Tadilat Sonrası Samatya Surp Kevork Ermeni Apostolik Kilisesi İbadete Açıldı | 13.09.2019
Uzun süredir tadilat dolayısı ile ibadete kapalı olan Samatya Surp Kevork Ermeni Apostolik kilisesi, 10 Eylül Salı günü, Türkiye Ermenileri Patriklik Kaymakamı Epis. Sahak Maşalyan riyasetinde düzenlenen ayinle yeniden kutsanarak ibadete açıldı.
Bakım ve onarım çalışmalarının tamamlanmasının ardından kiliselerinde dua etmeye gelen, Samatya halkı yanısıra diğer semtlerden de gelen yüzlerce imanlı yeniden kutsama ayininde hazır bulundu.
“Patz mez der” (Aç inayet kapını ya Rab) ilahisi ile, elinde bulunan anahtarı kilise kapısına vurarak Tanrı’ya yakarışta bulunan Epis. Maşalyan daha sonra kapıyı açarak din adamları ile içeri girdi. Bu anı hasretle bekleyen inanlı topluluk da kiliseyi bir anda doldurdu.
Daha sonra sunağa çıkılıp dualar edilirken sunaklardaki ve yan şapel sunaklarındaki haçlar iki peder tarafından temizlendi.
Ardından Episkopos Maşalyan dualar ile getirilen kutsal yağı (Müron’u) alıp Vaftiz duaları ile Sunak üzerinde kiliseyi yeniden kutsadı ve önce ana sunaktaki, sonra da yan sunaklar ve yan şapellerdeki sunakları, kutsal yağı sürerek yeniden kutsayıp ibadete edilebilmesine uygun hale getirdi.
Episkopos Maşalyan verdiği vaazda özetle; Tanrı’nın kiliselere ve kutsal mekanlara ihtiyacı olmadığını, oysa insanların mutlaka ibadethanelere ihtiyacı olduğunu, çünkü bireysel yapılan dualar ne kadar gerekli olsa da topluca Rab’be yakarışın çok önemli ve Tanrı tarafından makbul olduğunu dile getirdi.
Kilise yönetimine ve kiliseye emeği geçenlere özel teşekkürlerini sundu.
Kilisedeki duaların ardından kortej halinde ilahiler eşliğinde kilise bahçesine çıkıldı burada dualar son buldu ve tüm din adamları toplu fotoğraf çekildi.
Değabah Episkopos Sahak Maşalyan’ın riyaset ettiği ayinde, Başrahip Tatul Anuşyan, Rahip Zadik Babikyan, Rahip Harutyun Damatyan, Rahip Şınork Donikyan, kıdemli pederler Kirkor Damatyan, Antreas Hagopyan, Kevork Çınaryan, pederler Zaven Bıçakçı, Zakar Koparyan, Zohrap Civanyan, Şirvan Mürzyan, Bedros Buldukoğlu, Samatya kilisesi diakos ve mugannileri de hazır bulunup duaları okudular, ilahileri seslendirdiler.
Samatya Surp Kevork kilisesinin yeniden kutsanıp ibadete açılmasının ardından ilk kutsal sunu ayini 15 Eylül pazar günü gerçekleşecek, ayine Türkiye Ermenileri Patriklik Kaymakamı Sahak Maşalyan riyaset edecek.

Turkish Armenians work to preserve their church in Turkey
Rows of dilapidated homes that used to be part of Kayseri's Armenian quarter and housed up to 400 families now lays empty or filled by squatters. The district remains a symbol of the rough and tragic history between Armenians and Turks during the last century. A history plagued by animosity and violence.
However, a group of Anatolian Armenians (from Turkey's Asian side) prefer to look beyond the polarizing rhetoric in an attempt to preserve what remains of their history in Kayseri, a 900-year-old church.

