To fully appreciate this example of normal reckless driving style (light version), it needs to be pointed out that in Sri Lanka the regular driving lane is the left side of the road. Many of this kind of bus drivers, once they sit in their roaring fortress, turn into noise making, life threatening megalomaniac Over Lords, rattling their signal horns like weapons against weaker users of the roads which obviously should only belong to them. Get the Hell out of my way, or die!

I mean I'm just very happy that I could see the family and come back to Sri Lanka in one piece and that every breath I take I am pretty glad that I can take it without a problem. I mean you just think about life and everything is in front of you, in a moment just flashing across when you go through an incident like this. None of us, if you speak to any of us the whole (team) members, honestly would have said to you that they never thought that they would come alive out of that situation. And we are very lucky that no one came across any serious injuries, life threatening, and that everyone is in good shape. There are a few guys who need a bit more time to recover and that we can hopefully put this behind us and move forward.

STORYLINE:
Sri Lanka's national cricket team arrived home in the capital Colombo before dawn on Wednesday, clearly shaken and weary after their team bus was ambushed by heavily armed gunmen in Pakistan a day earlier in an attack that killed six policemen and a driver.
Their arrival came just as Pakistan announced it was offering a 126-thousand US dollar reward for help in identifying the gunmen who attacked the team.
About a dozen attackers armed with guns, grenades and rocket launchers attacked the visiting players as they neared Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Tuesday, triggering a 15-minute gun battle with security forces.
Six police officers and a driver were killed. Seven players, an umpire and an assistant coach were wounded, but none of the injuries were life-threatening.
Team captain Mahela Jayawardene said at one stage the team did not think they would survive the attack.
Jayawardene said he was happy to be home and glad he and his team-mates had survived the traumatic experience.
Authorities cancelled the test match against Pakistan and a special flight carried the Sri Lanka team - including Thilan Samaraweera and Tharanga Paranavitana who had been hospitalised with bullet wounds - back to Colombo.
On arrival, the exhausted-looking players had an emotional private reunion with their families.
One of the players was taken from the airport to a hospital in Colombo.
Kumar Sangakkara, Ajantha Mendis, Suranka Lakmal and Chaminda Vaas had minor wounds, and a bandage was clearly visible around Mendis' head.

Colombo is not just another crowded city in South Asia as you’d expect it to be. You’ll find it is cleaner and less polluted than the rest of the SAARC countries. It stands at the 01st place for Mercer quality of living ranking in #SouthAsia and holds 18th place in the whole of #Asia.
According to Mercer, Sri Lanka’s commercial capital has the 05th highest cost of living in South Asia but only 33rd of whole Asia. Colombo is also ranked as 13th best connectivity port in the whole world by Drewry .
It is also the Financial and commercial capital of the Island nation Sri Lanka.
History of Colombo in brief
Colombo was well known since the early days as a port city. Early#Arabiantraders inhabited the area to control the international trading activities of ancient #Ceylon.
Unsurprisingly, the #Portuguese took over the port city from #Arabs to strengthen their #cinnamon trade in the region. They built a fortified fort near the harbour to protect themselves from other colonial powers.
The fort, however, doesn’t exist today and the area still identified as Colombo Fort which houses fancy hotels and head offices of major companies. The outer area is called “Pettah”.
After the #Portuguese, #TheDutch and #English made Colombo the capital of the Island and began to establish their official residences and government institutions. Due to this visitors to the city will find many samples of colonial architecture to feast their eyes upon.
How to get in there?
The capital is well-connected from all over the island. Getting there is not a big deal. (duh)
Arriving at #Bandaranayake International Airport at #Katunayake , Colombo is the first destination many travellers visit before heading to the hills country or southern beaches. The airport is located 32 km to the north of the capital city so I’m going to mention the ways to get in Colombo from there.
By Taxi
You don’t need to pre-book for Airport transfers. There is a 24 hour AC taxi service maintained by the Airport itself (BIA taxi).
The taxi lounge is to your right when exiting the airport next to the banks.
Alternatively, there are many reputed taxi services like Kangaroo Cabs, PickMe and of course good old Uber.
Hiring a taxi is the best option especially if you arrive at an ungodly hour when public transport is unreliable and sparse. You can also opt for a hotel transfer if it is cheaper but most of the time it is not.
The expressway (E03) to Colombo has tolls hence you’ll have to pay the toll fee (LKR 300) as well. Drivers must be paid in cash (LKR) at the end of the journey except for #Uber.
Make sure to book a cab from an official taxi service desk such as BIA. Avoid touts hanging around the waiting area at all cost.
For #KangarooCabs and #PickMe, there are apps which should be used to do the bookings. Buy a local SIM at the Airport for this purpose.
By Train
Although not recommended, commuter trains operate on this line and you get in at #Katunayake #SouthRailwaystation (Investment Promotion Zone) located some 02 km from the Airport just left of the fly-over bridge.
Please refer to the above-linked map exactly as there is another station so close to the Airport but it is used for freight trains only.
