TOURING THE AMALFI COAST (POSITANO & SORRENTO)
In this Symphony of the Seas Cruise Vlog, we arrive in Naples, Italy! We booked our own private excursion, that picked us up at the cruise port, and took us in a private car to the Amalfi Coast. Our wonderful tour guide, Roberto, took us to the towns of Positano & Sorrento. He was extremely knowledgeable and provided a great service! He had us back at our cruise ship in time for our departure. We highly recommend Roberto at Touring Italy.

AMALFI COAST TRAVEL VLOG PART 2- Sorrento, CAPRI boat tourI, Positano & Amalfi w DJI MAVIC PRO
after staying a few nights in Positano we were sad to leave but excited to stay in Sorrento. From sorrento we did day trips to Amalfi, Isle Of CAPRI and Positano.
We loved Positano so much, we went back there on our way home from Amalfi and it was awesome cause we found a beautiful bar while walking to the beach which had one of the BEST VIEWS (well everywhere along Amalfi coast was gorgeous!)

Capri Tour - What to see on a 1 day trip
Capri - What we saw on our day trip from Sorrento! Stunning views & more.
My video of what to see in Sorrento is here:
My video of what to see in Positano is here (3m10s):

Here's the Capri video narrative:
Capri is a small Italian island in the Bay of Naples, about 5 kilometers from the mainland.
We visited on a day trip in April, arriving via a fast jet ferry from Sorrento and avoiding the peak summer season, when the island can be overrun with tourists.
Capri is also easy to reach by ferry from Naples.
We arrived at Capri’s main port, Marina Grande, which is on the north coast.
From here you can take boat trips, for example to the Blue Grotto, which is a flooded sea-cave, or you can take a boat to the south coast to see the Faraglioni Rocks.
However, with limited time we decided to make for Capri town, then on to to Anacapri and Monte Solaro.
To get from Marina Grande up to Capri town we took the funicular railway which connects the harbour to the Piazzetta, the town’s main square.
Capri’s two main centres, Capri town and its uphill rival Anacapri, are almost entirely given over to tourism and prices can be high.
Capri is a world-famous beauty spot and it’s also a summer favourite of holidaying VIPs.
The Piazzetta is full of fashionable bars and it’s well worth stopping for an espresso. You might even see one of those VIPs!
The square is dominated by a free-standing clock tower.
Note the tiled clock face.
Capri is well known for its maiolica tiles.
Here they can be seen forming a map of the island.
We boarded a crowded bus to Anacapri and explored the island’s second town.
Walking along Via Giuseppe Orlandi, we saw the Casa Rossa, a brightly coloured house built in the late 1800s by an American colonel. It’s now a museum.
Continuing along this road, we reached Piazza San Nicola and the Church of San Michele, built in Italian baroque style at the turn of the 18th century.
Built on an octagonal Greek cross plan, the church is famous for its maiolica floor decoration depicting the expulsion of Adam and Eve. It was completed in 1761.
For an impressive view of the entire floor, you can climb the spiral staircase to the organ loft and look out over the church from above.
More maiolica tiles can be seen nearby, decorating the benches in Piazza Armando Diaz.
The Monte Solaro chairlift is also in Anacapri, and it reaches the top of the 589 meters high mountain within minutes.
From the summit there are picturesque views over the island and across the Bay of Naples and the Gulf of Salerno.
There’s also a great view of the Faraglioni Rocks from here.
These three spurs of rock rise from the sea within meters of the coast and are one of the favourite destinations for boat tours of the island’s coast.
We hiked down from the summit back to Anacapri. The path is quite uneven in places but the walk is well worth it for the changing panoramas.
On the way down, you can see a series of small bronze plaques. Each represents a stop on the Via Crucis, or Way of the Cross.
We headed back to Marina Grande and caught the last ferry back to Sorrento, which left late afternoon.
You can see plenty of this beautiful island in a few hours, but don’t expect to fit everything in.
Next time, maybe we’ll get to the Blue Grotto!

