I actually had the pleasure of meeting the President and he featured us in a speech in march of '09 as kind of the new, green , energy economy.
Jobs and I think quite frankly there is a common vision there for energy independence.

Around the Corner with John McGivern | Program | Manitowoc (#711)
[Latest Airdate: July 5, 2018]
[Original Airdate: March 8, 2018]
Manitowoc is a city on the eastern shore of Wisconsin, north of Sheboygan and south of Green Bay that John McGivern LOVES! No, we mean it.
Visits to the Wisconsin Maritime Museum and exploration of the SS Badger were the beginning of his enchantment. Then he was introduced to beach glass, reminisced with an Evergleam Christmas tree collector, and explored Jagemann Stamping and Briess Malt and Ingredients Co. He had a Diet Coke with Kathie at the Stage Door Pub, made a belt at Leatherwerks and checked in to Dead by Dawn --- not sure that he would ever check out! But the cherry on the top was provided by Beerntsen's Confectionary and Cedar Crest Ice Cream! Yum! What's not to love?
Fair warning to those in Manitowoc: Don't be surprised if some day there's a Manitowoc mailbox with John's name on it. By being so inviting, you asked for it, Manitowoc!

3 injured after a semi-truck collides with a garbage truck on Memorial Drive in Manitowoc
On Monday, September 30th, 2019, at approximately 10:15 a.m., the Manitowoc Police Department was dispatched to the intersection of Memorial Drive and Mirro Drive, in the City of Manitowoc, for a report of an accident involving two large trucks.
MTPD Officers learned that a garbage truck, being driven by a 39-year-old Manitowoc male, was turning north onto Memorial Drive from Mirro Drive when a semi-tractor/trailer traveling south on Memorial Drive collided with the garbage truck in the intersection. The semi was being driven by a 52-year-old rural Manitowoc man. A 33-year-old Manitowoc female was a passenger in the garbage truck. All three subjects were injured as a result of the accident and they were transported to area hospitals.
All south and northbound lanes of travel on Memorial Drive were closed to vehicle traffic while the accident was being investigated. All lanes of Memorial Drive reopened at 5:05 p.m. on September 30th, once the trucks were removed and the roadway was cleared of debris.
The driver of the garbage truck was cited for failure to yield the right of way while making a left-hand turn.
The Manitowoc Police Department was assisted on scene by the Manitowoc Fire Department, the Two Rivers Police Department, the Manitowoc County Highway Department, Manitowoc-DPI, and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
The attached audio/video is from a Maritime (City of Manitowoc) Metro Transit Bus.
The video is a reminder of the importance of making sure that all through traffic lanes are clear before entering an intersection from a stop sign
