From The Heart of Belize - St John's Cathedral
The St. John's Anglican Cathedral isn't any ordinary building.
Construction began in 1812 when the first cornerstone was laid. The Church has since served the Anglican congregation in Belize for over 200 years and is also the only church outside of Europe that has hosted the crowning of Kings!

The Saint John’s Cathedral Church at the end of Albert Street in downtown Belize City is a landmark structure, having been erected centuries ago. Over the years, the building has endured its share of wear and tear, but now the historic cathedral has received a much needed facelift. The Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation through the Belize City House of Culture and Downtown Rejuvenation Project, has completed phase one of the restoration of the house of worship, at over a hundred thousand dollars. The renovation work began in June 2018 and concluded back in August, but an official service of appreciation will be held this Sunday at four p.m. Earlier today, News Five spoke with project director John Arana.

BELIZE MUSEUM, Belize City, Belize
While we were on the mainland the last time we went to the Museum in Belize City. We are ruin junkies and the treasure of the Maya are here and we have wanted to see these many times. We drove down and navigated the busy streets of Belize City. The Museum is housed in the old Prison built in the 1850s. Along with the Mayan relics are the exhibits on Slavery, Belize Artists, Rise of Colonialists and Insects which was closer the day we were there.
Some very interesting things housed here and well worth coming into town for. Might be one of the few times I would say take a package tour through someone so you don't have to drive yourself, traffic was interesting and the route to the museum is quite convoluted, just because we did not know our way around town. All in all well worth the time and effort the cost to enter the museum is minimal so that is not a worry .. don't get locked in like me though .. enjoy

The project consists of hard and soft components. The hard component includes physical works on (1) rejuvenation of the Belize City House of Culture and its grounds; (2) rejuvenation of selected historic buildings; and (3) development of public space/landscaping.
