Shirakami-Sanchi (literally white god mountain area') is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in northern Honshu, Japan.
This mountainous, unspoiled expanse of virgin forest straddles both Akita and Aomori.
THE GUIDE TO SHIRAKAMI SANCHI - AKITA PREFECTURE
Shirakami Sanchi is a general term used to refer to the massive 130,000ha (501 square miles) mountainous land extended over Aomori and Akita prefecture. In December 1993, it became the first Japanese World Heritage Site along Yakushima in Kagoshima prefecture.
Shirakami-sanchi has become a popular spot, visited by trekking enthusiasts from all over the world. Here you can enjoy the various expressions of nature in all four seasons.

Although access to the Shirakami Sanchi World Heritage zone is limited to protect its delicate ecosystems, you can visit with a permit obtained by mail or in person.

Snow Hiking in Japanese World Heritage Listed National Park (Shirakami Sanchi, Aomori Prefecture)
One of only three World Heritage listed sites in Japan, Shirakami Sanchi in Aomori Prefecture, Tohoku region. Full of lakes that we were able to see after making a reservation online, with the most famous being the blue lake or Aoike. The whole park is closed from November to February so the only way to get in is with a guide. And you get to wear these Japanese snow shoes that are tied on with rope!

Tohoku by Train | Episode Two: Resort Shirakami Train from Aomori to Akita
The Resort Shirakami train leisurely threads its way between the shore and the Shirakami mountains (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). The huge windows, gentle pace, on-board musicians, and timely stops for scenic photo ops are all designed to make the journey the destination.

Jalan-jalan Santai bersama Selfy parkit ke beberapa tempat yang merupakan bagian dari Shirakami Sanchi. Kali ini saya dan Mr. guide ke Shirakami Sanchi di daerah utara Jepang. Shirakami Sanchi sendiri merupakan area yang termasuk dalam propinsi Akita dan Aomori.
Shirakami Sanchi merupakan UNESCO World Heritage Site di wilayah Tohoku, Honshu utara Jepang. Area pegunungannya merupakan the last virgin forest of Siebold's beech yang menutupi sebagian besar daerah utara Jepang.
Dalam kesempatan kali ini saya mengunjungi beberapa tempat sepert Aqua Green Village Anmon, Anmon Valley, Tsugaru pass, Mother Tree place, dan melihat hutan Beech/ virgin beech forest. Sayangnya saat itu kami tidak bisa melihat air terjun Anmon, dikarenakan jalan menuju tempat air terjun sementara ditutup dan tidak bisa dilewati dikarena volume air sungai dari air terjun Anmon meluap.Tetapi tetap saja kami masih bisa menikmati indahnya air sungai dari mata air terjun Anmon.

Shirakami-Sanchi (UNESCO/NHK)
Situated in the mountains of northern Honshu, this trackless site includes the last virgin remains of the cool-temperate forest of Siebold's beech trees that once covered the hills and mountain slopes of northern Japan. The black bear, the serow and 87 species of birds can be found in this forest.

Hiking Spots in Northern Japan: Aomori 青森トレッキング

Mount Iwaki Shirakami Sanchi
Mount Iwaki (Iwakisan in Japanese) is a mountain located about 15 km east-northeast of Hirosaki city.
It is a volcano, and there are three peaks on the top.

One of Japan's most scenic train routes to Aomori Prefecture is by the JR Gono Line that services the Shirakami Sanchi Ranges from Noshiro City, Akita Prefecture.
The train often slows down in many areas of this Site in order to give the passengers an opportunity to take a few photos and admire the open vastness that is the Sea of Japan.
When I looked at it, the most prominent thing that caught my eye was the sun breaking through the clouds.
People use this route to travel to the Aoike and the Jyuni station where you are able to view the 12 lakes of Aomori Prefecture.
Holders of the JR line are able to access this inclusive of the cost of the pass.
If you want to drive, you are able to take advantage of the many stops in the area that would help relax and appreciate more of the journey that you are on, especially in the land of the rising sun.
