Shark and Turtle Snorkeling at Shark Bay Koh Tao Thailand
Black tip reef sharks and hawks bill Turtle while snorkeling Koh Tao's Shark Bay.
SHARK BAY - Swimming with SHARKS on Koh Tao | Thailand
Koh Tao in Thailand is well known for its amazing diving and snorkelling spots. We’ve stayed for four days, where we took the time to explore the best snorkeling spots on or own.
If you want to see the Blacktip sharks you will need to snorkel past the buoy. Swim till the water gets more dark blue and you will have a great chance to see the sharks! They say that the best time is early in the morning.
If you want to now if it is safe. The Blacktip sharks are gentle sharks, they belong to the species reef sharks. There has been non reporting of divers getting bitten here. It gave me a lot of excitement and energy to swim there and seeing the sharks!
If you would like to now more you can always visit out blog :)

Koh Tao Thailand - Haad Tien Beach Resort (Shark Bay) HD
The haadtien is a unique boutique resort nestled amongst the palm groves in the southern tip of Koh Tao with its own approximately 350 meter secluded beach. The development has taken place organically with variety of private villas and rooms, both beachfronts and seaviews, set amongst 45 acres of land that encompass the resort. The villas have been designed to provide guests with clean, comfortable and spacious accommodation without sacrificing the natural environment which makes the resort so unique.
The resort is totally private as it is situated in its own natural bay, with granite cliffs on both sides and jungle behind, yet the resort is only a kilometre from the nearest village with local shops and restaurants. The beach itself opens out onto a crystal blue shallow lagoon which is perfect for swimming and snorkelling, and at night all that can be heard is the lapping of the waves and the whistling of the breeze.
In keeping with environmental influences that make the resort so special, the name haad tien derives from the trees to be found growing at the water's edge, with their gnarly roots digging into the white coral sands of the beach.
haadtien and the environment
The haadtien is built on one of the most untouched and naturally beautiful bays in Thailand, therefore the resort has been designed with the environment in mind. The villas and restaurant building are low impact and built of natural materials. The resort has its own flower and plant nursery, to ensure we have a constant supply of naturally occurring foliage. The nursery also doubles as a fruit and vegetable garden, again to ensure guests have fresh and delicious produce while maintaining a low carbon footprint.
Water, a precious commodity on the island is drawn from our own boreholes sunk deep into the subsoil. Any waste water is recycled and used to irrigate the garden and plantings in the resort. Lastly, any refuse generated in the resort is sorted and recycled, and the beach is thoroughly cleaned and swept every day with any driftwood removed for use as resort fuel.

Snorkeling on Shark Bay | Koh Tao Island Thailand | Turtle Island HD
Shark bay (Thian og bay) also know as Turtle bay on Koh Tao Island in Thailand.
This is one of the best place for snorkeling.
You can find black tip shark and turtles.
SHARK BAY IS A PRIVATE BAY WITH
A BEAUTIFUL BEACH OF FINE WHITE SAND.
IT IS SHADED BY TALL COCONUT TREES AND PEMPHIS ACIDULA WHICH IS CALLED ‘THIAN’
BY THE LOCALS, THEREBY GIVING THE BAY ITS ORIGINAL NAME – THIAN OG BAY
Thian Og is a lovely, quiet place to come and relax.
It is known as ‘Shark Bay’ due to the blacktip reef sharks that frequent here. An entrance fee is charged.
It also called as Turtle Bay becayse Turtles can be seen frequently here.
You can also visit the bay by boat or kayak.
Alternative ways of access can be found via a few resorts in Chalok Baan Kao Bay’s east coast that connect to Shark Bay’s west shore (not at the beach).
his area is also a shark nursery where young sharks can be seen at certain times of the year.
There are larger sharks, and to see them you need to swim out about 250 metres from the beach to where it drops down deeper to 3 – 4 metres.
They are more likely to be found around the east shore close to Sai Daeng Beach.
Look out for green turtles as well, as these live in Shark Bay too and are amazing to see.
A few of them are huge, larger than a metre long.
They are friendly and not afraid of humans and can sometimes swim very close to you.
Please be sure to not touch them as bacteria on our skin can greatly affect their health and can cause them harm.
Though the coral reef in the bay was vastly destroyed by El Nino in 1998.
Shark Bay is the only place where you can find turtles every day.

Koh Tao - Shark Bay -Thailand- Snorklling -2017
Koh Tao, Thailand! Shark bay, Shark liberation!
With my Thai friend Boy Kohtao on a private boat trip to Shark Bay. We have seen 2 sharks snorkeling, caught a curious shark and another small shark at a hacker that we freed together. I've recorded it all! An unbelievable day, thank you, Boy Kohtao ''!
Surrounded by Blacktip reef sharks in Shark Bay, Koh Tao
Shark Bay, Koh Tao is full of Blacktip reef sharks in their mating season during January-March each year. Freediving is the key to be close to these sharks. Just dive down and wait at the bottom calmly. The longer you stay underwater the closer they come.

Koh Tao, Thailand Shark bay (South)
This video is made from footage taken around the south end of shark bay on Koh Tao in Thailand. In total I spent about 3.5 hours snorkeling shark bay. Shark bay is not one of the premium snorkel locations on the island, but there is still quite a bit to see under the water. If you happen to be staying at one of the resorts on shark bay then I think it's still worth throwing on a mask and snorkel and taking a look around. Who knows you may get to see a black tipped reef shark. I saw sharks 2 out of 3 times snorkeling at shark bay.
All footage is taken with a Sony AS100 action cam on the underwater color setting. No lights or filters were used in any of my footage. All clips were taken from the surface while snorkeling. I'm not a diver.
