Bandung is the capital city of West Java Province. Bandung is a great place to visit any time of the year as it’s not only renowned for its picturesque open vista, but the town also offers many attractions well worth a visit. Surrounded by green fertile mountains, Bandung today is Indonesia’s center for learning and creativity. Today Bandung is one of Indonesia’s most prestigious university towns.
Well known for its friendly climate, Bandung soon grew into a town for wealthy planters who owned the miles and miles of tea, coffee and cinchona plantations, fruit orchards and vegetable gardens in the cool and fertile hills of West Java. Now Bandung became the center for textile mills producing much of Indonesia’s textiles for fashion wear, linen and upholstery. This city offers trendy fashion wear at reasonable prices at its myriad factory outlets, a wide range of delicious local and international cuisines, and a distinct colonial European-style atmosphere combined with captivating traditional arts.
You may be overwhelmed with the large number of factory outlets scattered along Dago (Ir H Djuanda), Riau (RE Martadinata), Cihampelas, and Setiabudi. Shop to your heart’s content and grab famous brands, trendy fashion and a lot more with surprisingly affordable price!

City Description:
Bandung, capital of Indonesia’s West Java province, is a large city set amid volcanoes and tea plantations. It's known for colonial and art deco architecture, a lively, university-town feel and – thanks to its 768m elevation – relatively cool tropical weather. Bandung is also a shopping destination, with fashion outlets clustered along Jalan Setiabudi and Jalan Riau in the Dago district.Nicknamed the “Paris of Java” during the Dutch colonial period, Bandung retains 1920s and ’30s landmarks like the Neoclassical Gedung Sate (“Satay Building”). Now the office of the provincial governor, it has a rooftop resembling the Indonesian skewered meat dish. There’s also the art deco mansion Villa Isola and the Sundanese-roofed Ceremonial Hall at the acclaimed Institut Teknologi Bandung. Nearby natural sites include Tangkuban Perahu (“upside-down boat”) volcano, with trekking and horseback riding above active craters. There's also the light-turquoise crater lake, Kawah Putih, and Patenggang Lake, surrounded by tea plantations.
Weather and Events:
Bandung has a tropical highland climate, with ample rainfall. Its elevation makes it cooler than coastal and lowland regions. The dry season (May–Oct) is followed by the wet monsoon period (Nov–Apr). Peak travel months include May, Aug and Dec–Jan. The Festival of Lights (Oct/Nov, dates vary) marks Diwali, a Hindu tradition, with illuminated street parades and fireworks. Islamic celebrations include Eid al-Fitr (dates vary), with feasting to mark the end of Ramadan.
