City Description:
Port Arthur is a village and historic site in southern Tasmania, Australia. Sitting on the Tasman Peninsula, it was a 19th-century penal settlement and is now an open-air museum. Ruins include the huge penitentiary and the remaining shell of the Convict Church, which was built by inmates. Solitary confinement cells in the Separate Prison building were used to inflict mental punishment in place of floggings.Convicts who perished in the penal settlement were buried on the Isle of the Dead, across Carnarvon Bay. In the mid-1800s, scores of young boys were incarcerated at the Point Puer Boys’ Prison, which was notorious for its oppressive rule. South of the historic site, Remarkable Cave is a natural oceanside tunnel passing through a sandstone cliff. The surrounding bushland offers hiking trails, as well as beaches at Crescent Bay and Safety Cove. Southwest, Ship Stern Bluff is a rocky headland with panoramic views over the vast Tasman Sea.
Weather and Events:
Summer (Dec–Feb), when temperatures are mild, is a popular time for bushwalking and coastal hikes. Winter (Jun–Aug) is chilly and often wet.

A Sunny Disposition: Stu Gibson
You’ve certainly seen Stu Gibson’s work before. If not his compelling drone footage, much of which is filmed on the hidden points of Tasmania, or his gripping angles of Shipsterns, then surely his pristine view of Fiji and all her divine tropical faces. The latter of which is where we dive into the shocking blue with him today.
