Cadaques - A Romantic Village In Costa Brava, Spain (4K Video)
Travel to Cadaques, a reclusive, romantic village in Costa Brava, Spain. Only a few hours drive from Barcelona, Cadaques is most famously known as the home to Salvador Dali. Other prominent artists, including Pablo Picasso, and Joan Miró, also spent time here.
Today Cadaques is as much of a gastronomical attraction, as it is a cultural attraction. It is home to some of the best restaurants on Costa Brava.
During the summer the town fills with tourists from Spain, and France who come to enjoy the peace and tranquility of a quaint fishing village that offers crystal clear waters on the Mediterranean Sea.
Explore the vibrant colours of the flowers, sea, and sky during spring time in Cadaques.

CADAQUES, SPAIN - travel shorts
Facing the Mediterranean Sea at the head of a crystal clear bay, Cadaqués was a favourite of both Picasso and Salvador Dalí who were drawn to the area's incredible light and sea breezes. Cadaques remains a favourite spot for artists and is popular with weekenders from Barcelona and visitors from farther afield. The town has been developed carefully over the years and retains its charm. Most who discover it return again and again.

Spain by Road - Cadaques - descent from the North into the Town
In this video, part of the Spain by Road series, we descent into Cadaques from the north via the tortuous road from Figueres ending up in the big car park.
Great Mediterranean Coast Hike in Costa Brava, Spain | Day 7 - Cadaques - Cap de Creus Lighthouse
Explore the beauty of Mediterranean coast hiking with us! Discover the variety of landscapes and scenic beaches, its flora and fauna, historical places and small villages. These video series is devoted to the Catalonian part of it, starting from the French village Argelès-sur-Mer in Pyrénées-Orientales all the way to the Spanish village of Cadaqués and Cap de Creus cape on the Costa Brava. Immerse yourself in the peaceful holiday mood and we bet you'll find a place to put on your travel bucket list and to visit on your next vacation! Or even dare to do this hike yourself!
It was the last final day of our hike and the plan was to get to the Cap de Creus Lighthouse and explore the area around it. And so we did getting on the 6 km trail leading to the Lighthouse. The day was overcast and we were ok with it knowing how hot it could get hiking in the sun. But we were still hoping for some epic views and great photos. First part of the trail was going on the car road then turning to the dirt road and then finally to a mountain path. The road part wasn´t too long though. On the way there were lots of uphills and downhills and the path itself was very rocky and unstable in some points. But knowing that you´re already walking on peninsula and from all the sides you´re surrounded by water made this trail really special. Soon enough we started to see the lighthouse up on the mountain top and it looked quite impressive from far. When we got closer to it though it didn´t impress us as much but the place around it was absolutely breathtaking. All those incredible rock cliffs, turquoise water lagoons, seagulls resting and behaving like home and yachts drifting slowly in the sea made this place one in a kind eco system. There is so much variety of relief and rock formations that you can literally spend the whole week there just grasping all that beauty and photographing every corner with the guarantee that every shot is going to be different. So it is definetely a must visit for any passionate phtographer. And we were so dissapointed that we had so little time to spend and explore this place. So we´ll have to come back there at some point in the future. It is to be continued...

We are a couple who once fell in love with mountains and couldn't get back. So we decided to follow our heart and move from a big city to a small village to be able to do what we love and to create this content. Our goal is to promote the healthy lifestyle, to motivate people to travel more and care for nature around. We are passionate walkers who love hiking, trekking and camping. We offer the detailed information of our hikes and routes, including the map and all the directions, so that you can repeat it if you'd like to.
We choose walking over driving and other types of transportation whenever we can because we learnt that this way we see so much more and can explore and feel the place better. Walking is an excellent activity that has so many benefits to your health and requires no special equipment or practice, so we encourage you to get the most out of it and get out walking.

Great Mediterranean Coast Hike in Costa Brava, Spain | Day 6 - Port de la Selva-Cadaques
We had a beautiful start of the day having our breakfast at the scenic beach and watching the sun coming up right next to our camping Port de la Vall. The morning was beautiful and we tried to get on the trail as early as possible to escape the middle day heat. We walked through the beautiful white town Port de la Selva, saw the info board with the map of our trail and started our way uphill. We planned to follow the GR 92 route as it seemed to be the perfect trail in terms of distance and it was leading us right to our destination Cadaques. When we were out of the town and turned to the mountain path we entered right away in the Natural Park Cap de Creus with its rich flora and fauna. It claims to have deers, wild boars, lots of bird varieties and reptiles. And we were very excited to cross it today. The route continued to go up as we walked through the area with lots of built old rock walls on the hills that were probably serving for agricultural purposes in the past and looked like crazy amount or work. Then all of a sudden out from a bush we saw a huge lizard running towards the rocks. It was the longest lizard we've seen in our lives and probably was a variety of a monitor lizard. We got scared at first confusing it for a snake but then we were lucky to see another one and even got to film it. At one point the route became quite flat with very little ups and downs and so it was very easy to walk. If it wasn't the heat that was burning us from above and having a little to no shadow throughout the way was very hard. So this trail is better to do as early as possible in the day. We got a bit lost once confusing the routes as there are so many crossovers on the way, but then we realized that it's not a big deal as it was leading to Cadaques anyway. But you might want to have the navigation around in order to choose the shortest route and avoid going over extra mountains. Overall the trail was very picturesque and in spring when everything is blooming it's especially beautiful. We got to experience the feeling of going through enourmous mountain summit and being able to enjoy the mountains views and the views of the seaside on the other side. The place is very unique in its kind. So in the uplifted mood still having much energy left we were stepping into Cadaques...

