IH Park - Lakeland, TN - Beautiful Sunny Day...with Mud!
Last weekend, we hiked at the nearby International Harvester Managerial Park in Lakeland, TN. This is a great suburb park that makes you feel like you are escaping to the wilderness and the woods. Weve had flood-warning rain lately, so the ground was a bit muddy, but nothing my rubber boots couldn't handle! Thanks for hiking with us! :)
Rocky Top when it looked like Lake City August 4, 2014
Lack City has been renamed Rocky Top, Tennessee in anticipation of investments from the entertainment industry. Today I decided to do a video of how it looks now so we can see it the way it was back in the Lake City days of 2014.
Some more thoughts about this place from me. I checked Google maps this morning, and Google is already listing Lake City, Tennessee as Rocky Top, Tennessee. While looking at the map I noticed something I had not noticed before. I have always known the CSX and Norfolk Southern main line tracks ran side by side through Lake City, but I had never noticed the 9 side tracks in Lake City (Rocky Top). I was amazed when I saw this, and I wonder why they were built. Could it have been a Cold Ware thing. During the 1950's Lack City had a United States Air Force Station on the mountain above Lake City (Rocky Top). Or could these side tracks be related to the coal mines when (Coal Creek - Lake City - Rocky Top) was near several coal mines? Any way it is understandable why the entertainment business would pick Lake City as the new entertainment location. I am looking forward to seeing how the place will change over the next few years. ~Frank Payne~ 8/7/2014

Cumberland Trail Hike » Devils Racetrack Overlook & Bruce Creek Falls
Jerry and I took the day off from work to go hiking since it was a sunny, beautiful day and there had been so much rain in East Tennessee over the past weekend (6 inches) that many roads and trails in the area were flooded. Most of the roads into the Great Smoky Mountains National Park were closed so we headed out to Big Ridge State Park to hike but found it was flooded too and the trails were closed.
Determined to hike, we drove North to Cumberland Trail State Park and hiked on the Cumberland Trail on the Cumberland Mountain segment (Eagle Bluff portion) to the Devil's Racetrack Overlook. Along the trail are four consecutive waterfalls named Bruce Creek Falls aka Little Egypt Falls totaling a 70 ft drop. These waterfalls were made by blasting through rock to help dissipate the energy produced by Bruce Creek. The Devil's Racetrack Overlook is one of the best views along the Cumberland Trail and overlooks the Cumberland Mountains, Powell Valley and the Cumberland Plateau. We also saw some friends of mine, Rebecca and Whitney from the Ragnar Trail race that I did in 2014! All and all this was a great hike!

Old Lakeshore Insane Asylum Tennessee
The original Lakeshore Asylum building is gone, yet the grounds and a few remaining buildings are supposed to be haunted. Paranormal Spectrum.com checks it out. This location is featured in my book titled Chasing Ghost Tales in Tennessee. Even if you don't believe it's haunted, hundreds of people have contacted me who do. We captured a few creepy, unexplainable moments. Listen closely as we challenge the hauntability of this site visit us on Facebook and our main website
