Scarborough Lily at San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden
The Scarborough Lily (Cyrtanthus elatus) is a gorgeous bulb from the Amaryllidaceae family. Originating in South Africa, this perennial has leaves reaching 1-2 feet in height with higher flower stalks. It's great for borders, bulb beds, and containers in full sun or shade. Flowers are bright red-orange to salmon, and occasionally white, blooming summer to fall; leaves are evergreen and glossy green. Requires medium water except when dormant in spring and winter (don't let it dry out!) and does best in well-drained, enriched soil. This plant is deer resistant and easily pruned. Simply remove dead leaves and leave the bulbs in place, or split the bulbs and replant if they become overcrowded to encourage flowering. This plant is frost sensitive, but can tolerate temperatures down to 25 degrees F.

Join The Warden Family this week in Scarborough Tobago. Scarborough is the largest town and capital of the island of Tobago, part of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. It's population is around 17,000 and the town of Scarborough serves as the main seat of the Tobago House of Assembly, which is responsible for local governance. The town is dominated by Fort King George, an 18th-century fortification named after King George III which now hosts a historic_archaeological museum. After a day on the town, take a trip back to the hotel if you're interested in a great place to stay. Welcome to Scarborough Tobago! Enjoy the video! thewardemfamily.com