I know the introduction sounds a bit romantic, but I can’t emphasize more that this part of Istanbul is important because Greeks, Armenians and Turks have lived in peace here for hundreds of years, and have thus become heroes of the romantic stories of Samatya.samatyaev ss1
There is only one square in Samatya that has witnessed great loves, quarrels, feuds and friendships in the past… You can smell the sea there, and maybe all those negative feelings were swept away by the sea breeze that refreshed their stories and gave them hope…
As for the name Samatya, I would like to utter a few words also. The origin of the name is Psomatia, a greek word that means beach or sand..Most probably at the time of Byzantion, the sea was bringing heavy sand to the shores of Samatya.. And naturally the name also gradually changed in time.YedikuleIn the western part of Samatya stands Yedikule and in the east it is Yenikapi. The wind brings in the smell of sea into the market and the craftsmen are always in a good mood here.
Besides the historic buildings and churches, the hundreds-of-years-old taverns are one more reason to visit this place.
safaDuring the season when there is too much fish the anchovies and palometa are replaced with blue fish. Visit the stalls of the fishermen Sadetin and Thomas to have a look at the fish. If you need a rest visit Safa, a hundred years old tavern. If you crave shellfish (if you don’t than you should) visit Midyeci Arap, a restaurant specialized in preparing shellfish pan and stuffed mussels (midye dolma).
Safa was built in 1895 and a Greek man ran the restaurant. In this beautiful, historic place with a high ceiling you must try Albanian liver.
After we have filled the stomach, it is time to get to know the place. On Marmara avenue you will find Surp Kevork church (water church), which is one of the most important and prestigious Byzantine churches of that era. The garden has a beautiful well that has given the church its popular name. It is believed that this water can heal eye diseases. In 1461 the monastery was given to the Armenian community and it was the seat of the Armenian Patriarchate. In 1866 years a huge fire burnt it to the ground but then it was rebuilt.Armenian patriarchate
“Mati” means eye in Greek, so if you have time visit Mati cafè located under an old Greek house, featuring an interesting, authentic interior. Make sure to visit Yedikule where their famous breakfast is accompanied by fresh salads seasoned with dill and basil. Unfortunately, the orchards and gardens where people grew vegetables have been lost under the wheels of capitalism.
St. Mina is another old church. It is said to be originating from the 4th or 5th century AD. The graves of two saints, Karpos and Papilos, are there. Next in line is Aga Hamam built by Mimar Sinan. The bath was built in 1542 but then it was left to its fate. In 2008 it was restored, but since it was rented to a private entity it is no longer in use. I would really like to introduce you to the many bars in this place, especially to a very popular kebab restaurant, but I will not get into those things. We started off with fish we will end the day with fish.ss4There is a Fish Museum in this area that I haven’t visited yet. I think that is the only museum in the country dedicated to fish. It is located in a fish shelter in Kocamustafapasa. Mr. Haydar Deniz is founder of the museum so we can assume that he admires fish. Also we can assume that he had no support from the state or the private sector. The museum is a result of his personal effort and I plan to visit it to see the 650 species of marine life. I hope that in the future there will be more things to be seen here…

Samatya is a quarter of the Fatih district of Istanbul. It is located along the Marmara Sea, and borders to the west on the neighborhood of Yedikule Contents
Samatya, batisinda Yedikule, dogusunda Yenikapi, carsi Pazar deniz kokar ruzgarli havalarda ve esnaf hep sicaktir bu meydanda..Romantik bir giris oldu biliyorum ama yuzyillar boyunca Rum, Ermeni ve Turkler baris icinde yasamislar ve Samatya’ya dair romantik hikayelerin kahramanlari olmuslar.
Tek bir meydani var tarihde ne olaylara sahne olmus, asklara, kavgalara, dusmanliklara dostluklara ama hep deniz kokmus belki de olumsuz herseyi denizden gelen ruzgar alip goturmus, tazelemis her daim insanlarin gecmislerini, umut vermis.
Semt tarihi binalarinin ve kiliselerinin disinda yuzyillik meyhaneleri ile de ziyaret etmek icin dayanilmaz baska bir sebep veriyor. Baligin bollasmaya basladigi zaman, palamut sardalya yerini lufere birakiyor, Balikci Sadetin ve Tomaya ugrayip balik tezgahlarina bir goz atilabilir, eve gidene kadar dayanmak mumkun degilse 100 yillik SAFA Meyhanesinde demlenebilir, veya caniniz midye cektiyse ( cekmediyse de cektirin ) sadece midye dolma ve tava yapan Midyeci Arapa ugrayabilirsiniz.
Safa Meyhanesi 1895 yilinda yapilmis ve bir Rum isletmeci tarafindan isletilirmis, yuksek tavanli bu tarihi mekanda da hersey guzel olsa da arnavut cigeri mutlaka soylenmeli..

