Editing Service: Scuba Diving in Capri, Italy
A short highlights video I edited for a client after they brought back their underwater GoPro footage from scuba diving in Capri, Italy.
I see so many people with GoPros diving these days and the comment I always hear is I have the footage but don't know what to do with it now - and that's the problem. It's easy to shoot loads of video, but when you get home do hobbyists have the ability to turn it into something fun and entertaining? Often not.
That's why I am now offering a seriously affordable, simple editing service to turn people's footage into something shareable. and something you can look back on for years to come. This includes music, color correction, digital stabilization and subtitles if desired - above or below water! Contact me if you're interested :)

Scuba Dive @ Sardinia, Italy
Sardinia is a surprising diving destination! A Mediterranean island, it is located south of Corsica and to the west of Italy. What is fascinating here is how pristine the water is! Just enough to have this endless and everchanging 'blue feeling' most divers dream about! The seashores are mostly granite rocks sculpted by Neptune and Aeolus, Gods of the Sea and the Winds, over the millennia. The Maddalena Archipelago National Park is highly important in regards to history as it protects several fragile Roman shipwrecks, thousands of years old, and is one of the Mediterranean sea's best kept marine reserves. On one of its islands, Guiseppe Garibaldi (one of the Fathers who unified Italy) settled from 1854 untill his death in 1882.
Sardinia is at its best for diving in the summer months. Take your time and explore the islands of Quirra, Serpentara and Cavoli, but also Tavolara off Porto San Paolo. Find out about the shipwreck 3 Fratelli (or 3 Brothers), the wreck in the Gulf of Angeli or the dive site Sacca del Papa (or The Pope's Drop-off), probably one of the best dive sites you'll ever dive in the Med! As a matter of fact most of the places here are well above your average dive sites...
With caves and densely populated drop-offs, Sardinia won't let you down! Though the visibility is often so good that you can lose track of your depth: watch your instruments and have fun!

Scuba Diving in Italy
“One. I don’t speak English.” The Italian scuba inscrutor told me as I entered the water. He was a short man with short dark hair and had started scuba diving probably before I was even born. I felt safe in his presence even if there was a language barrier.
The wet suit felt snug around my face so that when I talked it felt like I had ear plugs in. Next I put on the mask which felt like someone was plugging my nose shut. I was three steps away from sensory deprivation.
Now, for starters, I get claustrophobic very easily which usually leads to quick, intense, anxiety. And at this point I was beginning to feel it setting on. I didn’t like my face being covered and I definitely didn’t like my senses being cut off.
He explained a few hand signals. A thumbs up meant “go up; there’s a problem,” and putting your thumb and index finger in a circle meant “OK.”
I put the mouthpiece in my mouth and dunked my head under. I couldn’t breathe. I didn’t breathe. I was too afraid to inhale. Instinctively my brain kept telling me, “you’re underwater! You can’t breathe underwater!”
Anxiety soon rushed over me. My heart began racing. And my mind instantly became filled with flashbacks of the time I almost drowned in the Clarion River during college.
I pulled my head up. “I don’t like it.” I said.
“No, no. No problem. No problem.” That’s pretty much all my instructor could say is “no problem.” However, listening to someone reassure me that there is “no problem” did calm me down quite a bit.
I dunked my head under again but this time I started inhaling before my face hit the water and continued as I went under. I felt okay but it still felt uncomfortable breathing underwater. Being that I am a human, underwater breathing did not come naturally to me.
Slowly, I became more comfortable. The instructor held up the OK symbol in front of me. And I reciprocated.
We went a little bit deeper. And once again, panic set in. I think this was due to not having control. I was only 2 meters (6 feet) under the water. Now, I have swam this deep before on my own but when I’m swimming regularly, I can, at any moment swim up to the surface with no problem. However, with scuba diving you cannot do this due to having several pounds of gear and a heavy tank strapped to your back. Instead, you are relying on a device that you must inflate with air to bring you to the surface.
I gave my instructor a thumbs up indicating to return to the surface.
“Problem?” he asked.
“No. Just fear.” I simply stated even though he didn’t understand.
“No problem.” He repeated in his thick Italian accent. “Okay? Okay.”
We went under again. By this time I was able to calm my nerves and focused on my breath. Before long it became like yoga breathing. Calm, slow, long breaths.
Now I was calm. I reached a meditative state underwater. All I could hear was bubbles leaving my mouth and the air being released from the tank into my mouth.
At the end of it all I would say that I need to try scuba diving at least a couple more times to say that I fully concurring my fear but this was definitely a good start.
ITALY: GREAT WHITE SHARK SIGHTED OFF COAST OF RIMINI
Natural Sound
Italian authorities have closed beaches around the coastal resort of Rimini after the sighting of a great white shark.
The 18-foot (six-metre) shark was first captured on video by a local fisherman.
And swimmers haven't dipped a toe into the water since the footage was first shown on local television.
Swimmers have wasted no time vacating beaches near Ancona on the Adriatic.
Authorities closed thirty miles (48 kilometres) of Italian coastline on Saturday, and they've had no trouble keeping swimmers away since then.
The No Swimming signs went up after the sighting of a great white shark 15 miles (25 kilometres) off the coast in deep water last week.
It is the first such sighting of the great white in the Adriatic -- a species which gained notoriety after its starring role in the film 'Jaws'.
In contrast this amateur film, shot by local fisherman Stefano Catalani and his 10-year- old son Nicola, shows the great white attacking the Catalani's 30-foot (10-metre) boat.
After seizing a container of bait, the shark devours a smaller sand shark, then circles the Catalani's boat.
Since Saturday, Italian authorities have tried to reassure bathers that sharks rarely attack humans and prefer deep water -- although some experts believe those reassurances are promoted by tour operators.
The great white is expected to hang around the coastal resort of Rimini until he finds something to eat, then head north to Po delta.
Experts predict that the great white sharks, as they follow shoals of smaller fish, will reach British waters within the decade.
