Our beloved youth all over Asia, as we know that at the end of Asian Youth Day 2014 in South Korea, it had been decided that the next AYD in 2017 will be held in Indonesia; thus the Catholic Church became so happy of that decision. It was our honors to Indonesia Catholic Church, especially the youth, to welcome you in this beloved country.
We just want to say, behind all the history of this country, there is God’s salvation, miracles and way of life to have the freedom in choosing any religions, faiths, and cultures. We have our fundamental way of life: Pancasila, to unite all the diversity here.
Talk about Jakarta, the history of Jakarta Diocese started in 1807 when the first Apostolic Prefecture was built. Jakarta’s residents are about 10 million but the Catholics are only 409.000. It’s a very small percentage. In Jakarta Diocese, there are 65 parishes and those parishes are only located in the middle of the city; for example is Cathedral Church. In Cathedral Church, the old people become the majority of the catholic people because many youth move to the downtown. The families are also coming from different places all over country.
The most interesting of Jakarta Diocese is there are many activities and movements in this diocese: youth movements, senior movements, old people movements, children and teenagers movements; and other movements and services.
We wish that Asian Youth Day 2017 will come to its success and hope that this opportunity would become the blessed chances to know and have deeper friendship within the nations and countries as the unity of Jesus Christ Children. We wish also that our unity as one family in faith of Jesus Christ would be stronger and full with joyful because of gospel can be felt and seen through our daily life. We hope that all the participants, the committee, and all the contributed people would be blessed by God. Amen.

Adik-adik kaum muda se-Asia yang terkasih, seperti semua kita tahu pada akhir AYD tahun 2014 di Korea Selatan diputuskan bahwa AYD tahun 2017 akan di laksanakan di Indonesia, tentu Gereja Katolik di Indonesia sangat bersyukur atas keputusan itu merupakan suatau kehormatan bagi Gereja Katolik di Indonesia khususnya kaum mudanya untuk menerima Anda sekalian di Negeri ini, saya hanya mau mengatakan dibalik sejarah negeri ini ada karya keselamatan Allah, ada muzijat, ada tuntunan hidup di negeri ini memeluk agama apapun dari buadaya apapun lAndasan hidup bersamanya adalah Pancasila, sejarah KeUskupan ini mulai tahun 1807 ketika di dirikan Perfektur Apostolik yang pertama. penduduk di Jakata ini sekitar 10 juta umat Katolik dari KeUskupan ini hanya 409000 sekitar itu sehingga prosentase nya sangat kecil. Keluarganya juga berasal dari berbagai macam wilayah di Negeri ini. Yang paling menarik adalah ada sekian banyak gerakan di KeUskupan ini gerakan orang-orang muda, orang-orang senior, orang-orang tua, anak-anak segala macam gerakan dan pelayanan ada besama-sama dengan umat KeUskupan Agung Jakara saya ini berdoa bagi keberhasilan AYD tahun 2107 ini, semoga kesempatan ini menjadi kesempatan berahmat bagi Anda sekalian menjadi kesempatan untuk saling membina mengenal persabahatan antar bangsa sehingga kesatuan kita sebagai murid-murid Yesus Kristus di perteguh iman kita diperkuat dan paling penting kegembiraan kita karena Injil dapat kita saksikan dalam di hidup perjalanan dan dimanapun kita berada semoga kita sekalian seluruh penyelenggara dan panitia teman-teman yang live-in ditempat lain selalu dilindungi oleh Allah yang Mahakuasa Bapa Putra dan Roh Kudus . Production Date: 2015
Indonesia: a country with the largest Muslim population in the world. Of two hundred million Indonesians, approximately eighty-seven percent are Muslim, mainly Sunni. There are numerous other groups, a few with a vociferous fundamentalist bent, though a tolerant Islam based on Javan traditions dominates. A saying that has become widespread claims that Indonesia presents Islam’s ‘smiling face’.
Despite this Muslim majority, Indonesia has not become an Islamic state. It remains an experiment of peaceful co-existence of various religions, reflected in the country’s motto ‘Unity in Diversity’. This is neither, however, a secular country. Faith in God, reflected in the country’s six official religions – Buddhism, Hinduism, Confucianism, Catholicism, Protestantism and Islam is reflected in the nation’s Constitution.
Christians from various denominations make up about twelve percent of Indonesia’s population. Three percent – seven million Indonesians – adhere to the Catholic faith. The circumstances of Christians however vary considerably from region to region, depending on which of the seventeen thousand islands they inhabit. In this film we will visit two islands – the phenomenon of the uniquely Catholic island of Flores, with its overflowing seminaries, and the island of Java, with its often uneasy Christian-Muslim relationship, which all at once provides hope that an open dialogue can lead to a peaceful co-existence between the communities.
