Ruth and Paul Henning Conservation Area
Legacy from the creators of the Beverly Hillbillies
Covering 1,534 acres just northwest of Branson, the Ruth and Paul
Henning Conservation Area preserves one of the most scenic and
historic sites in Missouri.
The area was preserved largely through the efforts and generosity of
Ruth and Paul Henning, who donated or sold much of the preserve
to the state of Missouri. Paul Henning is best known as the creator of
several of America's most popular television series, including the
Beverly Hillbillies, Petticoat Junction and Green Acres. He also wrote
episodes of the Andy Griffith Show, the George Burns and Gracie
Allen Show and the 1988 film Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
Natives of Missouri, the Hennings maintained a life-long love for the
state, its scenery, culture and citizens. They helped establish the
conservation area to preserve the landscape for future generations.
The area protects a unique series of natural features called balds.
Open glades along the slopes and tops of the hills, the balds were
used as meeting places for post-Civil War vigilante groups known as
baldknobbers.
The area also preserves many locations featured in the classic
Herald Bell Wright book, Shepherd of the Hills. Among these are
Dewey Bald, Boulder Bald, Sammy Lane's Lookout and Little Pete's
Cave.
The Ruth and Paul Henning Conservation Area is located on
Highway 76 between Branson and Silver Dollar City. The paved
parking lot and associated overlook are wheelchair accessible and
provide fantastic views of the area. The trails themselves, however,
are strenuous in places.

Waterfall At Ruth And Paul Henning Conservation Area Near Branson, Missouri - April 28, 2018
Waterfall on a nature trail at Ruth and Paul Henning Conservation Area near Branson, Missouri. This is a seasonal creek. I’ve been there numerous times, but this is the first time the waterfall has been flowing. It’s a nice little hike that is free. It can be strenuous in a few places. If you decide to go, bring insect repellent because there are ticks in the woods, and from time to time the mosquitos are bad.

Oct 9 2011-Arcadia Valley.wmv
We drove south today to visit Taum Sauk Park and to hike a trail that led to the highest point in Missouri.
The foliage was absolutely gorgeous along the windy two lane roads we drove as we got lost tried to find the park. We drove to lookout tower first and got an amazing view of Missouri's wooded rolling hills. Then we took a short hike to the highest point in Missouri which is 1,772 feet above sea level. We then had a picnic in a lookout area where we could see hills up to 15 miles away.
This area used to be a large mining operation-some of these hills were known to be nearly 100% iron ore and folks from the St. Louis area would take the train to the valley for a nice break from the city. Scientists from all over the world would also come here to visit to see the mining operations.

Creek Crawling Pointe Royale Branson MO
My son and I went for a little crawl while on Vacation in Branson MO. He's driving a Redcat Racing Everest 10 stock (besides tires, battery relocation mod, and transmission flip) on 3s Lipo. I'm running an Axial SCX10 with Hobbywing wp1060 ESC, RC4WD 45T brushed motor, Power HD LW -20MG waterproof servo. This is the second run with a set of Flat Iron 1.9s. They were ok. I think they would be great trailing tires or mild crawl tires with a little weight. These had none.
Bare with me. It's the forest crawling video with the GoPro. Still trying to figure out the camera angles and editing.

Places to see in ( Branson - USA )
Branson is an Ozark town in southwest Missouri known as a family vacation destination. Its 76 Country Boulevard is famously lined with theaters, which once hosted mostly country music performers but today present diverse entertainment. Also along the strip are the Marvel Cave, the Wild West-style Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede Dinner Attraction and Silver Dollar City, an 1800s-themed amusement park with live music.
Branson has long been a popular destination for vacationers from Missouri and neighboring areas. The collection of entertainment theaters along 76 Country Boulevard (and to a lesser extent along Shepherd of the Hills Expressway), including Dolly Parton's Stampede, has increased Branson's popularity as a tourist destination. Branson now draws visitors from all regions of the country and even internationally.
Besides the numerous entertainment theaters for which Branson is famous, other local attractions include Hollywood Wax Museum Branson, Silver Dollar City, White Water, Mount Pleasant Winery, Curling Vine Winery, Ride the Ducks, Dolly Parton's Stampede, ziplines, cave tours, go-karts, mini golf, and more. Ripley's Odditorium is housed in a building that has been made to look as if it is cracked wide open by an earthquake or other disaster, while the Titanic Museum is a half-scale replica of the famous ship and iceberg.
Branson Landing opened in the summer of 2006 on the Lake Taneycomo waterfront in downtown Branson. The lakefront project includes retail space with Bass Pro Shops and Belk as anchors in an outdoor shopping mall of stores and restaurants. It also features a scenic boardwalk along the lakefront with the Branson Landing Fountains at the heart of the property as well as a Hilton Hotel. Branson Landing has been known to host summer concerts and other special events throughout the year. The convention center, situated between Branson Landing and Historic Downtown Branson, opened September 7, 2007. The Branson Scenic Railway is located in the old depot, across from Branson Landing.
Hokey Branson is a cheerfully shameless tourist resort. The main attractions are the more than 50 theaters hosting 100-plus country music, magic and comedy shows. The neon-lit '76 Strip' (Hwy 76) packs in miles of motels, restaurants, wax museums, shopping malls, fun parks and theaters. Drive just a few minutes out of town, however, and you'll find yourself in pristine Ozark wilderness.

Henning Conservation Area
On a warm March day my friend Kim and I discovered another Ozark jewel, Henning Conservation Area, just north of Branson. You know you are almost there when you see Sycamore Log Church. It is open to the public, so Kim played some old gospel songs on the piano. The parking area is right beside Roark Creek low water bridge. That river, and other spring fed tributaries on the property, were crystal clear, cool and fast moving. We took the 3.6 mile loop on the north side of the property through the woods on a trail nobody knows is how old. In this Conservation Area there are two shorter loops on the south side of HWY 76 that I haven't seen.