Italy: Amalfi Coast Drive from Sorrento to Positano
The Amalfi Drive (formally Strada Statale 163) is the conventional name of a stretch of road which runs along the stretch of the Amalfi Coast between the southern Italian towns of Sorrento and Amalfi. The road was originally built by the Romans. The drive between Salerno, at the southern base of the peninsula, and Positano follows the coast for about 80 km (50 mi).
For the greater part of its route, the road is carved out of the side of the coastal cliffs, giving spectacular views down to the Tyrrhenian Sea and on the other side up to the towering cliffs above. The road passes through the village of Positano, which is built on the side of the hill. Both the village and the whole drive are leading tourist attractions in the area.
The Amalfi coast is an UNESCO-listed landscape lined with small towns precariously perched between mountains & the sea.

The BEST Amalfi Coast Driving Tour! 4K UHD
Enjoy a 4K UHD tour along Italy's most beautiful coastline, The Amalfi Coast (Italian: Costiera Amalfitana) in this episode of Prowalk Tours. The Amalfi Drive, formerly known as the SS 163, is considered to be the most scenic stretch of coastline in Europe and one of the best coastal drives in the world. Unfortunately, when you are stuck in a car or in a bus, it is not possible to get a good view. In this scooter video, you will get the best possible view for the entire 80 km (50 miles). This video was filmed on September 7th, 2019. I started the day by renting a scooter at Jollyrents in Sorrento (link below). I mounted two cameras, the DJI Osmo Pocket and the Insta360 One X. The Osmo pocket video was filmed in 4K at 60fps. At minute 1:17:59, the Osmo Pocket camera battery died so the remaining part of the video is from the Insta360 One X camera. To see the 360 version of this drive, click on the following link: Let's go for a drive!

The BEST way to Get to Positano! ⛴
How to Guide to getting to Postiano on the Amalfi Coast (including a stop in the town of Amalfi). Know the right way before you go -there are several ways to get to Positano, Italy (via SITA bus from Sorrento, car service, etc). Taking the Travelmar ferry from Salerno is the best combination of speed and value. Only 1 hour and 15 minutes, the ferry is quicker than the bus or taxi and offers the best views. Getting to Positano is easy, leaving is much harder.

Private Boat Cruise From Sorrento to Capri Italy and Back
Private Boat Cruise From Sorrento to Capri Italy and Back.
As it was for our drive along the Amalfi Coast, the size of our small group made it possible to hire a private boat and skipper to take use for a boat cruise from Sorrento to the island of Capri of the Amalfi Coast of Italy. It was a gorgeous day for a boat cruise, the sun was shining and the Mediterranean Sea was relatively calm with just a few small waves. We hopped on the boat early and started cruising along the Sorrento coastline exploring the natural beauty as our boat made it's way toward edge of the Amalfi coast and then out to Capri.
Sorrento is a coastal town on the Mediterranean coast of Italy. It is just south of Naples and just around the corner from the Amalfi Coast.
Capri is an island just off the Amalfi Coast on the Mediterranean side of Italy.

CAPRI, ITALY BOAT TOUR-Featuring The Blue Grotto!
The island of Capri, Italy is a short 30 minute ferry ride from Sorrento. It's one of the most beautiful and famous islands in the world due to it's stunning topography-cliffs that fall into turquoise waters, its many grottoes (caves), its marinas filled with yachts, and of course, the famous Blue Grotto. It's also a great place to people watch and take in the spectacular views. We took a boat ride around the island and my favorites were the Green Grotto (7:56) and the Blue Grotto (9:14)!

