Shibata City Japan Fun Day
Just 40 minutes away from Niigata Station by train, Shibata City is a fun little day trip. Like many cities in Japan there are shrines and old world structures next to new and modern buildings. Shibata Castle is an amazing place to walk around. I spent an hour trying to find the actual castle, only to find out the castle actually doesn`t exist and it is only the gate area. It still is a very nice area even though there is not actual castle. For more videos, don`t forget to subscribe on Follow Orange.

I wanted you guys to feel comfortable about your transition from your home country to Japan if you decided on moving here. Please give this video a thumbs up and share it as it took awhile to make! :) Please leave a comment on what you would like to see in episode 2!

I had the great honor and privilege to meet and learn from this amazing teacher at the Three Paths, One Journey seminar in California. Though Yoshihito Shibata Sensei's skills are prodigious and many, what stands out most is this man's humility, kindness and generosity. You will find no better example of a martial artist following pure Budo than this man.
I can highly recommend him to all sincere seekers wishing to learn the Aiki path.
Shibata Sensei is in Santa Cruz and is available for seminars. He's also a world class caligrapher and superb wildlife photographer. His healing masterpieces are available for purchase. He may be reached through his website and social media:

Switch flat Tokyo: mobile walls transform home into office
To avoid paying Tokyo rents for office space, architect Yuko Shibata created moving walls that allow her to switch between home and office. At the equivalent cost of 3 months of office rental, or about $7000, Shibata created a morphing home/office she calls “Switch”.
Inspired by fusuma, the sliding paper screens used to divide rooms in traditional Japanese homes, Shibata created sliding bookshelves to divide and transform the rooms. One partition wall, weighing 750 kilograms (1450 pounds), moves easily on rollers switching the main space from dining room into a meeting room plus separate library.
To open up her study and bedroom, she cut a hole in the wall and installed another mobile bookshelf wall that pivots out to create a two-room workspace/library plus a partitioned bedroom.
By leaving the structural walls and plumbing intact, the project was very affordable while extending the functional space.
