Madison up close and fearless (yeah, right) at Taupo N.Z.
From this close-up aspect, so you can actually see the sweat happening. You can also hear the screams clearer AND much louder on this vid. There's even some girl-teen cussing. tsk, tsk.

Vlog 5: Sailing the Fearless on Lake Taupo to see the Mine Bay Maori Rock Carving New Zealand
Today we're at Lake Taupo going for a sail on the pirate ship Fearless.
You can, too! Book here:
The Fearless is a 36 foot ketch. Designed by American Lewis Francis Herreshoff. Launched in 1989, it's sailed all around the world. You'd never know it, but the Fearless sank when it hit a reef in Fiji. She's been lovingly restored and now she's ready for our Lake Taupo Sailing adventure.
This is David, Captain of the Fearless. He's spent 20 years sailing Lake Taupo, so there'll be no sinking on this voyage.
It's 45 minutes of smooth sailing before we reach our destination... the Mine Bay Maori Rock Carvings. Visible only by boat.
Sculpted by hand wearing nothing but speedos, Matahi Brightwell and four friends completed the carvings in 1980. The 14 meter tall face depicts his ancestor. Smaller sculptures also include a topless woman and a water dragon. The water dragon is Horomatangi, the guardian of Lake Taupo. Basically Taupo's Loch Ness Monster, and rumoured to take vengeance on anyone who dares disturb him, which takes us to our next activity... swimming!
I was the only one dumb enough.. I mean adventurous enough to jump in the cold water. Look at that form! Must be a 10 point dive ahead. Nope. I'm going to hide in shame.
Back on board, and fully dressed, it's time to relax on the long ride back. The sun is getting warm and I'm feeling sleepy. What a great trip. Definitely go.

Step aboard the Sail Barbary for Taupo's most Iconic Cruise to the renowned Maori Rock Carvings. Seeing Taupo's beautiful bays on the Sail Barbary gives you the perfect mix of relaxation, fun and adventure all at once.
On the boat, Coffee, tea and hot chocolate was included which was great because it can get quite cold when it is windy. I would recommend to put on warm clothes, even if it is a sunny day! Not only that, you can get warm with some beer as they do include it. You can bring your own booze as well!
The female skipper was so communicative and positive with Ryan and me. She was very informative as she went out of her way to ensure I knew and understood the history behind the Maori culture through the carvings we saw. Not only that, a female who takes us there is so sweet, communicative, and positive. I like it. It’s free drinks including beer or wine or coffee. Byob too. It’s real fun.
The boat is so pretty and all the guest are sitting on the top deck and there's warm ponchos provide if there is rain or wind. The boat sailed a very smooth and pleasing cruise. Psst. if you don't want to get wet, be sure to stay away from the front of the boat. =P
None of this would have been possible without Great Lake Taupo, NZ! They hosted and arranged me all of the trips below on a complimentary basis. That goes the same for Sail Barbary on Lake Taupo for their wonderful support. Not to mention Base Backpackers for their complimentary accommodations for our entire stay in Lake Taupo.
