An early morning at SIXTY STONE MOUNTAIN, Hualien (花蓮六十石山)
In this short video I visit the well-known Sixty Stone Mountain in southern Hualien County early in the morning. Very pretty scenery, even before the day lily season started.

From Travel in Taiwan magazine 2014-05-06:
By Rick Charette
South of Antong Hot Springs, Sixty Stone (Liushidan) Mountain overlooks the East Rift Valley floor, its peak about 800 meters above sea level. A 300/400-hectare tableland of day lilies carpets its top, blooming in spectacular fashion August~September, with the paddy-grid far below a unique backdrop. I’ve been on the mountain when the big orange show is on, and it really is a thrill; on this trip, however, we found ourselves wrapped up in thick, rolling mists, which though not what we’d come for was nevertheless wonderfully rewarding aesthetically, creating myriad artistic shanshui-painting-style canvases for eye and camera. Chike Mountain, northeast of Yuli, is also known for lovely day lily vistas.

Vision of Taiwan's Mountains #3
At the border between heaven and earth, all you can hear is the wind. Looking down from a height of almost 4,000m, the blue sky, the white clouds, and the black rock are imbued with the beauty of heaven and of earth. Standing so close to heaven, a conversation with the earth seems in order. Be inspired by these mountains, and be dazzled by their fearsome crags, in which majesty combines with brute power. Whether you want to experience nature, find inspiration, or simply delight in life itselfwhatever your reasons, you are sure to find your answer in the high mountains of Taiwan.
Jhuilu Old Trail - The Most Extreme Hike in Taiwan (Zhui Lu Gu Dao -- 錐麓古道)
The precarious Jhuilu (Zhuilu) Old Trail is cut into the highest, sheer cliff face in the awe-inspiring Taroko Gorge. The Jhuilu Cliff is about 1.100 meter high, and if you step of the path at the steepest sections of the trail you will fall more than 500 meters down to the Liwu river below. Never mind the risk of falling, the true risk is from falling rocks from the sheer cliff face that continues straight up for several hundred meters. So always wear a helmet! The hammered out ledge that the trail follows across the cliff is only 60 centimeters wide at its narrowest. So watch every step you make! The 10.3km Jhuilu Old Trail follows the last remaining sections of the old and infamous Hehuan Mountain Road. The trail begins at Zimu (Cihmu) Bridge and runs east along the north wall of the gorge before recrossing at Swallow Grotto. Hikers have been known to abandon their plans when they actually looked up and saw where they were going.
The path was closed after a big earthquake in 1999, and reopened in 2008 on a permit-only basis. Applications must be made at least a week in advance and can be made online, though only on the Chinese section of the park's website (the park promises English applications will be available in the future).

MERIDA short travel trail bike (front 130 mm/rear 120 mm)
is equally at home on long and demanding uphills as it is on energy-sapping straights as well we technical downhills and singletracks.
The updated geometry and frame design gives the bike a very playful character, but it is still precise and lightning fast.
In comparison to its well-rounded predecessor which was already a fantastic descender, the new MERIDA ONE-TWENTY is even more capable on the downhills and loves everything from fast, flowy singletrack to rooty and rocky enduro tracks.
Due to its low weight and fantastic power delivery, it is a hugely capable long distance bike – particularly the new full carbon version.
MERIDA offers this new ‘jack of all trades’ from the super light full carbon top-end model via a carbon/aluminium option all the way to the more budget-friendly all aluminium version.
No complex setup or adjustments are needed.

HIGH OCTANE AND FRENZIED TALES OF BOOZED UP HICKS, CHICKS, DROP OUTS AND SKUNKS SYPHONED FROM VARIOUS NORTH AMERICAN OIL DUMPS OF ILL-REPUTE' - Belter Records (known from the 'Bonehead Crunchers' and 'Ultimate Bonehead' series) has been rampaging obscure nooks and crannies of North America to uncover a selection of frenetic screamers and high velocity tales of hellraising and beer swilling with fast driving stoners trying to catch even faster moving girls. If you can imagine a rockabilly outgrowth updated through a grinder operated by Keith Richards and Rob Tyner, you have an idea of what to expect. This LP merges rock'n'roll, late garage and budding proto punk in an endless orgy of high energy stupidity. The contents are mainly from the late '60s and early '70s.
Limited to 300 copies.
