AMALFI COAST TRAVEL VLOG PART 2- Sorrento, CAPRI boat tourI, Positano & Amalfi w DJI MAVIC PRO
after staying a few nights in Positano we were sad to leave but excited to stay in Sorrento. From sorrento we did day trips to Amalfi, Isle Of CAPRI and Positano.
We loved Positano so much, we went back there on our way home from Amalfi and it was awesome cause we found a beautiful bar while walking to the beach which had one of the BEST VIEWS (well everywhere along Amalfi coast was gorgeous!)

Private Boat Cruise From Sorrento to Capri Italy and Back
Private Boat Cruise From Sorrento to Capri Italy and Back.
As it was for our drive along the Amalfi Coast, the size of our small group made it possible to hire a private boat and skipper to take use for a boat cruise from Sorrento to the island of Capri of the Amalfi Coast of Italy. It was a gorgeous day for a boat cruise, the sun was shining and the Mediterranean Sea was relatively calm with just a few small waves. We hopped on the boat early and started cruising along the Sorrento coastline exploring the natural beauty as our boat made it's way toward edge of the Amalfi coast and then out to Capri.
Sorrento is a coastal town on the Mediterranean coast of Italy. It is just south of Naples and just around the corner from the Amalfi Coast.
Capri is an island just off the Amalfi Coast on the Mediterranean side of Italy.

Naples, Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast
Recorded August 14, 2013
The Royal Princess docks in Naples, Italy. I then journey to Sorrento and after lunch continue on to Salerno. In Salerno I board a small boat for a scenic cruise along the Amalfi Coast. We disembark the boat for a short visit in the town of Amalfi. We then take the boat back to Salerno. It's then back to Naples where I sail away on the Royal Princess at sunset.

Here's the Capri video narrative:
Capri is a small Italian island in the Bay of Naples, about 5 kilometers from the mainland.
We visited on a day trip in April, arriving via a fast jet ferry from Sorrento and avoiding the peak summer season, when the island can be overrun with tourists.
Capri is also easy to reach by ferry from Naples.
We arrived at Capri’s main port, Marina Grande, which is on the north coast.
From here you can take boat trips, for example to the Blue Grotto, which is a flooded sea-cave, or you can take a boat to the south coast to see the Faraglioni Rocks.
However, with limited time we decided to make for Capri town, then on to to Anacapri and Monte Solaro.
To get from Marina Grande up to Capri town we took the funicular railway which connects the harbour to the Piazzetta, the town’s main square.
Capri’s two main centres, Capri town and its uphill rival Anacapri, are almost entirely given over to tourism and prices can be high.
Capri is a world-famous beauty spot and it’s also a summer favourite of holidaying VIPs.
The Piazzetta is full of fashionable bars and it’s well worth stopping for an espresso. You might even see one of those VIPs!
The square is dominated by a free-standing clock tower.
Note the tiled clock face.
Capri is well known for its maiolica tiles.
Here they can be seen forming a map of the island.
We boarded a crowded bus to Anacapri and explored the island’s second town.
Walking along Via Giuseppe Orlandi, we saw the Casa Rossa, a brightly coloured house built in the late 1800s by an American colonel. It’s now a museum.
Continuing along this road, we reached Piazza San Nicola and the Church of San Michele, built in Italian baroque style at the turn of the 18th century.
Built on an octagonal Greek cross plan, the church is famous for its maiolica floor decoration depicting the expulsion of Adam and Eve. It was completed in 1761.
For an impressive view of the entire floor, you can climb the spiral staircase to the organ loft and look out over the church from above.
More maiolica tiles can be seen nearby, decorating the benches in Piazza Armando Diaz.
The Monte Solaro chairlift is also in Anacapri, and it reaches the top of the 589 meters high mountain within minutes.
From the summit there are picturesque views over the island and across the Bay of Naples and the Gulf of Salerno.
There’s also a great view of the Faraglioni Rocks from here.
These three spurs of rock rise from the sea within meters of the coast and are one of the favourite destinations for boat tours of the island’s coast.
We hiked down from the summit back to Anacapri. The path is quite uneven in places but the walk is well worth it for the changing panoramas.
On the way down, you can see a series of small bronze plaques. Each represents a stop on the Via Crucis, or Way of the Cross.
We headed back to Marina Grande and caught the last ferry back to Sorrento, which left late afternoon.
You can see plenty of this beautiful island in a few hours, but don’t expect to fit everything in.
Next time, maybe we’ll get to the Blue Grotto!

