Buniayu Cave, Sukabumi, West Java, Indonesia - Best Travel Destination
The sheer sensation of descending deep inside the earth surfac e on a caving adventure must surely be one of a kind experience. Among the few known caves in Indonesia accessible by vertical entrance is the Buniayu Cave in Sukabumi. Buniayu cave is located in the Kerta Angsana Village, Nyalindung district, Sukabumi Regency, in the Provice of West Java. The name Buniayu derives from two Sundanese words: “Buni” and “Ayu”. “Buni” literally translated meaning: well covered or hidden, while “Ayu” means Beautiful, thus, Buniayu means Hidden Beauty which is the perfect description of what this cave is all about. Living up to its name, the Buniayu cave offers surprising beauty hidden beneath the earth which can only be reached through a thrilling caving adventure. Just like an underground natural museum, the cave showcases some of the most fascinating natural structures such as stalactites, stalagmites, flow stones, columns, draperies, gourdams, and a whole lot more. Speleologists and cave enthusiasts often describe Buniayu as a natural laboratory that allows them to learn more about the earth and its development. In all, the Buniayu Cave system comprises three main caves, which are: the Kerek Cave, Wisata Cave, and the Landak Cave. For the general visitors, the Wisata and Landak Caves can be explored by almost anyone and do not require any special preparations. One just needs to wear a comfortable outfit and bring light food and drink. To capture this amazing beauty of the Buniayu cave, you are allowed to bring and use a camera. Do remember, though, to equip this with a dry bag. Buniayu Cave is open to the public only on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The other days are kept5 for the place and nature to restore itself. Make sure to arrange your trip beforehand through any of a number of operators available.
Ujung Genteng, Sukabumi, West Java, Indonesia
Ujung Genteng is a small fishing village in an area of outstanding natural beauty in the Sukabumi Regency in West Java, Indonesia, about 80 Kilometers from Sukabumi. Ujung Genteng is famous for its Green Turtle nature reserve, surfing beaches and waterfalls, with Ombak Tujuh (The Seventh Wave) Beach as one of the most extreme surfing beaches in Indonesia often visited from Bali and growing in popularity with surfers from Australia and other countries. Despite a six-hour road journey, 90% of visitors to Ujung Genteng still come from Jakarta and Bandung, who visit the area as this is still the nearest beach to these major cities that is virtually untouched. Its white coral beaches are surrounded by coral reef, where locals dive for Lobsters, one of the main sources of income for the people of the area. As the area is growing in popularity, tourism is becoming the main source of income for the local population and part of the rich tourist heritage of Indonesia. Plans by the government are already underway in developing and preserving this area for the future. Toll roads virtually complete from Bandung and Jakarta will be completed by 2015. The Japanese occupied this area as strategic location during the World War II, with Christmas Island directly South and a link to Australia. Relics of their occupation in the area are still well preserved, the old Japanese harbor is broken but still the main landmark, Look out towers and hidden caves can still be visited and seen at the end of the Ujung Genteng peninsula. Accommodation is primarily still local style properties that encroach on the conservation area, the area only has one official hotel which is near the boundary bridge of the Conservation area on the road towards Cibuaya.
