Similan-Inseln (in Thai: หมู่เกาะสิมิลัน, Mu Ko Similan) wird eine Gruppe von neun Inseln in der Andamanensee vor der Provinz Phangnga in Thailand genannt. Ihr Name leitet sich vom malayischen Wort „sembilan (neun) ab. Die unbewohnten Inseln bilden zusammen mit zwei weiteren Inseln den Mu Ko Similan Nationalpark. Das Meer rund um die Similan-Inseln gilt zum Schnorcheln wie zum Sporttauchen als eines der schönsten Reviere weltweit.

The most interesting sights, however, are to be found beneath the waves. Some of the most spectacular coral growths in the world can be found here - and the same boulders that scatter the shores have turned the waters around the Similans into an adventure playground for divers.
Similan Islands Wonders
Underwater, meanwhile, all sorts of marine creatures have helped establish the reefs and the sandy beaches. When you climb up to Sailing Boat Rock, consider the brilliant white sand below.
The conditions for coral growth are ideal, with a minimum prevailing sea temperature and exceptionally clear waters. More than 200 species of hard coral alone have so far been identified in this area, while these islands have the greatest profusion of reef fish in Thai waters.
It's best known as a diving and snorkelling destination, but the Similans' scenic moorings are also becoming increasingly popular with the sailing fraternity. Every year more yachts come to cruise the Similans during the northeast monsoon (November-May, with December-February the peak of the high season)

The trip was on 7th of April 2017, the weather did not take our side at all because it was raining in the morning time which caused us unable to visit some parts of Similand islands. After all, things went well and we were amazed by the beauty of each group of Similand islands. Besides, we would love to thank you to #WowAndaman for your warm hospitality along the journey, fruit and meals provided was good enough. Unfortunately, this time we missed a chance to see dolphins but we will for sure next time when the wind and weather are in good condition. Amazing trip!! #Phangnga #thailand

Similan Islands Daytrip
Found approximately 31miles (50km) off the Phang Nga Coast of the Andaman Sea, are 9 small islands known as the Similan Islands. A little further than other islands from Phuket (67miles/109km) the Similan’, with unspoiled waters and flourishing marine life, is your destination with this speedboat tour from Phuket, that also includes lunch and hotel transfers.
Open to the public from October to May each year, it is recommend to plan your visit from November. Stay alert for the majestic sea turtle and dolphins that often come out and to say hello.
Itinerary
5.30am: Rise early to join your transfer by minivan from your hotel. Enjoy a small light breakfast including coffee, tea, bread, and fresh fruit at Tablamu pier. Here you can pick up your last minute supplies like a disposable camera for underwater.
9am: Depart the pier by speedboat and settle in for the 67miles (109km) journey to the Similan Islands.
11.30am: You have been fitted with your snorkel gear and have enjoyed some time in the crystal clear water, watching the active marine life carry out their daily chores.
Time for a hike up to the Richelieu Rock viewpoint, before satisfying your hunger with a sumptuous Thai buffet lunch. Complimenting your dining is a selection of refreshments including fruit juice and soft drinks.
2.30pm: Relax on the beach or strike a pose for the camera with the stunning ocean behind you before taking one last dive into that beautiful clear water. Back on board the speedboat you depart the Similan Islands and make the journey back to Phuket followed by your transfer back to your hotel.

A one-day trip along with one of the several operators to the Similan Islands. On average, you get 2 islands stops and 2 snorkeling sessions. Location will depend on current and weather conditions. I remember the visibility was much better a few years ago. It could be either this April is the month where the current is starting to build up, or.... the water is really getting worst due to increasing tourist activities. You don’t really need to bring anything for the trip except your swimsuit. They have breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea served. Snorkeling gear, flippers and even towels fully provisioned. And you get boat loads of excessive tourist free of charge at every spot you go.

The Similan Islands are an archipelago of 11 islands in the Andaman Sea 70 kilometers off the coast of southern Thailand’s Phang Nga Province, the Similan Islands are a top destination for diving, snorkelling, hiking, and relaxing at the beach. Established as the Mu Ko Similan National Park in 1982, the Similan Islands measure 140 square kilometres and are located 85 kilometres northwest of the island of Phuket. This is a great place for travellers who like to dive and explore remote places full of wildlife.
Clear, shallow blue waters, rock formations, coral reefs, and marine life surround the islands, which have been ranked one of the top ten dive destinations in the world by the National Geographic Society.
