Once part of Yugoslavia , Slovenia ???????? is a beautiful democratic Small country South of Poland.
With only 2 million people it is one of the smallest countries in Europe: clean , green and very environmentally friendly, we can all learn from this Pearl in Europe.
Everybody speaks English and tv has original English with subtitles.
Education is a priority and Services , agriculture and casinos provide and push the economy.
With the average salary of 1200 Euro per month people are able to live comfortable lives.
Alcoholism or poverty do not seem to be in Slovenia.
Beautiful Ljubljana Capital off Slovenia
Ljubljana (locally: [lʲubˈlʲana] ( listen); German: Laibach, Italian: Lubiana, Latin: Labacum) is the capital of Slovenia and its largest city.[3] It is the centre of the City Municipality of Ljubljana. It is located in the centre of the country in the Ljubljana Basin, and is a mid-sized city of some 270,000 inhabitants. Throughout its history, it has been influenced by its geographic position at the crossroads of the Slavic world with the Germanic and Latin cultures.
For centuries, Ljubljana was the capital of the historical region of Carniola,[4] and in the 20th century it became the cultural, educational, economic, political and administrative centre of Slovenia, independent since 1991.[3] Its transport connections, concentration of industry, scientific and research institutions and cultural tradition are contributing factors to its leading position.
Geography and climate
The city, with an area of 163.8 square kilometres (63.2 sq mi), is situated in central Slovenia in the Ljubljana Basin between the Alps and the Karst. Ljubljana is located some 140 kilometres (87 mi) west of Zagreb, 520 kilometres (320 mi) northwest of Belgrade, 250 kilometres (160 mi) east of Venice, 350 kilometres (220 mi) southwest of Vienna and 400 kilometres (250 mi) southwest of Budapest.[28] The extent of Ljubljana has changed considerably in the past 30 years, mainly because some of the nearby settlements have merged with Ljubljana.[29]

The altitude of the centroid of Ljubljana is 295 metres (968 ft)[1] The city centre is located along the river Ljubljanica at the altitude of 298 metres (978 ft).[30] The Ljubljana Castle, which sits atop the Castle Hill (Grajski grič) south of the city centre, is at 366 metres (1,201 ft) altitude while the city's highest point, called the Janče Hill (Janški hrib), reaches 794 metres (2,605 ft).[31] The main watercourses in Ljubljana are the Ljubljanica, the Sava, the Gradaščica, the Mali graben, the Iška and the Iščica. Next to the eastern border of the city, the rivers Ljubljanica, Sava and Kamniška Bistrica flow together.[32][33] At the confluence is the lowest point of Ljubljana, with the altitude of 261 metres (856 ft).[30]
Climate
Ljubljana's climate is Oceanic (Köppen climate classification Cfb), bordering on a Humid subtropical climate zone (Köppen climate classification Cfa),[36] with continental characteristics such as warm summers and moderately cold winters. July and August are the warmest months with daily highs generally between 25 and 30 °C (77 and 86 °F), and January is the coldest month with the temperatures mostly oscillating around 0 °C (32 °F). The city experiences 90 days of frost per year, and 11 days with temperatures above 30 °C (86 °F). The precipitation is relatively evenly distributed throughout the seasons, although winter and spring tend to be somewhat drier than summer and autumn. Yearly precipitation is about 1,400 mm (55 in), making Ljubljana one of the wettest European capitals. Thunderstorms are very common from May to September and can occasionally be quite heavy. Snow is common from December to February; on average, there are 65 days with snow cover recorded each winter season. The city is known for its fog, which is recorded on average on 121 days per year, mostly in autumn and winter, and can be particularly persistent in conditions of temperature inversion.[37] In summer the weather in the city is under the influence of Mediterranean air currents, so the summers are sunny and warm.

Yeayyy... Alhamdulillah! We are on our 2019 winter trip in Slovenia. This one during our first and second day to here. 18 hours journey from KL to Frankfurt (transit 3 hours) then to Ljubljana and straight to Lake Bled. Very tired but we are sooooo excited!

