Richard III of England
Richard III (2 October 1452 -- 22 August 1485) was King of England for two years, from 1483 until his death in 1485 in the Battle of Bosworth Field. He was the last king of the House of York and the last of the Plantagenet dynasty. His defeat at Bosworth Field, the last decisive battle of the Wars of the Roses, symbolises the end of the Middle Ages in England. He is the subject of the play Richard III by William Shakespeare.
When his brother Edward IV died in April 1483, Richard was named Lord Protector of the realm for Edward's son and successor, the 12-year-old King Edward V. As the young king travelled to London from Ludlow, Richard met and escorted him to lodgings in the Tower of London where Edward V's brother Richard joined him shortly afterwards. Arrangements were made for Edward's coronation on 22 June 1483, but before the young king could be crowned, his father's marriage to his mother Elizabeth Woodville was declared invalid, making their children illegitimate and ineligible for the throne. On 25 June, an assembly of lords and commoners endorsed the claims. The following day, Richard III began his reign, and he was crowned on 6 July 1483. The young princes were not seen in public after August, and a number of accusations circulated that the boys had been murdered on Richard's orders, giving rise to the legend of the Princes in the Tower.

RICHARD III of ENGLAND - WikiVidi Documentary
Richard III was King of England from 1483 until his death in 1485, at the age of 32, in the Battle of Bosworth Field. He was the last king of the House of York and the last of the Plantagenet dynasty. His defeat at Bosworth Field, the last decisive battle of the Wars of the Roses, marked the end of the Middle Ages in England. He is the subject of the historical play Richard III by William Shakespeare. When his brother King Edward IV died in April 1483, Richard was named Lord Protector of the realm for Edward's eldest son and successor, the 12-year-old Edward V. Arrangements were made for Edward's coronation on 22 June 1483; but, before the young king could be crowned, the marriage of his parents was declared bigamous and therefore invalid, making their children officially illegitimate and thus barring them from inheriting the throne. On 25 June, an assembly of Lords and commoners endorsed a declaration to this effect and proclaimed Richard the rightful king. The following day, Richar...

Drive Down Links Road Golf Course St Andrews Fife Scotland
Tour Scotland video of a July late afternoon drive down Links Road by the 18th Hole of the Old Golf Course on visit to St Andrews, Fife. The Old Course at St Andrews is one of the oldest golf courses in the world and is a public course over common land. It is considered by many to be the home of golf because the sport was first played on the Links at St Andrews in the early 15th century. Golf was becoming increasingly popular in Scotland until in 1457, when James II of Scotland banned golf because he felt that young men were playing too much golf instead of practicing their archery. The ban was upheld by the following kings of Scotland until 1502, when King James IV became a golfer himself and removed the ban

RS Aero UK Youth Winter Training, Datchet, Feb 2019 - Port End
COMPETING FOR THE PORT END - video by George Cousins
30 young RS Aero sailors enjoyed an exciting blustery weekend of training at Datchet, the 4th in the series of 6 winter training weekends for the RS Aero Rooster Youth Team. Analysis;
- 1312 showed good pro-activity. Initially sailing out of a likely OCS situation. Could he have stopped a couple of boat lengths earlier (in front of 2552) to remain able to lay the pin? Then trying to double tack up when he realised he was not laying the pin. Ultimately he got stung from being out of position twice late in the sequence.
- 2552 might have had good positioning and won the pin if there had been no other boats there. However with 5 sailors to leeward of him trying to make it work there was always a good chance that someone would take him out. Too much risk for the chance of a little extra reward? Ultimately he suffered a touch of Frost.
- Good positioning and holding of position by 2442 and 2725 who just escaped the pin melee.
- Great acceleration by 2442, 2725 and 1809 at 0:37, just as the gun went.
- 2442 wins the start with 2725, 1809 also up there on his shoulder - just behind due to the line bias but with good speed and avoiding falling into a lee-bow effect.
- 2105, and likely 1568 too, appear to be OCS, Ladies first! The advanced mid line position that 1312 was seeking to avoid.
- 1705, 1108 and 'No Numbers' - need to be instigating their escape strategy as soon as it is clear they are not going to be able to sail off the port end. You need to know how long that takes and plan accordingly. 2545 is the first to bail out and you can see his advantage from doing it before the others.
