Woy Woy - The Venice of Australia
An area of considerable beauty, Woy Woy on the Central Coast is a quiet, easily accessible town with a relaxed seaside charm.
A town in the Gosford area, Woy Woy was first settled in the 1820s, and the local timbers, felled by timber getters and convicts, were used for boat building. Since the rail line opened from Sydney in 1888, Woy Woy has also been a tranquil stopping point for many travellers and tourists.
Activities around this area include boating, swimming, fishing and exploring the surrounding waterways and national parks. Take a walk from Pearl Beach to Patonga, glimpsing the fine ocean panorama through the beautiful Red Gums of Brisbane Water. Staples Lookout also offers a fantastic view of Brisbane Water and Woy Woy Bay. There is also a bike track, known as Tommo's Loop, which begins from the lookout and lets you take in the views as you wind down the ridge.
Choose from a range of tours, including fishing charters, walks and ferry rides to explore the many natural attractions. To sample the area's enviable tranquilty, go it alone and hire a houseboat.
For beautiful, fresh seafood and fine cuisine, The Boathouse and The Fisherman's Wharf both offer a great dining experience on the water's edge.
When in town, visit the Gnostic Corner shops for New Age gifts and readings, delicious healthy food, natural healing and yoga classes.

Archaeologist Report 28 / 2 / 2013
Fake UFO engraving at Kariong
The area around Kariong, on the NSW Central Coast, is rich in Aboriginal rock engravings. Many of these were recorded by government surveyor W.D. Campbell in the late 19th century.
Recently a video and photos of parts of the engraving of a whale recorded by Campbell have been used by a group who are researching what they allege to be connections between extraterrestrial visitors to Kariong in the deep past, Aboriginal evolution and Egyptian visitors several thousands of years ago (see Egyptians in Australia: Parts 1- 6 [especially Part 6] at youtube.com/watch?v=iLIvM1jBvRs ).
Their reports say that the engraving depicts a UFO and resembles an engraving of what they also say is a UFO at the so-called Egyptian hieroglyph site about a kilometre away. They do not mention that the rock engraving they depict is actually only a section of a whale engraving or that it had been recorded by Campbell.
Recently a discussion group to which I belong has visited the site of the engraving recorded by Campbell (Campbell 1899 Figure 9, Plate 27) (located at .....) in order to ascertain whether or not it is the same one used by the Egyptians in Australia group. We were able to do so and to ascertain that, so far, the engraving has not been damaged. The video report of one of our visits is at and two photos are attached to this email.
Members of our group have several times encountered people on the way to or from both the so-called Egyptian hieroglyph site and what they call the UFO engraving (or carving).
Although no damage has so far been done to the whale engraving it has been reported that at a number of other sites the outlines of individual figures have recently been scratched around (see attached photos).
I am taking it upon myself to inform potentially interested parties who may not know of these happenings and may wish to take the matter further.

Darkingjung Local Aboriginal Land Council report
Thank you for your recent email concerning the false reporting of an Aboriginal rock engraving at Kariong on the NSW Central Coast as a UFO.
I have recently inspected the site mentioned, along with Brad Welsh, Aboriginal Heritage Conservation Officer Gosford and Laurie Pascoe Ranger BWNP from NPWS Gosford.
The site was heavily wet with water and as a result we are of the conclusion that the site is as originally recorded, a whale.
I hope this reassures you about the authenticity of the site in relation to Aboriginal Cultural Heritage and that Darkinjung LALC along with NPWS are working together to protect and maintain the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage of the Central Coast.

The Gosford Glyphs were a bit hard to find, luckyly we came accross the daughter of the property owner and she knew where it was, thanks again! Some say the Gosford Glyphs could be authentic Egyptian hieroglyphs and over 5000 years old.
