Kyoto shopping streets, Sannenzaka, Ninenzaka, Kiyomizuzaka, Japan travel video
In Kyoto, Japan, we're going shopping on the lanes near two major temples, Kiyomizu-dera and Ginkaku-ji. There are some small shops inside the temple but the main action for shopping is outside on the pedestrian lane leading up to the temple as you find typically throughout Japan. A main temple has a shopping street leading to it, something like the inevitable gift shop at the exit of the museum.
Ceramics are one of the very popular items for sale here and they are made not only in Japan but a lot of it is made right in the Kyoto area, it's a local specialty.
Of course you'll find all of the typical items for sale: fans, trinkets, miniature samurai figures and figurines. You can buy handbags and purses made from kimono material. Perhaps a Japanese print or a painting to hang on your wall. But some careful shoppers have noticed the prices on these touristic lanes are little higher than you'll find in downtown and the selection is pretty much the same everywhere, so keep that in mind. But when you're shopping, if you see something you love, just get it. You might never find it again.
It's a fun diversion on your way up to the temple to shop along the way to Ginkaku-ji, but really the shopping lane over by Kiyomizu-dera is hard to beat.
Sannenzaka Ninenzaka, Kyoto, HD Experience
Sannenzaka Ninenzaka (二念坂・産寧坂) is an authentic ancient Japanese street leading down from Kiyomizu-dera Temple to the main road in a long slope with steps. There are all kinds of antiquities on sale here from traditional Japanese kimonos and other clothing, to Green Tea, takoyaki, and other such foods. It is always very crowded with tourists, but I did manage to spot a few Geisha!
Walking around Higashiyama in Kyoto Japan - Kiyomizu-dera, Ninenzaka, Sannenzaka, Yasaka Pagoda 【4K】
Kyoto (京都市) was Japan's capital for over a thousand years, and was the center of Japanese art, religion, architecture and political power. The accumulated treasures of that long history are well preserved in the city today, making it one of Japan's most visited cities.
Higashiyama (東山区 meaning east mountain) is one of the eleven wards in the city of Kyoto, in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. Many of the locations central to the development of 15th-century Japanese culture known as Higashiyama Bunka are found here or in Sakyō-ku. Both the entertainment district of Gion in front of Yasaka Shrine, and the area around the stone-paved roads Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka that lead up to the World Heritage Kiyomizu-deraTemple, enjoy protected status to preserve the traditional style buildings.
Kiyomizu-dera Temple (清水寺) was built in the 8th century and was destroyed by fire. This temple was reconstructed in the 17th centruy to represent traditional structures in Kyoto.

☆Bits of knowledge〜Sanneizaka Nineizaka 〜
Just downhill from and slightly to the north of Kiyomizu-dera, you will find one of Kyoto’s loveliest restored neighbourhoods, the Ninen-zaka–Sannen-zaka area. The name refers to the two main streets of the area: Ninen-zaka and Sannen-zaka, literally ‘Two-Year Hill’ and ‘Three-Year Hill’ (the years referring to the ancient imperial years when they were first laid out). These two charming streets are lined with old wooden houses, traditional shops and restaurants.
If you fancy a break, there are many tea houses and cafes along these lanes.

[4K Kyoto Vlog] Walking Ninenzaka to Kiyomizu-Dera Kyoto UNCUT 4K #1 二年坂から清水寺へ歩いた
==== Hi/こんにちは/Hora/Jak se mas! ===
I'm Sashi, a vlogger and software engineer from Canada. I'm Japanese and I lived in Japan until 20 but moved to Canada and studied Computing Science at university. I make videos about fitness, travel, photography, dogs/cats, and anything Japanese. I love Japanese, Thai, and Vietnamese foods. I also love travelling and making travel videos.
I have travelled to New Zealand, U.S., Thailand, Philippines, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Ukraine, and Poland. I have studied abroad in three countries: NZ, Canada, and Czech. I learned English, Spanish, and Czech.
I knew life was too short to complain about things I wanted to but couldn't because of naive excuses. After realizing and fully internalizing that life is really too short and I could die tomorrow, I decided to create this YouTube channel to explore, share, and express what I want and like.
Since I'm a native Japanese who graduated from a Canadian university and have worked at major tech companies in Canada & US, I can share my thoughs and ideas about Japan, Canada, US, and some european countries I've lived.

Ninenzaka Street - Kyoto ᴴᴰ ● 二年坂 京都
► This is Ninenzaka street! A cozy little street, located in eastern part of Kyoto, nearby the famous Kiyomizu-dera Temple.
It's a great place for a walk, with its many old beautiful buildings, great shops with traditional handicrafts, little cafes, tea shops, etc
- Everything oozes classic Japan, it's a perfect place to experience Japanese culture first hand, and despite the large number of tourists, the place still maintains a local and unspoiled feeling to it. - Enjoy!

My Favourite Part of Kyoto | Photography in Japan
Photography in Japan has just been a treat. And on today's vlog we went to my favourite part of Kyoto: Hokanji.
Check out my Japan Photography on IG at @brendanvanson.
Hokanji, in the old town of Kyoto, is one of the best photography locations in all of Japan. There are people wandering around dressed in kimonos which make for great street photos. There is even the occasional Geisha wandering about as well. But, from a travel perspective, there is a great line of Hokanji temple which makes for a beautiful composition.
Photography in Japan is a treat, but in the busy season it's also really, well, busy. During the cherry blossoms there seem to be double the usual crowds, and that does make it a little bit of a challenge. But, it's worth it. The photos of Japan that I've take so far have been among my favourites. It's just been such an amazing country to get the camera out. And, this Hokanji area of Kyoto is one of my favourite spots.
Tomorrow, there's another Japan vlog as we still have a couple days left in Kyoto.
