Baku Boulevard-Dənizkənarı Milli Park:
Baku Boulevard (Azerbaijani: Dənizkənarı Milli Park, also known as National Park) is a promenade established in 1909 which runs parallel to Baku's seafront. Its history goes back more than 100 years, to a time when Baku oil barons built their mansions along the Caspian shore and when the seafront was artificially built up inch by inch.
The park stretches along a south-facing bay on the Caspian Sea. It traditionally starts at Freedom Square continuing west to the Old City and beyond. Since 2012, the Yeni Bulvar (new boulevard) has virtually doubled the length to 3.75 km, extending the promenades to National Flag Square. In 2015 White City Boulevard added a further 2 km to the east of Freedom Square and reports have suggested that eventually the boulevard might be as long as 26 km, including Bibiheybət.
In 2010, a multi-story shopping mall Park Bulvar, Baku Business Centre and 5D cinema were opened in this promenade as part of Government's regeneration policy to boost shopping and leisure in Baku.
In 2012, after Azerbaijan's victory in Eurovision Song Contest 2011, the boulevard extended towards Bayil settlement, where National Flag Square unveiled. Confirmed by the Guinness Book of Records, the flag flies on a pole 162 meters high and measures 70 by 35 meters which makes it the world's highest flag. Baku Crystal Hall, which hosted Eurovision Song Contest 2012, is located next to it.
In 2014, the 60-metre (197 ft) tall Baku Ferris Wheel opened in the new section of the Boulevard.
In 2014, the new building of the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum was constructed at the Boulevard.
In 2015, Stone Chronicle Museum, “XX-XXI Century Azerbaijani painting” Museum and Yarat Contemporary Art Center were opened at the Boulevard.[19] Additionally, opening ceremonies of Water Sports Palace and White City Boulevard were held in 2015.
In 2016, the new section of the Boulevard saw the opening of Baku's first open-air cinema.
The square has often been the scene of public meetings, cultural gatherings, celebrations, ceremonies, parades, concerts and has lately become the venue for the city's extensive New Year celebrations.Wikipedia

AZERBAIJAN - Mystery of the Sunken Sabayil Castle, BAKU.

Mystery of the Sunken Sabayil Castle
BAYIL TOWER in B A K U - around which only legends were wandering yesterday - has become a historical truth today.
The mysterious Sabayil castle has appeared in Azerbaijani history for centuries.
Throughout the millennia, the water level of the Caspian has fluctuated dramatically. From 1723 up until the early 20th century, the sea level was receding. Beginning in the 1930s, it became possible to see the ruins of a castle underwater. In quiet weather, people could tell that the castle had stone tablets with writing on them. Sabayil was no longer just a legend - it was a real castle, built on a small island in the Baku bay, about 300 meters offshore.
How did the original castle called Bayil Gasri disappear? According to ancient chronicles, there was a large earthquake in the Caspian Sea in 1306. Perhaps the sea level rose enough to submerge the castle and the island it was built on.
The Institute of History at the Academy of Science researched the fortress, a project that took 30 years (1939 to 1969). Researchers found that even basic questions were difficult to answer, such as: What was it for? When was it built? Who built it?
The 180 x 40 m castle had a trapezoidal shape that extended from north to south. Surrounding the castle were walls with semi-circular towers that probably served as watchtowers. The castle's walls were 1 1/2 to 2 meters thick, which suggests that the building may have been used as a defense tower, just like Baku's famed Maiden's Tower.
Al-Bakuvi, a native of Baku, wrote in 1430 in his Kitab-talkhis el-asar ve el-melik el-gahhar: Baku has two castles, very strong, built of stone. One of them is very large and on the shore [Maiden's Tower]. This is the castle that the Mongols could not conquer. The other is further offshore. Its upper parts have been destroyed.

Tigranakert : An Armenian Odyssey Part 2
Chronicles the discovery of an ancient Armenian city on territory occupied by Armenian forces since the Karabagh war.
According to historians there were as many as 5 major cities built by Tigran the Great at various strategic positions throughout the Armenian Empire, ranging from Lebanon to the Caspian Sea. Each of these cities was named after the king -- Tigranakert. The greatest Tigranakert, the capitol of the realm and the residence of Tigran himself, is widely believed to have been in the vicinity of modern Diyarbakir.
Of the several Tigranakerts, the general locations of only two of them have ever been known for sure - the Tigranakert near Diyarbakir and the Tigranakert of Artsakh - but archaeologists have never been able to find their remains.
This film is about the rediscovery of the Tigranakert of Artsakh, located in the present day Agdam region currently controlled by the Republic of Nagorno-Karabagh. For an exact map location please see the Recording Date and Location info in the Statistics and Date tab, right beneath the ratings box.
The existence of the Tigranakert of Artsakh has never been a secret, though its precise location has never been revealed until now. Historical evidence can be found in the works of the 7th century historians Sebeos and Movses Kaghankatvatsi. Sebeos makes repeated references to the Tigranakert of Artsakh, or Utik (the classical Armenian name of the province just east of Artsakh where the city is located), and Kaghankatvatsi, in his History of Aghvank, makes mention of 'T'grakerti Vank (monastery)' and its head priest: archeologists believe the church they discovered just beneath the fortress of Tigranakert, as seen in the film, is most likely this very same monastery.
Additional historical evidence of Tigranakert of Artsakh/Utik includes a 13th century inscription at the famous Gandzasar monastery left by a pilgrim from 'Tigranakert'.
According to Hamlet Petrosian, as late as the 15th century the area where the fortress has been found was called 'T'krakert' or 'Tarnayurt'; corruptions of the original name which had been kept alive by locals long after the city itself had disappeared. (Similarly, 'Diyarbakir' is a corrupted form of Tigranakert as well.)
Finally, another bit of corroborative evidence not mentioned in the film is a coin of Tigran the Great that was found in this same area many years ago, now on display at the history museum in nearby Stepanakert.

SUMMARY
=======
The history of the Jews in Turkey (Turkish: Türkiye Yahudileri, Turkish Jews; Hebrew: יהודים טורקים Yehudim Turkim, Ladino: Djudios Turkos) covers the 2,400 years that Jews have lived in what is now Turkey. There have been Jewish communities in Asia Minor since at least the 5th century BCE and many Spanish and Portuguese Jews expelled from Spain were welcomed into the Ottoman Empire (including regions part of modern Turkey) in the late 15th century, 20 centuries later, forming the bulk of the Ottoman Jews.
Today, the vast majority of Turkish Jews live in Israel, while modern-day Turkey continues to host a modest Jewish population.
