Santoña is a town in the eastern coast of the autonomous community of Cantabria, on the north coast of Spain. Santona is situated by the bay of the same name. Santona is 45 kilometres from the capital Santander.
Santoña is divided into two zones, an urban plain, and a mountainous area, with Mount Buciero at its eastern limit, and Brusco and the beach of Berria to the north. The beach of San Martin comprises its south limit and the fishing harbor and marsh area its western limit.
Santoña was known in the Middle Ages with the name of Port or Port of Santoña , and is contained in many documents. The municipality is surrounded almost in its totality by the Cantabrian Sea ; Bordered to the north by Berria beach , to the south by San Martin beach, to the east by Mount Buciero and to the west by the municipalities of Argoños , Escalante and Bárcena de Cicero . In this orientation are located the fishing port and the new marina section and the Santoña marshes, which together with those of Victoria and Joyel constitute the Natural Reserve of Santoña, Victoria and Joyel Marismas .

Santoña is a town in the eastern coast of the autonomous community of Cantabria, on the north coast of Spain. It is situated by the bay of the same name. It is 45 kilometres from the capital Santander.
The history of Santoña has always been linked to the sea, to such an extent that it is the Cantabrian's major canning port. Its industry is based above all on the commercialization of tuna and its famous anchovies in olive oil.
Santoña is divided into two areas: the town centre, which sits on a plain, and a mountainous area on the slopes of El Brusco and El Buciero. The history of the town is linked to the Monastery of Santa María del Puerto, which later gave rise to the Romanesque church of Santa María del Puerto.
It was built between the 13th and 17th centuries and houses a reredos of San Bartolomé with Flemish paintings from the 15th century. Equally significant are its military fortifications, grouped around the mountain of Buciero, which is evidence of the strategic importance of the port. Still in good condition are the forts of San Martín, San Carlos and Mazo or Napoleon.

Esta semana parece que las borrascas ocupan todos los titulares, primero fue Gabriel y ahora Helena. De lo que no cabe duda es que dejan imágenes impresionantes, como este video del paseo marítimo de Santoña (Cantabria).

La imagen es muy impactante, no solo por la altura que alcanza la ola, sino que también se puede ver a una persona que estaba en el paseo correr para que no le coja el agua.
