The New Brunswick Adventures - season 1 episode 6 Saint John River Valley
St. John River Spring Flood New Brunswick Canada 2018 #NBFlood2018
©DerekGrantDigital.com ~ Running watery, road-blocked gauntlets, towns submerged, man walks his dog along an old train bridge - converted to path over an engorged river, a century church seemingly afloat in sea of water, a covered bridge lays submerged and surrounded by a freak spring freshet, lighthouses swimming .... are some of the sights observed in this event and by aerial drone.
----
In spring of 2018 an epic flood occurred
along the St. John River Valley and it's tidal tributaries causing catastrophic damage and hardship to the landowners, flora and fauna in it's pathway - the likes of which have not been experienced before in this region. In this video I have tried to capture the impact of this disaster and in contrast to the unique natural beauty that this lesser seen area of the world has to offer - even it's not so brightest hours. Dedicated to the good people of NB & in hopes for a swift recovery and timely financial support from any and all applicable avenues. Thanks for watching!

BEFORE THE DAM The St. John River Valley
Hundreds forced from homes as St. John River rises in New Brunswick
The St. John River hit a new peak overnight in Fredericton: 8.3 metres, just shy of its all-time high. While the worst may be over upstream, those downstream are still bracing for floodwaters to arrive.

Old St. John A dedication to St. John, N.B. By: Robert Ayles
Old St. John, a dedication to Roberts place of birth and early years of his life. Robert Ayles is a resident of Toronto for the better part of his life. He makes regular visits to the city of his youth. This song is a story of one such visit while crossing the miramichi river Robert wrote down some words to express his feelings.

As I cross the miramichi
old time memories come back to me.
Lovers I had and lovers I lost
I played the games despite the cost.
I have no regrets of things of the past
for you see that I am home at last.
wanderlust, and thoughts of fame
that's all over now I'm back again.
Following my roots, that cannot be denied
so many years I sat and wondered why.
That's all over now I know where I belong
back on the streets of old St. John.
So as I cross that Miramichi
every memory comes back to me.
I have no regrets of things of the past
for you see that I am home at last.
Reversing Falls (Rapides Réversibles) @ Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada.
Link to images:
The Reversing Falls are a series of rapids on the Saint John River located in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, where the river runs through a narrow gorge before emptying into the Bay of Fundy.
The diurnal tides of the bay force the flow of water to reverse against the prevailing current at this location when the tide is high, although in the spring freshet, this is frequently surpassed by the downstream volume of water. The rapids, or falls, are created by a series of underwater ledges which roil the water in either direction, causing a significant navigation hazard, despite the depth of water.