Lake Bled Travel Guide | Day Trip from Ljubljana, Slovenia
Join us as we visit Lake Bled in this travel guide as a day trip from Ljubljana, Slovenia where we cover the top things to do in Lake Bled including visiting the castle by foot and island by boat trip. Just slightly over an hour by bus and roughly 45 minutes by car Lake Bled is easily accessible from Ljubljana.
With most attractions clustered around the lake a perfect way to spend a day visiting Lake Bled is to walk around the lake, visit Bled Castle, eat local cake and have a leisurely lunch along with taking a boat trip out to the island. All of this can be done in a day allowing you to return to Ljubljana in the early evening.

Lake Bled Travel Guide | Day Trip from Ljubljana, Slovenia Video Transcript:
Lake Bled is probably the most popular day trip you can take from Ljubljana. This is a lake that sits on the Julian Alps, and in the middle of the lake you have a small island with a church - it’s about as picturesque as it gets and it draws massive crowds, but first, the journey there.
Bled Castle is a medieval castle that was built on a cliff rising 130 meters over Lake Bled. According to written sources, this is the oldest castle in Slovenia, first being mentioned in a document from the year 1011. The castle is set up around two courtyards which are connected with a staircase. Once you’re there, you can visit the chapel, check out some of the exhibits, watch a demonstration at the castle forge, or eat at the castle coffee shop or restaurant.
After the castle visit, we hiked back down and started our walk along Lake Bled because we were still feeling pretty stuffed from lunch. Little did we know this would take us several hours to complete.
After eating our slice of Bled Cream Cake, or Kremsnita, it was finally time to arrange a boat ride to Bled Island. While you can rent your own row boat to take out on the island, we chose to pay the 14 Euros per person to have someone else do the hard work. However, if you’re with a group of friends or travelling with family, it’s definitely cheaper to just rent a boat and row it yourself.
Bled Island is very small and it got pretty crowded even though it was low season. Forty minutes turned out to be plenty of time to climb up, have a look around, and enjoy some ice cream.
Now one last piece of advice: we visited in the off-season and at the end of the day, we found out there were not enough buses to transport everyone from Lake Bled back to Ljubljana.
We weren’t able to get on one bus because it was full, so we waited an hour and a half for the next one. By then, more day-trippers like us had gathered, and once again, not everyone could get on the bus, leaving a lot of people stranded, having to find a taxi or other alternative.
There was a lot of pushing and shoving, and many visitors with prepaid tickets were visibly upset.
Because our bus was full, this also meant that even though there were several scheduled stops on the way back to Ljubljana, we couldn’t pick up any passengers along the way, many of them who had been waiting for hours.
Lake Bled has experienced a boom in tourism, but the infrastructure to transport people hasn’t quite caught up yet. After a nice day visiting Bled, getting out of there proved to be very chaotic and stressful. Hopefully things will change in the future, but until then, know that leaving at the end can be tricky.

This is a video I made of the Ljubljana Christmas Market in Slovenia.
I spent 2 nights in Ljubljana as part of my Europe Christmas Market tour.
The amount of Christmas decorations and lighting in the Ljubljana city center was surprising and it's easy to see how they're constantly voted as one of the best Christmas markets in Europe!
Around every corner were Market stalls, Christmas trees, decorations, and holiday spirit was in abundance everywhere.
The Ljubljana Festive Fair as it's known in Slovenia is held every year from the middle of November until the beginning of January. It's a huge open air venue for festive events that runs all week long with live music and other exciting activities on the weekends.
The market stalls are a great place to pick up a Christmas present, traditional souvenir, or something to eat or drink. Many of the vendors are selling hot drinks, mulled wine, local sausages, and a variety of grilled dishes so there's always something available regardless of what you're looking for.
Each year the market takes on a different theme so keep an eye out when you're visiting to see what the current theme is.
There are few places in Slovenia that are better decorated for the holidays then what you'll find at the Ljubljana Christmas Market! I definitely recommend visiting if you ever get the chance!
