Walking in Tokyo - Shin Okubo Korean Town - 4K
Shin Okubo is the biggest Korean neighborhood in Tokyo. It's located one stop fron Shinjuku Station, and is home to countless shops selling Korean products and foods. In this district you can find everything from Korean cosmetics, to K-pop merchandise as well as a plethora of Korean restaurants. Approximately 500 different businesses are located in this area.
As you can see in this video, the streetwalks and alleys are very narrow, and the district can get unpleasantly crowded at times, particularly on weekends.
Shot in June 2018 with a Fujifilm X-T20 mounted on a Zhiyun Crane V2. 4K / Ultra HD Resolution.

The Best Korean Street Food in Tokyo Shin Okubo! K-TOWN (CHEESY CHICKEN)
We went to Korean town here in japan located at
shin Okubo and we tried different kinds of Korean food that would
represent their country.
We tried their most famous cheese on stick with mozzarella cheese
and their chicken UFO. It consist of crispy fried chicken (outer core) together with sweet style chicken (outer core) and a dip of mozzarella cheese in the middle (middle core).
The last thing we tried was chicken toppoki which is really famous
and common food in Korea and IT IS REALLY GOOD!
We feel like were in Korea on that time. We've seen many different stores that offers many k pop superstar banners and stuff etc, like BTS, Black Pink, Twice, EXO, SEVENTEEN and so on.
This is our life in JAPAN. Join us in our daily lives here as we enjoy and explore every nice food and great places.

Here is one of my most beloved parts of Tokyo ! So much so that my friends don't like coming with me to Shin-Okubo because I end up wandering off and completely forgetting I came with people in the first place (ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*:･ﾟ✧ ....OTL LOL . I'm also sooo sorry that the majority of this video was BTS stuff . I JUST LOVE BTS A LOT OK I CAN'T ?? STOP ?? T_T But I was glad I saw the cardboard cut-out of Chen...and my bias' D.O and Kai behind him . (◡‿◡✿) LOL .
Shin-Okubo is located in Shinjuku, Japan and is most definitely the place to visit if you want some K-Pop merchandise . There's plenty of K-pop shops, Korean restaurants, and even Korean groceries ! I always go to Shin-Okubo telling myself I won't buy anything but I never leave that place without any shopping bags in my hands ^^ (it's the bias t-shirts that get to me darn it !) . You can get there by walking 20+ minutes from Shinjuku station, 5-10 minutes from Okubo station, or just go to the JR Shin-Okubo station .
Anyways, here are some tips when cruising around Shin-Okubo!
► I recommend buying your merchandise on the street opposite of the station . The little alley ways will also have more unique K-pop stores with merchandise like bags or what the brands the idols wear . The main street has lots of places to buy K-pop albums though !
► I really recommend you eat at Shin-Okubo ! The Korean food it sells there are to die for and there a lot of K-pop themed restaurants and cafes (like the one you saw in the video) . ^^
► Shin-Okubo is also really good for buying asian groceries . This might sound weird since it's Japan, but you'll be surprised at how different Japan's groceries are compared to other asian cultures . When I come here I like buying fish sauce here in bulk haha . :P
► Be careful when taking pictures in the stores, a lot of them don't allow it actually (it was so difficult to film in the stores tbh @_@)
► When you're buying stuff like bags and t-shirts, be careful and look at the quality of them . I saw a lot of t-shirts that looked like the print would be taken off with one wash . But I guess that's where Shin-Okubo is good for the fact that you can check the quality of fan clothing *gets flashbacks of fan t-shirt merch that was unwearable after two washes LOL .
► The trends at Shin-Okubo are a bit slow . For example when I went Shin-Okubo last time I was a huge Descendants of the Sun fan, but there was no merch for Song Joongki in the stores at all . Now that the drama is completely finished there is Song Joonki merchandise in a lot of the stores haha . Also BTS recently completed their Japan concert and the stores were riddled with BTS stuff or stocking them when I filmed this vlog .
► They sell a lot of Korean skin care but I think it's cheaper to buy your stuff online . I think buying masks at Shin-Okubo are pretty reasonable though~

Shin-Ōkubo: Tokyo's historic ethnic Korean neighborhood.
Shin-Ōkubo (新大久保?) is a neighborhood within Tokyo's Shinjuku ward known for its extensive Korean community. It is built around Shin-Ōkubo Station and is accessible on the Yamanote Line. Shin-Ōkubo is home to both Korean residents in Japan as well as Korean immigrants, and has seen an upsurge in popularity due to Hallyu pop-culture. Unlike most of the Tokyo metropolitan area, where signs are bilingual Japanese and English, many signs in Shin-Ōkubo are trilingual: Korean, Japanese and English.
Shin-Ōkubo Station (新大久保駅 Shin-Ōkubo-eki?) is a railway station on the Yamanote Line in Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan, operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East).[1] Opened on November 15, 1914, it is close to the large local Korea ethnic neighborhood. Shin-Ōkubo station has only one exit.

According to official statistics in 2002, the Korean population in Tokyo amounted to 80,000, which was the second largest following that of Osaka.
Tokyo's Korean-oriented commercial centre is located in the district of Okubo around the area of Shin-Okubo Station and Okubo Station in Shinjuku Ward. Shinjuku Ward itself has over 14,201 registered Korean residents[4] this is over 20% of the registered Korean residents in Tokyo; Unlike other Japanese Koreatowns, the Okudo Koreatown developed after World War II and is dominated by new-comers - recent immigrants from South Korea who have retained their ethnic and cultural identity, as can be seen from the ubiquitous signs written in hangul.
One of the contributing factors in the development of Okubo into a Korean area is the low rents and a reputation as a seedy area with many Love Hotels south of Okubo station. The low rents and willingness of landlords to accept foreign tenants has attached Korean and other Asian migrants to the area [5] . These Businesses cater of the migrant community and increasingly Japanese who come to experience ethnic cuisine. Other immigrants from China, Taiwan, Southeast Asia, and various other nationalities makes this one of the most colourful and multicultural areas in Tokyo.
The area around Mikawashima station on the Jōban Line, to the north of the city, is a Koreatown dominated by Zainichi immigrants from Jeju island.
Also noteworthy is a smaller-scale Zainichi Korean quarter to the southeast of Ueno station, and to the southwest, a community of South Korean new-comers.

This video start in some point of the end of the main street, then turn to the most conglomerate street of Korean products stores, fast food and restaurants, after that back along the main street until getting to the Shin Okubo station(JR Yamanote Line).
