Coast Guard crews conducted a long-range medevac of a man from a Military Sealift Command Vessel approximately 1,150 miles from Dutch Harbor, Alaska, May 6, 2018. A helicopter crew from U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak, deployed aboard the Cutter John Midgett, safely landed on the MSC vessel and embarked the man for follow-on transport to Adak, Alaska. He was transferred to awaiting emergency medical personnel for further transport to Anchorage. U.S. Coast Guard video.

450-pound seal removed from Alaska airport runway
A 450-pound (204 kg) seal wandered onto the runway of the airport in Alaska's northernmost city Utqiagvik (commonly known by its former name Barrow) on 23 October and had to be removed using a sled. The seal is said to have strayed from a nearby sea during a heavy winter storm.

US Coast Guard - Rescue at Sea
Watch the U.S. Coast Guard rescuing three people from two distressed sailboats in high seas near Cape Hatteras using an air raft from a HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter. Scenes include the air crew hoisting the three sailors into the helicopter, the helicopter landing and the resued sailers being transported to an ambulance.
