The Swallowtail butterfly is arguably the UK's most exotic butterfly species. This short video shows several Swallowtails basking in the sunshine and feeding voraciously from flowers.
It was recorded near Strumpshaw Fen in Norfolk on 8 June 2008, during an outing from my home patch in Hampshire.

Strumpshaw Fen & Buckenham Marshes Montage [Rough Primary Edit]
Sincerest apologies that this video is so long and therefore a bit tedious... I needed to get something uploaded as quickly as possible in order to pass on the link. As a result, I am struggling to trim it down to a more conservative length!
Anyway, so, I went out to RSPB Strumpshaw Fen and RSPB Buckenham Marshes on Monday, the 26th of January, and it was my first decent planned trip out to the wild of the year. Highlights of the day included an over-wintering Chiff-chaff spotted straight away behind Brundall station as soon as we alighted the train, and then, a little later, some nice Bullfinch encounters and Chinese water deer cameos. In the afternoon, we headed over to Buckenham and managed to see White-fronted geese, Golden plover and Ruff... but they were too distant to get on film. Unfortunately, we couldn't stay for the corvid roost, but before we headed back, amongst the fantastic numbers of Teal and Wigeon, and right in front of the reserve's one and only hide, we saw a Water pipit. We identified it as a Meadow pipit in the field, but I am now quite confident that it is it's rarer cousin. Feel free to say yay or nay in the comments below though! (Just please explain why!)
