Island - A landi og ì vatni -- Iceland - on land and underwater
Iceland – on land and underwater, a movie from my round trip on Iceland. Footage of stunning icelandic landscapes mixed with wide angle underwater footage of the continental crack Silfra, the thermal chimneys of Strytan, several thermal lakes, the world war II wreck El Grillo and the lovely traffic lights of Akureyri.
Enjoy!

Dive to hot springs in Eyjafjordur, Iceland
Eyjafjordur is the fjord north of Akureyri. The dive took place in September 2015. A number of wolffish are at the bottom of a small geothermal chimney, which you can see in the video.
Diving the Strytan Hot Vent
This is my first underwater video shot on a GoPro2.
The Strytan Hot Vent System is an underwater site in Iceland where geothermal water enters the ocean through a crack in the ground. Over millions of years the minerals in the water have accumulated to form the main (50m high) and several small chimneys. This system is simmilar to the Black smokers found along deep sea ridges, but unlike its cousins at several thousand meters depth it is the only (yet known) feature of this kind that is acessable by SCUBA gear.
Notice the hot water (around 70 C) streaming into the surrounding cold Atlantic (watch in high res). And yes, we made some nice Hot Chocolate from the vent water.
Many thanks to Erlendur and his divebase Strytan.is making these trips possible.
Arctic Whale Watching from Dalvik close to Akureyri north Iceland
Arctic Whale watching from Dalvik close to Akureyri north Iceland with Arctic Sea Tours is adventure on sea. Great sighting success and five stars on TripAdvisor. Whale watching takes place in the picturesque landscape of Eyjafjordur and fishing inside the majestic mountains of Tröllaskagi just short off the Arctic Circle.
Whale watching is an activity you should not miss out on! In Dalvík you have an exceptionally good chance to encounter the great humpback whale and often we spot white-beaked dolphins, minke whales, the small harbor porpoises and sometimes even the majestic blue whale. Overall we have seen whales or dolphins in 98% of our whale watching tours. The whale watching tour is built up as an adventure. So with an excellent chance of seeing whales you can also expect more fun with fishing and tasting of the freshly caught cod, haddock, pollock or atlantic catfish.
In the year 2017 from 1st May - 30th November we saw humpback whales in 99.5% of the tours, unbelievable and long may it continue.
