursday, November 2, 2017, with a variety of wine dinners held along Scenic Highway 30-A. Celebrity wine representatives from Gamble Family Vineyards, Rudd Oakville Estate and Magnolia Blossom will each headline a multi-course wine dinner in various locations in the South Walton area.
On Friday, November 3, the Al Fresco Reserve Tasting held at WaterColor Beach Club will offer festival-goers a selection of library wines that feature rare vintages not easily accessible to the average consumer. An array of perfectly paired hors d’oeuvres and live music all set to a breathtaking Gulf coast sunset will make for a memorable and elegant evening.
The Grand Tasting – held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 4 in WaterColor’s Cerulean Park – is the main event and is designed to highlight harvest season at the beach.
Large seafood, barbeque and provisional stations manned by celebrity chefs and complimented by the best restaurants along the Emerald Coast are combined with tasting stations featuring over 150 wines from around the world. Craft beer and spirit tents and an exclusive VIP experience will also be available.
“Guests should be prepared to taste their way through every staple of coastal cuisine ranging from freshly caught seafood to farm fresh vegetables and cheeses all the way to traditional smoked barbeque prepared by the south’s finest pit masters,” said Russell.
A silent auction featuring a variety of rare wines, staycations and unique experiences will open Friday, November 3, and will run through Sunday, November 5, at noon. The opportunity to purchase wine and other merchandise on-site will also be available throughout the festival.
ZD : California Wine with Tony
ZD Winery was founded in 1968 by Gino Zepponi and Norman DeLeuze, with the vision of producing world class wines.
In 1979 they purchased six acres of land on the Silverado Trail in Rutherford, Napa Valley and planted Cabernet Sauvignon.
In 1993 the vineyard tripled in size and in 1996 the de Leuze family purchased an historical, 33-acre vineyard in Carneros, and planted 26 acres of Chardonnay and seven acres of Pinot Noir.
ZD were at the forefront of the sustainable wine movement and use organic farming practices dating back to the early 1980's, and now produce award winning Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon.