Sorrento - Italy
Featured Hotels in Sorrento:
Sorrento is a small city in Campania, southern Italy, with some 16,500 inhabitants. It is a popular tourist destination. The town can be reached easily from Naples and Pompeii, as it lies at the south-eastern end of the Circumvesuviana rail line. The town overlooks the bay of Naples, as the key place of the Sorrentine Peninsula, and many viewpoints in the city allow sight of Naples itself (visible across the bay), Vesuvius and the island of Capri.
The Amalfi Drive (connecting Sorrento and Amalfi) is the narrow road that threads around the high cliffs above the Tyrrhenian Sea.
Ferry boats and hydrofoils provide services to Naples, Amalfi, Positano, Capri and Ischia. Sorrento's sea cliffs and luxury hotels have attracted famous personalities, including Enrico Caruso and Luciano Pavarotti.
Sorrento is famous for the production of limoncello, an alcoholic digestif made from lemon rinds, alcohol, water and sugar. Other agricultural production includes citrus fruit, wine, nuts and olives. Wood craftsmanship is also developed.

Day Trip to Sorrento, Italy Travel Guide Video Transcript:
Considered the official start of the Amalfi Coast, the cliff-perched town of Sorrento makes for a quick and easy day trip. We caught the train in Pompei at Villa dei Misteri and took the Circumvesuviana line all the way down the coast. Our plan for the day? To eat and wander around without much of an itinerary.
Since we were visiting just before the holidays, the streets were decked out with all sorts of Christmas decorations. We befriended a few dogs along the way, and then we found a spot to indulge in coffees and pastries.
After walking through the town, we started making our way down to the waterfront, more specifically, to Marina Grande. This harbour is line with pastel-coloured buildings, boats bobbing in the water, and lots of seafood restaurants.
After walking the length of the marina and browsing through menus, we finally settled on a restaurant for lunch: Zi’Ntonio Mare.
Making our way back to town, we also attempted to visit Sorrento Cathedral, but we arrived outside of opening hours so here’s a quick look from the exterior.
From there, we continued down some of Sorrento’s pedestrian-friendly side streets, which were lined with small shops and outdoor produce stalls. Limoncello seemed to be by far the most popular souvenir, so if you’re looking for a taste of the famed lemon liqueur, this is a good place to stock up!
Our last stop of the day were the Cloisters of San Francis, where there was a small art exhibition taking place. These cloisters are also located in small park with great views of the coastline and the Mediterranean Sea, so we enjoyed the views one last time and then it was time to head back.
This is part of our Travel in Italy video series showcasing Italian food, Italian culture and Italian cuisine.

To get to the Island of Capri, you can either go from Naples or go from Sorrento. Both are a great choice for those wishing to combine their visit to Capri with a tour of the Amalfi Coast or a trip to Pompei and Herculaneum.
During the summer season boats also depart from Positano, Amalfi, Salerno and Ischia, although passengers should be aware that the service is less frequent compared with those operated from Naples and Sorrento.
The times of ferries and hydrofoils sailing to Capri are subject to variation, and travellers are well advised to consult the web sites or contact the navigation companies or Capri tourist office prior to departure to confirm departure times.

SORRENTO, ITALY-Gateway to the Amalfi Coast and Capri
While Sorrento is a great home base for day trips to the Amalfi Coast and Capri, it's a beautiful, quaint city/town in its own right. You get amazing views of the Bay of Naples from high above and the sunsets are awesome. Sorrento is a great town to just walk around and explore the various restaurants and shops and to people watch. And yes, it's easy to catch the ferry to Capri and to take a day trip to see the beautiful Amalfi Coast. All in all, definitely worth a visit here.

THE TRAIN RIDE FROM HELL!-Naples to Sorrento, Italy
This train station and train ride experience made me a bit uncomfortable shall we say. The Naples main train station has a reputation for pickpockets but it's a fairly nice station. However, when you take the local train from Naples to Sorrento, you descend into a different, not as nice station. Once on the train, you make several, and I mean several, stops on a train that is old and going too fast for its own good. Every station we stopped at had graffiti. All in all, not a great experience and one I will not be repeating.
