Sensoji Temple (浅草寺) in Asakusa, Tokyo Metropolis, Japan
坂東観音巡礼 第13番 浅草観音 浅草寺
Sensoji Temple is a beautiful city temple in the Asakusa district of Taito ward in Tokyo. Asakusa is a district that is known for it's ancient heritage and the beautiful Sensoji temple. The magnificent new landmark of Tokyo, Tokyo Sky Tree is close by across the Sumida river.
Sensoji temple is the most visited temple in the entire Kanto region. The temple is not only beautiful but also close to the center of the Tokyo city and easily accessible.
Many of the buildings in the premises like the Hondo and the gates have been restored and rebuilt many times. There is a five storied pagoda in the premises and it has been recently rebuilt in the 1970s, as the original pagoda that was built in the ninth century has been burned down and other rebuilds have been destroyed during World War II.
Sensoji Temple is number thirteenth in the Bando (33 Kannon Temples of Kanto region) pilgrimage circuit.
All and all this is a beautiful temple, hope you get a chance to visit it, during your trips to Japan.

After that, I was walking and passing through Hozomon (宝蔵門) and Hondo (本堂) Main Hall (Japanese Buddhism) of Senso-ji (浅草寺). And then I came back to Kaminarimon (雷門). It was about 25 minutes of walking, but it was absolutely worth for it. It’s in Japan took by Apple iPhone XS Max 【4K video Dual OIS Dual 12MP rear cameras】

Tokyo Sky Tree and Sensoji Temple Pagoda Side by Side, Tokyo, Japan
Tokyo Sky Tree is the tallest man made tower in the world at over 600 meters in height. Sensoji Temple Pagoda is a five story pagoda (much smaller than Tokyo Sky Tree) is located in the Sensoji Temple in Asakusa in Taito Ward. Sensoji Temple's pagoda is an excellent example of how the Pagodas are built in the old Japan, to withstand the test of time and natural calamities like earthquakes.
Sensoji Temple is located in Taito Ward (Asakusa) and Tokyo Sky Tree is located in the neighboring Sumida Ward. Both are separated by Sumida River.
This video shows an example of how the old and the new, exist in perfect in Harmony in Japan.
Hope you enjoy the video!!!

JAPANTRIPGUIDE「Sensoji (Asakusa Kannon Temple) 浅草寺」Taito-ku, Tokyo 2015.4.8
Sensoji (浅草寺, Sensōji, also known as Asakusa Kannon Temple) is a Buddhist temple located in Asakusa. It is one of Tokyo's most colorful and popular temples.
The legend says that in the year 628, two brothers fished a statue of Kannon, the goddess of mercy, out of the Sumida River, and even though they put the statue back into the river, it always returned to them. Consequently, Sensoji was built nearby for the goddess of Kannon. The temple was completed in 645, making it Tokyo's oldest temple.

“Joya-no-kane (除夜の鐘)” Bells on New Year's Eve is one of the annual event to be held from New Year’s Eve to New Year in Japanese Buddhism. It is an event to strike a temple bell around 12:00 pm on New Year's Eve (December 31). There are various opinions, but it is believed that people have 108 worldly desires, so Bells on New Year's Eve is struck 108 times to brush off those at many temples.

Japan Trip 2018 - Day 11 - Asakusa, Sensoji Temple, Shibuya
Today was the day that I headed to Akihabara and did the Mario Kart Go Kart Tour! Check out the video here
After that I headed to Asakusa and met up with the family at Sensoji Temple which is Tokyo's oldest temple. There were plenty of people there taking photos of the large lantern hanging from the Kaminarimon Thunder Gate at the front of the Nakamise-dori street approach to the temple.
Outside of the temple we were lucky to witness the Kinryu no mai or Golden Dragon Dance which is the main event at the Honzon Jigen-e ceremony celebrating the day Shokanzeon Bosatsu, the deity of enshrined in Sensoji Temple, manifested (jigen) to the world in 628 in the form of a golden dragon descending from the sky, creating overnight a grove of a thousand pines - a symbol of the wordly benefit of a rich harvest. The dance is named after Mt. Kinryu-zan, the honorific name prefixed to Sensoji Temple.
Afterwards we headed to Shibuya and I hit up the Taito Station Games arcade. Filled with smoke, video games and some of the craziest skilled players you'll ever see, it was a typical arcade but spread over two levels. The basement was dark and there were heaps of games but sadly no Street Fighter which I was willing to get whipped at by a local Japanese player.
The ground level arcade is more of the same but this time a lot brighter and filled with a lot more prize machines filled with stuffed toys and anime figurines.
