Summerland Sweets 50th Anniversary
Summerland Sweets is celebrating its 50th Anniversary.
The company was founded in 1962 by F.E. Atkinson who was head of Food Sciences during the early years of the Agricultural Research Station in Summerland.
Since its modest beginnings Summerland Sweets has grown considerably and now produces a full range of fruit-based products including fruit jelly candies, gourmet jams, nut brittles, gift packages and fruit syrup.
In 2008, Summerland Sweets expanded its business by adding Sleeping Giant Fruit Winery. Using classic winemaking techniques and BC grown fruit, Sleeping Giant produces a wide variety of table and dessert wines.
