HAMBURG, EXPLORING the famous RED LIGHT DISTRICT, Germany
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's go for a walk around Hamburg's world famous red light district on a warm Saturday autumn night.
Hamburg, a major port city in northern Germany, is connected to the North Sea by the Elbe River. It's crossed by hundreds of canals, and also contains large areas of parkland. Near its core, Inner Alster lake is dotted with boats and surrounded by cafes. The city's central Jungfernstieg boulevard connects the Neustadt (new town) with the Altstadt (old town), home to landmarks like 18th-century St. Michael’s Church.
Germany is a Western European country with a landscape of forests, rivers, mountain ranges and North Sea beaches. It has over 2 millennia of history. Berlin, its capital, is home to art and nightlife scenes, the Brandenburg Gate and many sites relating to WWII. Munich is known for its Oktoberfest and beer halls, including the 16th-century Hofbräuhaus. Frankfurt, with its skyscrapers, houses the European Central Bank.

FC St. Pauli – Germany’s Progressive, Punk Soccer Club
FC St. Pauli is Germany's favorite second division club. This is due in large part to the progressive vision of the club and its supporters, which have fought against racism, sexism and fascism. Ardent fans and a punk attitude alone don’t make for a winning soccer club, however, and St. Pauli has been faced with the modern sporting realities of sponsorship contracts, marketing plans and business lounges. Now on the verge of falling to the third division, the club looks to balance profitability with the social responsibility that grew its fan base. We check in with fans, players and legends to see how St. Pauli plans to navigate the landscape of modern European soccer.

This tour continues the walk from the centre and Speicherstadt on the same day ( or in the sun one day later (
It's a windy day so we return to the city and go up the stairs from the Landungsbrücken to St. Pauli.
On this weekday it's fairly quiet giving the famous St. Pauli district a special, almost deserted vibe. We explore some side streets and backs of buildings and end the walk going up and down the Reeperbahn finishing at the Beatles statue.

Hello, my name is Zack, and I like to (*don't forget the pause*) backpack around the world! I am from Memphis, Tennessee. I have had the travel bug my whole life. I used to go on month long trips with my grandparents to Western USA when I was a kid. Fast forward to summer 2013, we went to Disney World and I went to the Canadian Pavilion at Epcot and saw the O' Canada 360 Circlevision film and I was like, I want to go to Canada!. Summer 2014 I took a roadtrip up to Toronto, Ontario. Since then I've been traveling around the world.
St. Pauli Piers - Walking Tour, Hamburg, Germany 4K UHD
St. Pauli Piers- Walking Tour, Hamburg, Germany 4K UHD
The St. Pauli Piers are the largest landing place in the Port of Hamburg, Germany, and also one of Hamburg's major tourist attractions.
The piers are located in the St. Pauli area of Hamburg, between the lower harbour and the Fischmarkt (Fish Market), on the banks of the Elbe river.
The eastern end of the building complex is marked by the Pegelturm (water level tower). Halfway up the tower, there is a water level indicator built into the wall, which indicates the current stage of the tides.
The first pier here was built in 1839 at what was then the edge of the harbour.
It served as a terminal for steamships, which could be relatively easily filled with coal here.
The pier ensured a sufficient security distance from the city, since these ships were fueled by coal which presented a fire risk. The current piers built in 1907 consist of floating pontoons, which are accessible from land by ten movable bridges.
The 688 metres (2,257 ft) long landing place originally served the passenger steamers of the overseas lines.
Among others, the great Hapag-Lloyd liners landed here.
Today only the HADAG ferries, harbour tour ships and motor launches, passenger ships serving the lower Elbe, and catamarans to Stade and Helgolandstill travel to the piers.
Ships travel from here daily to the musical island of the concert, The Lion King.
The old piers were destroyed during the Second World War, so today's pontoons were rebuilt between 1953 and 1955.
The last section destroyed in the War, between bridges 2 and 3, was not rebuilt until 1976.
During the modernisation begun in 1999, the roofing and lighting were updated.
Part of this modernisation is planned to include replacing bridge 7.
The Landungsbrücken today form a central transportation hub, with S-Bahn, U-Bahn and ferry stations, and are also a major tourist magnet with numerous restaurants and departure points for harbour pleasure boats.
There is an entrance to the Old Elbe tunnel at the western end of the Landungsbrücken.

