Levoča (Slovakia) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Levoča in Slovakia.
In the east of Slovakia is Levoča, formerly, Leutschau. In 1317 the city became a free royal town with numerous privileges. Kaschau Gate is the most beautiful of the three well-preserved city gates and the two and a half kilometre city wall once contained fifteen bastions. Levoča eventually became the capital of the region occupied by the Zipser Saxons. The main square contains forty Renaissance-style buildings once owned by the Bourgeoisie and indicate the former wealth of the inhabitants of this city of trade. Jakob Cathedral is regarded as a national treasure. Mighty buttresses support a beautiful net vault, the result, a mediaeval atmosphere. In the half-light, there are various side altars and many splendid murals. In the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries the city was one of Europe’s most important centres of trade due to the trade routes that crossed here between Hungary and Poland. A mighty ring wall, with only two exits, protected the nearby Spišská Kapitula Church. The Romanesque Martin Basilica is the most important building in the complex which was founded in 1198. Of the former thirteen Gothic altars, five remain. Finally, both Levoča and Spišská Kapitula have managed to survive Turkish invasion, various sieges mounted by the troops of the Habsburgs, and numerous deadly plagues!

Slovakia's Night Sky with Milky Way - Timelapse Video - 4K
Slovakia's Poloniny Dark-Sky Park is the first dark sky park in Slovakia. It became the 20th dark sky park in the world. Natural total night darkness, which would be unaffected by artificial light, no longer exists in Slovakia because of light pollution, but there are still places where this influence is minimal. East Slovakia with its Carpathian Wooden Churches (UNESCO World Heritage Site) consists of nine wooden religious buildings constructed between the 16th and 18th centuries in eight different locations in Slovakia and most of them can be found in wonderfully dark places with minimal light pollution, so beautiful #MilkyWay and spectacular #NightSky can be seen and captured there too.
UNESCO World Heritage Site - Castle of Spiš is the largest medieval castle compound in central Europe along with the little town of Spišské Podhradie (with typical Renaissance and Baroque burgher houses), the Church town of Spišská Kapitula (including several sacral monuments and above all the impressing two tower cathedral of St Martin). Well conserved monuments along with the charming natural setting of the travertine territory of the National Nature Reserve Dreveník forms a unique whole and all of that is part of this night sky timelapse together with Ľubovňa Castle - Ľubovniansky hrad - Historical castle built at turn of 13th & 14th century on limestone cliff of 711 m over Stará Ľubovňa town & iconic Trencin castle.

Zehra (Slovakia) Travel - Spis Castle
Take a tour of Spis Castle in Zehra, Slovakia -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats.
The blue of the sky, the green of the turf, and the gray of the Spis Castle cause it to stand out on the landscape.
This large medieval fortress occupies a patch of high ground near the small Slovakian village of Zehra.
Though the castle lies partially in ruins, the parts that are standing demonstrate a magnificent architecture.
Built in the 12th century, Spis Castle has been the home of Hungarian kings and various noble families
In the centuries following its construction, different owners have added different features and buildings to it.
After reconstruction efforts in the 20th century, Spis Castle became a UNESCO World Heritage site.
