Friends I met at sea wondered what the Norwegian coast was like and so I made a few videos to show off the Norwegian coastline.

The small island has no more than 150 inhabitants, but from February to August every year the nesting season takes place and more than 500.000 birds gather on the island. It is the southernmost bird cliff in Norway. It is connected to the mainland with a bridge and is the home of some 500.000 to 700.000 seabirds. More than 220 species have been identified, but Runde is most famous for its puffins. Other species includes (bort) black-legged kittiwake, common guillemot, northern gannet, great skua and not least the white-tailed eagle. All in all it has more species represented than any other place in Scandinavia and ranges among the top bird watching spots in the world. The many shipwrecks in the ocean make Runde a feast for everyone interested in combining hiking with storytelling or diving. The hiking on the island is suitable for anyone. The easy walks and not least birdwatching will be a spectacular event for children and grown-ups alike. The paths across the top of the island are well marked, leading to the cliffs and the spectacular views of the birds and the ocean. Hiking and watching birds can be combined with a visit to the famous Runde lighthouse. There are several alternative routes, but expect the trip to last 2-3 hours from start to finish if you choose the shortest. The well marked paths leave no need for maps. Still, description of routes and birds are found in maps and books which can be bought in the accommodation facilities on the island, at the Tourist Information Office or by simply searching the web. Guides are available on request, and in summer season, boat trips are arranged frequently around the island to marvel at the cliffs, the birds and other marine life from the ocean.

SUBSCRIBE: - Let's visit Godøy which is a Viking island in Giske Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The island is famous for its beautiful nature, dominated by the 497-metre (1,631 ft) tall mountain Storhornet and the large lake Alnesvatnet.
The name Godøy stems back to the Viking age, and is derived from the name Gud øy, which translates to Island of God(s) in English. The current name Godøy can be loosely translated to Good Island.
Norway is a Scandinavian country encompassing mountains, glaciers and deep coastal fjords. Oslo, the capital, is a city of green spaces and museums. Preserved 9th-century Viking ships are displayed at Oslo’s Viking Ship Museum. Bergen, with colorful wooden houses, is the starting point for cruises to the dramatic Sognefjord. Norway is also known for fishing, hiking and skiing, notably at Lillehammer’s Olympic resort.

Every year this island is visited by tourists from all over the world - people going for fishing, mountain hiking, camping, staying at the northern lighthouse or photograph birds.

Ocean wave plant destroyed by winter storm
Ocean wave plant at Toftestallen in Øygarden outside Bergen - Norway was finished in 1985 but destroyed by a winter storm in 1988.
The tapchan wave plant consists of a sloping funnel shelved between narrowing walls (a tapered channel) that focuses the energy of incoming surge waves and transforms it into potential energy by bring seawater up a ramp and into of a reservoir built into the cliff a few meters above sea level. As the incoming waves move up the channel, they increase in height and eventually wash over the lip of the channel and into the reservoir. As the water is fed back to the sea through a pipe, the potential energy contained in the reservoir is converted into electrical energy by a generator.
When the weather is stormy it is a tremendous experience to stand at a safe distance from the foaming waves studying the frenzied ocean.

Runde- The Bird Island
Runde is an island in the municipality of Herøy in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The island has a population of 102 people, and it's connected by the Runde Bridge to the island of Remøya to the south.
Runde is famous for its enormous amount of birds. It is said that there are about 500,000 to 700,000 seabirds inhabiting the island, most of them are to be found in the cliffs. The Runde Environmental Centre (Runde Miljøsenter) is a research station at the bird island.
