Science Museum, Chiyoda Tokyo

◆ ◆ The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo
The National Museum of Modern Art (MOMAT) was the first national art museum in Japan. The museum owns a collection of contemporary artworks from the Meiji Era (1868 – 1912) all the way to the present. Japan was a closed country until the beginning of the Meiji era, but after Japan opened to the West, many young Japanese artists went abroad to study art in Europe. The Japanese painting style mixed with the influences of foreign art is very unique and interesting!
Don't miss the view from the 'Room with a view'. From here, you can see the moat and some parts of the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace.
Also, starting in spring 2019, MOMAT guide staff do guided tours through the collection of the museum in English!
◆ ◆ National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo – Crafts Gallery
The Crafts Gallery owns a huge collection consisting of numerous Japanese ceramics, glassware, lacquerware, dyed fabrics and graphic design lined up from the Meiji Era (1868-1912) to the present age. Pieces from the collection are shown in unique theme exhibitions. Also, the Crafts Gallery is designated as an important cultural asset.
※The crafts gallery will close and move to Ishikawa Prefecture from March 2020.
◆ ◆ Science Museum
The Science Museum is one big playground. The building has 5 fully packed floors where you can dive into science and learn something new. The exhibition is designed for all ages – there is something for everyone, from children to adults. It’s a great place to deepen your understanding of science while playing or watching some live experiments in the lab. Don't miss this wonderful museum!!
◆ ◆ National Archives of Japan
Opened in 1971, the National Archives of Japan is the place where Japanese historical materials and important official documents are preserved. Since you can also visit the facility, please stop by and visit the permanent exhibitions and special exhibitions. It’s a recommended facility not only for those who want to learn more about Japanese history but also for researchers!
In addition, you can access parts of the collections online. The archive is especially proud of the web version of its huge Genroku map of Japan, which is an Important Cultural Properties . A must-see!

Heading for the Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum from Tokyo Station through Marunouchi Naka-dori
An exhibition featuring the English painter Edward Burne-Jones is going on at the Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum, Tokyo. I'm interested in him so I went there starting from Tokyo Station. It has been renovated for a long time but before long it's going to be completed. On my way to the museum I walked Marunouchi Naka-dor. I love this street because here and there you can see sculptural works. They make you feel as if you were already in the museum.
Creepy Robots at Miraikan || Odaiba
Creepy, interesting, and out of this world exhibits at the Miraikan. Basically translated as the 'future museum.' Why they had ninjas? I'm not sure but it was the most fun I've had at a museum!
The ninja exhibit is only a limited time so please go while you can! Great for kids too!
Don't forget to download the app as well and check out Jenny's channel because she does all the voice overs for the app! My phone was dying from checking Pokemon Go so often so I didn't download it this time! Sorry!~

Child android starts work at Tokyo science museum
A museum in Tokyo presents its two latest recruits, a child and an adult android, that have been developed by Osaka University
A museum in Tokyo presented its two latest recruits on Tuesday, two androids that have been developed by Osaka University.
The life-like Kodomoroid (a child android) and Otonaroid (an adult android) were introduced by their creator, Dr Hiroshi Ishiguro of Osaka University, at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation.
Human is the most ideal medium or form that humans can easily relate to, as there are so many functions in the human brain. As technology develops, the form of many devices will be closer to that of human form, said Dr Ishiguro.
The robots are made with silicon skin and artificial muscles to achieve a realistic human likeness.
The aim of the humanoids, which were unveiled at the start of a major new permanent exhibition showcasing cutting-edge robotics, was to encourage interaction between humans and robots and explore what differentiates the two.
