Funding announced for $2.7 million Saumarez Homestead improvements
Armidale Regional Council, Saumarez Homestead and the National Trust are celebrating confirmation of a $1.77 million NSW Government grant to construct five-star accommodation at the homestead. The announcement by Deputy Premier John Barilaro and Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall, for a $2.7 million project jointly funded by Council and the National Trust, is a huge boost for tourism in the Armidale Region and the ability for Australians to experience their nation's history.
As well as contributing $730,000 to upgrade the internal road and other infrastructure, Council worked closely with Saumarez Homestead management to prepare and submit the State funding application.