Places to see in ( Sorrento - Italy )
Places to see in ( Sorrento - Italy )
Sorrento - Italy is a coastal town in southwestern Italy, facing the Bay of Naples on the Sorrentine Peninsula. Perched atop cliffs that separate the town from its busy marinas, it’s known for sweeping views and Piazza Tasso, a cafe-lined square. The historic center is a warren of narrow alleys that includes the Chiesa di San Francesco, a 14th-century church with a tranquil cloister.
( Sorrento - Italy ) small city in Campania has earned a plethora of alluring names. Famed for its sea cliffs, the town's steep slopes look out over azure waters to Ischia, Capri and the Bay of Naples. The birthplace of Limoncello liqueur offers some good diving, great sea fishing, boat cruises and appetizing restaurants. Excellent hiking trails cross the peninsula. Rent a car or take a taxi if the steep streets look too intimidating.
Capri - Italy , an island in Italy’s Gulf of Naples, is famed for its rugged landscape, upscale beach resorts and high-end shops selling handmade leather sandals and signature limoncello liqueur. One of its best-known natural sites is the Blue Grotto, a dark cavern where the sea glows electric blue, the result of sunlight passing through an underwater cave.
( Capri - Italy ) is pure romance—dramatic views, the bluest ocean you’ve ever seen, even the scent of lemon blossoms in the air. The luminescent Blue Grotto, striking Faraglioni Rocks and the Palazzo al Mare are popular with travelers, but for a real treat, snorkel at Marina Piccola beach. It’s said to be the spot where Odysseus nearly succumbed to the Sirens’ song… a fitting legend for this alluring island.
Naples - Italy , a big city in southern Italy, sits on the Bay of Naples near Mt. Vesuvius. Dating to the 2nd millennium B.C.E., it has centuries of important art and architecture. Its landmarks include Naples Cathedral, whose Chapel of San Gennaro is filled with frescoes and statues, and the lavish Royal Palace. Naples is also renowned for its distinctive style of thin-crust pizza.
( Napoli - Italy ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting the city of Napoli.
Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Napoli - Italy

Blue Grotto, Capri, Italy - Relaxing boat tour. Grotto Azzurra
The Blue Grotto (Grotto Azzura in Italian) is Capri’s jewel in the crown. This legendary sea cave was once the Roman Emperor Tiberius’ private swimming pool. Bathed in an ethereal blue light it is your must see place to visit on the island.
Thinking of visiting the Grotto on a visit to Capri to see the natural phenomenon for yourself or just fancy watching a tranquil, relaxing boat ride, whichever I hope you enjoy the film.
How to get there: The Grotto is located on the north west coast of the island. If you don’t have a car you can either take a boat from Marina Grande or travel there by bus.
A boat tour from Marina Grande will cost you about 26 euros, comprising the trip to the cave, the rowing boat that takes you into the cave and your entrance fee. Allow about an hour and a half. At peak times there can be quite a line to enter the cave. There are various boat tours including a tour around the island.
Alternatively you can travel there by bus. Buses run from the port Marina Grande to Capri or Anacapri. The bus from Marina Grande to Anacapri takes about 20 minutes and 15 minutes from there to the Grotto. Or why not take the funicular up to Capri and catch the bus from there. The ticket office is to the right as you get off the ferry. A day pass “unico Capri” costs 6.90 euros and covers all your island travel except the Monte Solaro cable car. Take the bus to Anacapri, change then take the bus to the Blue Grotto, you can’t miss it as it is the last stop. Walk down the stairs and wait for your rowing boat. If you travel by bus you wont have to hang around waiting for the rest of your party to go into the grotto.
Once you have enjoyed the grotto take some refreshments at the kiosk up above the grotto before taking the bus back to Capri or Anacapri to carry on your sightseeing.
Tips:
Best light is apparently noon until 2pm. Queues reduce after 3pm but the sea can get rougher and sometimes is too rough to enter. Go early to avoid the lines.
You will need to climb into a row boat. Each rowing boat only holds 3 passengers and the oarsman. You buy your entrance ticket at a floating ticket office first, no credit cards accepted so have enough cash. Be prepared to enter the cave you will need to lie down flat in the boat, the boatman will then pull the boat into the narrow opening of the cave with a chain. It’s a tight squeeze.
The rowing boat costs 13 euros each, which includes the 4 euro entrance fee and don’t forget to tip your guide, be prepared for 5 – 10 euros, it will make him happy.
Money saving tip:
Entrance to the Grotto is free on the first Sunday of every month.
The History Bit:
The cave was discovered by the Romans and used by Emperor Tiberius’ as a private bathing pool and temple. A number of statues have been found in the cave and some are still believed to be lying at the bottom of the cave. The cave became abandoned as locals feared it was inhabited by spirits until it was rediscovered in 1826 and popularised by the writer August Lopisch and painter Ernst Fries.
The Science Bit:
Why does the water inside the cave appear to be bathed in an ethereal blue light?
There are actually two entrance holes into the cave, one directly below the other. The small top hole is the boat entrance to the cave. The lower hole is below the line of the water allows light into the cave which lights up the bottom of the cave, but filters out all but the blue light giving the water it’s brilliant emerald blue colour.
