Pueblo Plant Protects Colorado's Blue Skies
The Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant's Agent Filtration Area (AFA) cascading ventilation system helps protect Colorado's blue skies. The AFA will collect air from the two main processing buildings (the Agent Processing Building and the Enhanced Reconfiguration Building) during chemical weapons disassembly and agent neutralization to remove any toxic agents and other vapors from air circulating within the buildings and equipment. Controlled air will flow from the non-contaminated areas to the less contaminated to the most contaminated areas in the plant. This is called cascading ventilation. Air is then pulled out of the buildings and passed through the filter system using carbon absorber cells that will ensure air is filtered before it is released into the atmosphere.
PCAPP is a state-of-the-art facility that is safely destroying the chemical weapons stockpile at the depot in Pueblo, Colorado.
