Old Citico Road--Ruins of a house
Old Citico Road was a road that once connected the town of Vonore, Tennessee to the rural community of Citico. Parts of the road was completely abandoned by 1978 following the completion of the Tellico Dam. While the majority of the road is now underwater, there are still parts of it that you can walk on.
The remains of this road can be found at Fort Loudon State Park, the Sequoyah Birthplace Museum, and the McGhee-Carson Unit—all are located in Vonore, TN.
I apologize for the bad quality of this video. My camera can do a lot of things, but taking decent video isn’t one of them. I will be getting a GoPro Hero 3 very soon!
Visiting Fort Loudoun State Park - the Trapper!
Come along with my family and I as we visit Fort Loudoun State Park in Vonore, Tennessee. At the park there is a cool replica of a British fort that was built back in 1756 when Tennessee was still the unknown frontier.
This was an especially fun trip as we visited the fort when they were having a living history weekend, and to see the fort personified and brought to life like this was truly a treat.
In this video a man portraying a trapper shares with us his tools of the trade, and treats us to a few songs on his bowed psaltery!

I did a little exploring around the Historic Fort Loudoun State Park in Vonore, Tennessee
I hadn't visited in years so it was nice to return and see all the changes. I wasn't able to go inside the museum because of the government shutdown. However, I will return when they have the live re-enactments and video the museum.
