Seongsan Ilchulbong Jeju Island - 성산일출봉 (Sunrise Peak)
Thank you for watching my video on Seongsan mountain 성산일출봉, which is also known as sunrise peak. Seongsan mountain (sunrise peak) is a very popular destination for sight seers and tourists. It's a quick, but steep hike up with beautiful views of the ocean and the surrounding area of Seongsan. If you visit Jeju Island, definitely check it out!

JEJU ISLAND, SOUTH KOREA: SEONGSAN ILCHULBONG PEAK
Eric and I vacationed on Jeju Island, South Korea for 3 days. Our mission was to explore as many UNESCO World Heritage sites and waterfalls as possible. In this video, our first stop was visiting Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak, a UNESCO World Heritage site. On the day we went it was cloudy, but the views on Jeju Island, South Korea were still breathtaking especially with the drone footage I got with my new dji mavic pro.
We both discovered our passion for travel, beginning with our destination wedding in Jamaica. This year we made a goal of traveling to 30 countries before the end of 2018. We made the decision while living in Korea this past year when we decided to create a YouTube channel and vlog our experience not only as expats, but from the perspective of Amanda reuniting with her biological family as a Korean adoptee.

Seongsan Ilchulbong, Jeju, South Korea
Seongsan Ilchulbong (성산 일출봉), or Sunrise Peak, is an archetypal tuff cone that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Jeju Island, South Korea.
Overlooking Seongsan Village, Seongsan Ilchulbong is located on the eastern side of Jeju Island. To get to the peak, one must climb up a series of steps, which can be rather steep at certain points.
The view from the top is worth the steep climb, providing a wonderful bird's-eye view of the sea and the land. Be wary that winds are very strong at this point.

SOUTH KOREA | Hiking in the New Year at Seongsan Ilchulbong in Jeju
I took a little video hiatus over December because my day job has been kicking my ass and we've been crazy busy over the holidays but I am back for the New Year with a new adventure in a new part of Korea! Rob and I rang in the new year at the southernmost tip of the country on the island of Jeju and watched the sun rise on a new decade. It's definitely a memory we will never forget! Picturesque place with the view of Seogwipo at the peak. Highlight of the day is the visit to UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site – the Seongsan Sunrise Peak. The Peak resembles a great ancient castle when seen from a distance. Its crater is surrounded by the volcanic ashes that were created when lava touched the cold sea more than 100,000 years ago. At its peak, be swept away by the panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean.

Seongsan Ilchulbong (UNESCO World Natural Heritage)
Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak, which is 180m above sea level, erupted underwater in the ocean about 5,000 years ago, which makes it a very rare case among the many craters in Jejudo Island.
A scene in the movie ‘Lee Chang-ho’s Baseball Team’ (directed by Lee Chang-ho) was filmed here.
Though people used to farm in the area, it is now a natural habitat for 200 types of vegetation such as silvergrass, vine, Pseudosasa japonica, and giant angelica as well as a natural habitat for a variety of wild animals.

I visited Seongsan Ilchulbong a UNESCO World Heritage Site on my second day in Jeju. The site is so unique and amazing I really enjoyed my diy trip haha. ???? I hope you guys like my video and be inspired to visit Jeju Island too!

From Jeju Intercity Bus Terminal,
Take a Direct Bus (Dongilju bus bound for Seongsan) and get off at Seongsalliipgu Bus Stop.
From Seogwipo Intercity Bus Terminal,

Welcome to the series: Travel in Two SQUARED
In Travel in Two Squared, I travelled to Korea with 3 of my best friends!
We spent a total of 15 days in Korea, starting off by staying in Seogwipo, Jeju Island and then had the remainder of the trip in Seoul.
This video focuses on our second day on Jeju Island where we visited the UNESCO world heritage site of the Seongsan Ilchulbong (crater left by an inactive volcano) and the neighbouring beautiful Udo island which is only a short ferry ride away.