From Cadaques to Cap De Creus in 5 Minutes
CADAQUES 2017
CADAQUES 2017
IN ENGLISH : CADAQUES is so lovely in my opinion preferably between end May & early September. Bright sunshine, blue sea, azure sky, bright white walls of houses & flowers of bougainvillea in full bloom. Cadaques is the first place in Spain to see the sunrise the morning. So we can say that in Spain the sun rises in Cadaques. The village is between Perpignan (FRANCE) & Barcelona (SPAIN). 57 kilometers of the border France/Spain, by the inland road, by the cities of Le Boulou, Le Perthus, La Jonquera, Figueras, Castello d'Empuries & Rosas. Or only 37 kilometers from the French-Spanish border, sea side, by the coastal road from Collioure, Port-Vendres, Banyuls, Cerbère, (French side) & Portbou, Llança & El Port de la Selva (Spanish side). But small winding road : nausea. Cadaques is really not far from Figueras (Dali museum) or Rosas (does not enter the downtown of Rosas, it's ugly). To go to Cadaques, just BEFORE the entry of Rosas, at the roundabout, must turn left, direction Cadaqués, by the mountain road (GI-614 road). 17 kilometers from Rosas. It is thanks to this mountain, which makes access so delicate, that Cadaques was able to protect itself from large tourism. Takes about 10 minutes by car to climb up the mountain. Once at the top, make no mistake of road, do not drive to El port de la Selva (the other white village in the area). Commit yourself well on the road to Cadaques. After 10 minutes then down, begins to reveal the steeple of the Santa Maria church. Leave your car at the main car park, at the village entrance, on the right. Useless to try to find a free parking space in a street. Then, from the main car park, you walk just a few moments on Caritat Serinyana avenue, you will soon arrive in the central square, front the beach : you're at the heart of Cadaques. On the right : the white building Casino. On the left : the shops and restaurants's alley (yum : pizza Capriciosa & Catalan cream at the restaurant Plaza. A beer San Miguel, Please!). On the left too, the blue House (Casa Blava). In the early 20th century a large number of inhabitants of Cadaqués emigrated to America (Cuba). Many of these immigrants were financially successful in Cuba & returned to Cadaqués where they constructed large houses. These houses can still be seen in the town. It should be well organized, to discover Cadaqués, for surely the village is small, but there are many alleyways/footpaths. You go getaway in love, book a room at Blaumar Hotel, my dream.
Cadaqués - Catalonia Tourism - Costa Brava - HD
The Costa Brava forms the most northerly stretch of the coast of Catalonia and one of the most beautiful in Spain. Right in the heart of Cap de Creus is Cadaqués, an area set in the unusual natural landscape of the steep hills that cut across the county of Alt Empordà before falling into the sea in the form of cliffs. This lovely village with seagoing routes has excellent beaches and tranquil coves with clear water which, together with an unbeatable tourist infrastructure, attracts anyone looking for a place to enjoy sun and sea. Its natural harbour and the natural quality of its sea offer the best conditions for practising all kinds of sports and aquatic activities, like diving, sailing or windsurfing.
The old town
At the head of Cadaqués bay rises the network of narrow cobbled streets and white houses making up the old town. Above the outline of the town, the image of the church of Santa María, a carefully restored church with a white façade, stands out, housing a magnificent Baroque style reredos. Modernist architecture, for its part, has left its distinctive imprint on some of the most notable buildings in the town, like the Casa Serinyena.
During the first decades of the 20th century, the town became an important European cultural centre. Many leading artists, like Picasso, Chagall and Klein, found their particular source of inspiration in this beautiful corner of the province of Gerona.
However, it was Salvador Dalí who gave Cadaqués international fame. The artistic genius spent long periods here during his childhood as well as establishing his home there. His house-musuem, beside Port Lligat bay, to the north of the town, enables you to get to know part of the extensive work of this master of Surrealism.
The wide cultural offer of Cadaqués ranges from its many museums and art galleries, like the Municipal Art Museum, which exhibits works by artists who maintained close links with Cadaqués, or the Perrot-Moore Museum, which brings together works of European graphic art, without forgetting the now traditional International Music Festival, which is held annually in the church of Santa María.

Cadaques - Cap De Creus - Spain
Cadaqués is the most well known village, home of artists and writers, with sophisticated atmosphere, near Port Lligat where Dalí built his home in a paradise small bay. (Dalí depicted the peninsula in his painting The Persistence of Memory.) El Port de la Selva, with a little fishing harbour, is less exploited, with good gastronomic recourses and pleasant terraces.
