Songshan Shaolin Traditional Wushu Academy
Songyang Academy In Dengfeng City | China（登封－嵩阳书院）
Songyang Academy was one of the oldest academies of higher learning in the Song Dynasty in China and the first of the four academies of the Northen Song Dynasty in China. The other three are Yingtian Academy in Henan Province, Yuelu Academy in Hunan Province and Bailudong Academy in Jiangxi Province. It is famous for its rationalistic Confucian philosophical school. It was originally built in the Northern Song Dynasty in 484 in North Wei Dynasty, for Buddhism activities. Then it was changed to be a Taoism site by Emperor Yang of Sui (569-618). Then it was renamed as Songyang Academy by Emperor Renzong of the Song Dynasty in 1035. Since then, it has been a place for historical eminent people to teach. Famous scholars in Song Dynasty, such as Cheng Hoa, Cheng Yi, Sima Guang, Fan Zhongyan and Zhu Xi, etc., once gave lectures here. There is a 4,500-year-old cypress, granted the title of Great General and Senior General by Emperor Wu of the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-25 AD), seldom in the world.

This form is an authentic Shaolin form called Tong Bei Quan and was performed by Shifu Tony Bahia at the 12th Zhengzhou China International Shaolin Wushu Festival in October 2018 when he won the gold medal for Canada.

We did a weekend trip to Henan Province south of Beijing.
First we went to Zhengzhou the capitol of the Province. I strongly propose to get the bus ticket for the next day directly after arrival. Just check if the bus station is still open. We didn’t do it that way and lost 2h of valuable sight seeing time at the Shaolin Monastery or the overall area.
Zhengzhou has a small little old town with one Main Street and one night market. The most interesting place we found was the local soup restaurant straight at the beginning of the street.
Saturday was Shaolin Monastery day.

The best way to reach in and out of the temple is from the city of Dengfeng.
Where there shuttle bus leave each way on a frequent daily.
It is 5RMB for each ride.
Here I am struggling with my Chinese pronunciation to ask for direction to my next city.
Kungfu of Shaolin Temple in China
Shaolin Temple is the birthplace of Chinese Buddhist Zen ancestors and Kungfu. It is now a world cultural heritage, a national key cultural relics protection unit, and a national AAAAA tourist attraction. It is located under the Wuru Peak of Songshan Mountain in Dengfeng City, Zhengzhou City, Henan Province. It is named Shaolin Temple because it is located in the dense jungle of Shaoshan Mountain in the hinterland of Songshan Mountain. Founded in the nineteenth year of Taihe in the Northern Wei Dynasty (495), Emperor Xiaowen was built at the northern foot of Shaoshu Mountain in Songshan, opposite the capital city of Luoyang, in order to place the revered Indian monk Batuo. Shaolin Temple is often hospitalized, covering an area of about 57600 square meters. The current abbot is Shi Yongxin, the 47th and 33rd generation of Cao Dong's heir, Shamen.
