The Sistelo village, in the municipality of Arcos de Valdevez, is brutally ... charming and is nicknamed little Portuguese Tibet. Discover this village of northern Portugal.
It is situated at the gates of the Peneda-Gerês National Park, near the source of the Vez River and is nicknamed by many as the little Portuguese Tibet. The landscape of Sistelo has been classified as a national monument.
It is thus nicknamed due to the terraces of the village. They stand out most in the landscape, but also their typical houses, streets with large stones crushed by ox carts, mills, washers and granaries high.
The terraces, used for agriculture - which were built to make the land more productive by guiding water into it by levada or irrigation - have been carved for generations and generations.

Está situada às portas do Parque Nacional da Peneda-Gerês, junto da nascente do rio Vez e é apelidada por muitos como o pequeno Tibete português. A paisagem de Sistelo foi classificada de monumento nacional.
É assim apelidada devido aos socalcos da aldeia. São eles que mais sobressaem na paisagem, mas também o seu casario típico, ruas com pedras grandes moídas pelos carros de bois, moinhos, lavadouros e espigueiros ao alto.
Os socalcos, usados para a agricultura - e que foram construídos para tornarem as terras mais produtivas, guiando a água para as mesmas através de levadas ou regadios -, foram esculpidos por gerações e gerações.

Also known as the portuguese tibet, Sistelo is a parish from the Municipality of Arcos de Valdevez.
Sistelo is famous for its ´solcalcos´, which arose by the need to increase the agricultural area and to counter the slopes.
Those are flat platforms with deep and fertile soil, built on the slopes of the mountains overlapping each other and supported by great stone walls.

A aldeia de Sistelo, situa-se no concelho de Arcos de Valdevez, na periferia do Parque Nacional da Peneda-Gerês, junto à nascente do rio Vez. Apelidada de pequeno Tibete Português devido às suas paisagens em socalcos, onde se cultiva o milho e pasto para o gado. Os socalcos verdes são a imagem de marca de Sistelo é o resultado de um trabalho árduo durante várias gerações, de forma a moldar a natureza. para aumentar a área agrícola. A Aldeia encontra-se muito bem preservada e reúne um conjunto de monumentos e recantos para conhecer onde predominam as construções em granito.
