Hiking the Newly Reopened Bull Head Trail - Great Smoky Mountains
We decided to hike the newly reopened Bull Head Trail. This was our first time seeing this trail after the deadly wildfires of 2016.
This trail has changed ALOT since i last hiked this trail. The views are amazing but it's a sad reminder of the lives lost and the property that was damaged during these 2016 wildfires.
Let us a comment below let us know what you think about Bull Head Mountain and it's recovery.
This may be dated but here's how you can still help
SUBSCRIBE and learn about the Great Smoky Mountains or hiking and backpacking in general,
with an occasional cycling video or two.

Indian Cave State Park

Unusual Places: The Greenback Castle(Part 1)
The Greenback Castle is one of the strangest places I've ever visited. Located in rural Greenback, Tennessee, this large structure was built by a man named Floyd Banks, Jr, along with the help of at least two other people. He began to build this castle in 1994. Around 2002, he came to the revelation that his task was in divine in nature and that his motivations for constructing the castle were a tribute to his Christian faith and God.
Over the years, more rooms have been added to the castle, while others had things added to them, such as electricity. Each and every single room is filled with symbolism that deals with religion and even Native American spirituality. Banks has written down his thoughts and feelings about certain concepts on the walls, which can be quite....bizarre. Other items of interest include pictographs which are mostly outlined with red paint. I have been told these pictographs are representative of something that has happened or will happen, such as the Greenback tornado that struck in March of 2011. Some of them represent religion, while others are supposed to look like people.
This is a beautiful work of art, though overgrown and beginning to show signs of decay. I highly recommend paying a visit!

Hi Def Time Lapse --- The Complete Run
Deal's Gap, NC To Foothills Parkway, TN
50 Minutes of Drive Time Compressed To 9 Minutes - Since we were driving at 35 mph, this video is like you are driving the Dragon Tail at 195 MPH!
Dragon Tail - 11 miles of road with 318 curves. A great drive with the top down and especially for motorcycles. One end is at Deal's Gap Motorcycle Resort and the other end is at the entrance to the Foothills Parkway. Most of the road is in Tennessee. This was our second time on the tail....the first time was last fall with all the fall foliage. Both times with the top down on the convertible - which accounts for some of the windshield glare. Sorry about that - but was too beautiful a day to leave it up! Last time we drove the Dragon, we saw 3 wrecks - all motorcycles - so be careful. Don't end up with bits and pieces on the Tree of Shame!
The day we drove this for the photos and movie, we counted SEVEN cops - almost all speed traps. Enjoy - but drive safely. (See if you can spot all seven!)
BTW, Movie Trivia: Where we pull off the road, you can see the dam used in the movie, The Fugitive, with Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones - where Dr. Richard Kimble jumped from the dam to escape Deputy Samuel Gerard. The freight train wreck that was staged for the movie is down the road from this shot, just outside of Dillsboro, North Carolina. The train wreckage is still there.

Jamestown, Tennessee, with the Big South Fork Recreation area has become a mecca for horseback trail riding. The Allardt Land Company has built several equestrian communities to accommodate the interests of horse owners wanting to move to this area and have access to miles of riding trails.
Tail of the Dragon - The most intense, epic, nauseating video you will see in the next 12 minutes!
Shot by some guy who walked up with his helmet on to rent my camera, paid with cash, never said a word, rode away. (Then brought my camera back and this was on it.) I will never forget you you mysterious, Stig-like Adonis.
(Shot with my rental Garmin Virb action camera with telemetry/data logging and the Garmin Shoulder-Mount vest. Rent yours at my setup at the south end of the Dragon in the Tail of the Dragon parking area.)