Because the biggest match in German football this year isn't in the Bundesliga, but the 2nd division, between two of the biggest, most passionate and unique supporter bases in the country who haven't met in 7 and a half years.

One of Hamburg's oldest and largest sewerage systems is near the Landungsbrücken.
It is part of the Stadtwasserkunst designed by William Lindley in 1842.
The Geest-Stammsiel collects sewage from far parts of the city before it is transported under the Elbe to the main purification plant Köhlbrandhöft on the opposite side of the Elbe, by means of a pumping station about 100 m upstream of the old Elbe tunnel.
The sluice can be travelled by boat. For the rowing trips of Kaiser Willhelm II, a separate underground dock was constructed, viewable by appointment.

St Pauli Reeperbahn Tour Hamburg October 2015
Thank you to Sebastian from Hamburg Steps for an amazing tour of St Pauli Reeperbahn in Hamburg, Germany. October 2015. We all loved our “local insider’s” guided tour of St. Pauli & Reeperbahn, Hamburg’s popular district lined with clubs, pubs, shopping and restaurants. Sebastian explained to us about the areas and times where prostitution is legal. We saw the famous Davidwache police station and the Star Club where the Beatles played from 1962-1964. I highly recommend his tour.
Our dinner at The East Restaurant was fantastic and I was told it is one the most acclaimed restaurants in the Reeperbahn among locals.

Places to see in ( Hamburg - Germany ) St Pauli
Places to see in ( Hamburg - Germany ) St Pauli
Lively bars and nightclubs draw partygoers to Reeperbahn, the main thoroughfare of St. Pauli’s raucous red-light district. Off the main street, theaters like Schmidts Tivoli and Operettenhaus present cabaret shows and musicals. The nearby Karolinenviertel neighborhood is known for its hip local fashion boutiques and trendy cafes. Lined with fish restaurants, the St. Pauli Piers offer sightseeing boat tours.
Reeperbahn, St. Pauli football and the harbour: These major attractions have shaped the quarter into what it is today — loud, flashy, flamboyant, hip, different and above all, colourful. When it comes to famous St. Pauli residents, the Beatles are usually the first to come to mind! Visit the Beatlesplatz square and see where the band started their stellar career. Ever since the swinging sixties, music has played an important part in St. Pauli. The annual Reeperbahn Festival in September is the perfect way to get an overview of the quarter’s many live music venues. Catch some of the greatest international artists as well as upcoming bands from the vibrant local scene! Even more popular, the Schlagermove parade attracts up to half a million party people every year.
The Reeperbahn street's flashing neon lights attract partygoers and culture-lovers alike to the many clubs, bars, theatres, musicals and live music venues that stand side by side on this dazzling street. You can still sense a special kind of maritime atmosphere in the small bars along the side streets of the Reeperbahn and, of course, along the banks of the Elbe river. The Panoptikum wax museum is home to lifelike lookalikes of Hamburg and international celebrities.
Next to the massive St. Pauli bunker you'll find the Heiligengeistfeld square, where Hamburg DOM, Northern Germany’s biggest fun fair, is held three times a year. Closer to the Elbe river, at the Landungsbrücken piers, tourists enjoy fish sandwiches while watching majestic cruise and container ships sail by. From there, you can embark on a harbour cruise or take a ferry over to the south bank of the river. The Old Elbe Tunnel is another major sight and provides great photo opportunities.
North of Landungsbrücken, the Planten un Blomen park has more to offer than its welcoming green areas. Right in the middle of the city, the water fountains, the Japanese gardens, the minigolf lot and the ice-skating rink make this park a perfect place to relax from the inner-city stress.
Just north of Heiligengeistfeld, the narrow streets of the Karolinenviertel neighbourhood offer many small boutiques and cafes for your shopping pleasure. Here, it's near impossible to miss Hamburg’s highest building, the Heinrich-Hertz TV tower. The tower has an impressive overall height of 279 metres. The platform at 128 metres is currently being renovated, so that someday a new cafe or restaurant will hopefully open its doors there. The TV-tower is located next to the Messehallen convention centre. About 40 trade shows attract 700,000 visitors every year. The Congress Centre Hamburg is located on the other side of the park, just next to Dammtor station. Together, they make Hamburg a first-class destination for international business visitors.
( Hamburg - Germany ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Hamburg . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Hamburg - Germany
