Snorkelling Alaska September 2019
This video was filmed during our 7 night cruise on the Golden Princess from Whittier Alaska to Vancouver British Columbia on the 14th September 2019. On our visit to Ketchikan I spent the morning snorkelling, coming across Sea Stars, Jelly's, crabs and other fauna.

What to Do in Ketchikan Alaska
This video describes many of the things to do on vacation in Ketchikan, Alaska. Alaskan Cruises ships stop at many cities in Alaska, including Ketchikan. Learn about the tours that are offered in Southern Alaska, including flight seeing to see bears, Misty Fjords National Monument, hiking in the rainforest, watching the Lumberjack Show, visiting the Totem Parks, fishing for salmon, shopping for souvenirs, zip lining, snorkeling and more.
If you are traveling with a large group, be sure to negotiate a lower price with the tour operators. You can also rent a van to visit local attractions rather than paying individually for bus tours. Be sure to book months in advance.
She has tips for the budget traveler too. Many local attractions are free or inexpensive. She can tell you how to get around using the public transportation system. What is the difference between the Totem parks and where to go in town to watch the Salmon jump over waterfalls to reach their spawning grounds.
Alaska cruise tours may be arranged in advance, or visitors can set up tours right at the Ketchikan Visitors center, where the cruise ships dock.
These pictures of Ketchikan Alaska should give you a glimpse of what to expect on your Alaskan Vacation. Contact TripTrist at Doreen doreen@triptrist.com for help planning your cruise to Alaska. She visited Ketchikan in 2013 and 2014 on the Celebrity Millennium Cruise ship and is happy to answer any of your questions about visiting Ketchikan, cruising with Celebrity Cruises, other Alaskan Ports of Call or other questions about visiting Alaska. Whale Watching In Ketchikan Alaska - Coral Princess Cruise
My day in the port of Ketchikan, Alaska on the Coral Princess. I got to experience being a pier runner for the first time after an amazing whale watching excursion where we saw eagles, orcas, humpbacks, seals and tons of beautiful rainbows! The Captain's top 40 party and a nice bonus on the slot machines ended the night. Next time will be my last day onboard and the transfer back to Seattle. See you there!

Ketchikan Shore Excursion Visit to Alaska Raptor Center and Creek Street
Ketchikan Shore Excursion Visit to Alaska Raptor Center and Creek Street
This is video from our excursion to the Alaska Rainforest Sanctuary, Raptor Center, and Totem poles. In this video we pick up where we left off after our nature walk through the Tongass rainforest. We watched a native Alaskan tribesman carving a totem pole, visited an historic lumber mill, and then the Alaska Raptor Center. This was the first stop on our Northbound Alaskan cruise sailing out of Vancouver in July. This was one of the excursions offered by the Norweigan Cruise ship. We learned a lot on this tour, the guide was quite knowledgable and shared a lot of information, overall a great experience! The video of the Tongass Rainforest nature walk is here:

Immerse yourself in Ketchikan and see what life was like as a Native Alaskan Tlingit in southeast Alaska.
Ketchikan, Alaska
Ketchikan is Alaska's First City (as it's the first Alaskan city that visitors traveling by sea usually arrive it), Salmon Capital and Rain City (about 150 inches of precipitation per year). It is a popular cruise ship destination. With a number of museums, historic sites, totem poles, shows like the Great American Lumberjack Show, Creek Street and walking tours, there's a lot to see and do in the city beyond the tourist and souvenir shops. Ketchikan is also a good jumping off spot for fishing expeditions, visits to Misty Fjords, flightseeing tours and bear tours. Visitors can also get a good introduction to native Tlingit traditions, culture, art and history.
The Photos (in order)
A14A0266 - We're arriving in downtown Ketchikan by sea; someone else is arriving by seaplane
A14A0273 - Chief Kyan Totem Pole in Whale Park is one of a number of colorful and expressive totem poles found around town
A14A0314 - The Totem Heritage Center has a collection of historic totem poles and provides visitors with a lot of information on this artform
A14A0352 - Ketchikan is a working fishing village - that's why the seafood here is arguably the best and freshest in the word; there are a number of fishing boats in the city's harbor
A14A0377 - Dolly's House Museum harkens back to the day when Creek Street was filled with with brothels for the men working in fishing, lumber and mining; today Creek Street features a number of shops and restaurants that cater to the cruise ship visitors
A14A0412 - Married Man's Trail provided discreet accesses to the Creek Street businesses of days gone by; today it leads up the hill to Cape Fox Lodge hotel and restaurant, which offers some great views of the city; if you'd rather not walk up the hill, take the funicular found on Creek Street
A14A0489 - With little flat land along the waterfront, a number of streets and buildings are located atop pilings out over the water; some of the streets that serve hillside houses are built on trestles due to the lack of flat land
A14A0530 - The famous Bridge to Nowhere was proposed to connect Gravina Island, home to Ketchikan's airport - pictured here - and about 50 residents, to Ketchikan proper on Revillagigedo Island; it would have also promoted more local development on the relatively flat land on Gravina Island; the proposed cost was quite high, though, as the bridge would have had to have been tall enough to accommodate cruise ships, which also means that it would have had to be rather long; but with only 50 residents and the Bridge to Nowhere moniker, the bridge became quite a tough sell and the proposal, um, went nowhere

Alaska Cruise Excursions
► Stop 1 - Ketchikan, AK
In Ketchikan, you have to take a trip down Creek Street! This is a beautiful part of town full of awesome tourist shops and restaurants. You may even spot a sea lion or a few otters! After that, check out the salmon run if you are there during the late Summer or Fall!
► Stop 2 - Juneau, AK
In Juneau, by FAR the best excursion is to hike Mendenhall Glacier. We used Above and Beyond Alaska (ABAK) and loved every minute of our tour! We canoed on Mendenhall Lake and then got to trek ON THE ACTUAL GLACIER!
► Stop 3 - Skagway, AK
Skagway is home to the White Pass Summit and Yukon Trail train ride! This is an incredible train that takes you up a mountain pass and even into Canada! This is a must-do excursion during your time in Skagway
Hi, we are Julie & Zach, a couple who sold everything in 2018 and took off an adventure around the world! So far, this journey has taken us in a van ALL ACROSS the United States and Canada, from snorkeling with manatees in Florida to camping in the Grand Canyon to climbing glaciers in Canada, and everything in between! We were both working and going to school while living in Chicago in 2017 and 2018, and to be honest it really wore on us. We were exhausted, unfulfilled, and ready for an adventure. So, we made it happen! We saved up AS MUCH as we could over those 2 years - all homemade meals, no shopping, walk or bike everywhere, etc - and sold almost all of our belongings! With that money, we bought a renovated a van that we have been living in ever since! We started our YouTube channel a few weeks ago and have been loving creating videos! When we started, we were SO SO SO SO bad at it, and to be honest we still kinda suck, but we want to get better! What videos do you want to see? What do you want to know? Let us know and we will make it happen!
We believe that travel is truly a life-changing experience, it certainly changed ours! When you get out of your everyday world and experience new cultures, foods, places, people, sights, sounds, and take an adventure, you grow as a person and you become a better version of yourself! You are WAY stronger than you know, and stronger than you give yourself credit for. You have the ability to do anything, so make it happen! BE FOREVER FREE!

Researchers place pennies on dock for bioblitz in Ketchikan, Alaska
Researcher Ian Davidson (Portland State University) glues pennies under a Ketchikan dock for a Bioblitz training day. Local volunteers spent the day learning about and looking for marine invasive species—and for pennies. Under water the pennies appear visible and one might think they would be easy to see, but the view from the dock is very different.