Marmara Caddesi uzerinde Surp Kevork Kilisesi ( Sulu Manastir )zamanin en onemli ve gozterisli Bizans kiliselerinden bir tanesi. Bahcesinde guzel bir ayazmasi var. Bu yuzden sulu manastir olarak adlandiriliyor, bu suyun goz hastaliklarina iyi geldigine inaniliyor. 1461 yilinda Ermeni cemaatine Patrikhane kilisesi olarak verilen manastir 1866 da yanmis ve sonra tekrar insa edilmis.
Matya ,Rumca Goz demek, vaktiniz olursa eski bir Rum evinin altinda ilginc dekorasyonu olan otantik bir cafe Matya”da ugranmali.. Artik coktan yok olmus olan Yedikule bostanlarindan gelen taze kivircik reyhan dereotu esliginde kahvatisi meshurdu, ama maalesef kapitalizmin carklarina kurban ettik bu bostanlari bu yaz..
Bir diger eski kilise is Aya Menas, 4 veya 5. Yuzyildan kaldigi soyleniyor. Iki azizin (Karpos ve Papilos) mezarlari burada..Ve sirada bir Mimar Sinan eseri Aga Hamami..1542 senesinde yapilan bu cifte hamam da uzun seneler kaderine terk edilip 2008 yilinda restore ediliyor ancak sahsa kiralandigindan kullanilmiyor. Daha pek cok mekani tanitmak isterdim size aslinda kebapcisi da unlu bu semtin ama hic o sulara girmeyip balikla basladik balikla bitirmek istiyorum bu yaziyi.

Mardin
Mardin is a city in southeastern Turkey. The capital of Mardin Province, it is known for the Artuqid (Artıklı or Artuklu in Turkish) architecture of its old city, and for its strategic location on a rocky hill near the Tigris River that rises steeply over the flat plains.
Mardin is one of the oldest settled areas in upper Mesopotamia. Excavations done in the 1920s discovered remains in the area that dated to 4000 BCE. The first known civilization were the Subarians who were then succeeded in 3000BCE by the Hurrians. The Elamites gained control around 2230 BCE. and were followed by the Babylonians, Hittites, Assyrians, Romans and Byzantines.
In 692, the Muslim Ummayads arrived and introduced Islam. The Abbasid Caliphate based in Baghdad replaced them in 824. Factions of the Seljuk Turks fought each other over Mardin as it changed hands many times before it was finally taken by Nahm ad-din Ilghazi, the bey of the Artukids, a Turkish dynasty founded by the Seljuk Emir Artuk. During the Artukid period, many of Mardin's historic buildings were constructed, including several Mosques, Palaces, Madrassas and Hans.
The lands of the Artukid dynasty fell to the Mongols sometime between 1235 and 1243, but the Mongols never directly governed the area. The Artukid family ruling Mardin became vassal state of the Mongol Empire. During the battle of Ain Jalut in 1260, the Artuqid (Artık) ruler revolted against the Mongol rule. Hulegu's general and Chupan's ancestor, Koke-Ilge of the Jalayir, stormed the city and Hulegu appointed the rebel's son, al-Nasir, governor of Mardin. Although, Hulegu suspected the latter's loyalty for a while, thereafter the Artukids remained loyal unlike nomadic Bedoun and Kurd tribes in the south western frontier. The Mongol Ilkhanids considered them important allies. For this loyalty they shown, Artukids were given more lands in 1298 and 1304. Mardin later passed to the Akkoyunlu, a federation of Turkic tribes that controlled territory all the way to the Caspian Sea. In 1517, Mardin was annexed by the Ottomans under Selim the Grim. During this time, Mardin was administered by a governor directly appointed under the Ottoman Sultan's authority. In 1923, with the founding of the Republic of Turkey, Mardin was made the administrative capital of a province named after it.Mardin has often been considered an open air museum due to its historical architecture. Most buildings use the beige colored limestone rock which has been mined for centuries in quarries around the area.

Zinciriye Medrese (Sultan Isa Medrese) - Constructed in 1385 by Najm ad-din Isa. The madrasa is part of a complez that includes a Mosque and the tomb of Najm ad-din Isa.
Sitti Radviyye Medrese (Hatuniye Medrese) - built in the 12th century in the honor of Sitti Radviyye, the wife of Najm ad-din Alpi. There is a footprint that is claimed to be that to be that of the Prophet Muhammad.
Kasımiye Medrese - construction started by the Artukids and completed by the Akkoyunlu under Sultan Kasım. It has an adjoining Mosque and a Dervish lodge.

Deyrü'z-Zafaran Monastery - The Syriac Orthodox Saffron Monastery was founded in 439 AD and is one of the oldest monasteries in the world and the only one that is still functioning in southern Turkey. From 1160 until 1932, it was the seat of the Syriac Orthodox Patriarch, until the Patriarchate relocated to the Syrian capital Damascus. The site of the monastery itself is said to have been used as a temple by sun worshipers as long ago as 2000 BC.

Mardin's economy is based on agriculture and mining with most of the industry based on the manufacture of building materials. Tourism has increased rapidly in recent years. Traditional handicrafts produced in Mardin are Saddles, Carpets, Pottry, Leatherware and Silverware.

Orthodox Armenians in Turkey selected their spiritual leader on Wednesday (December 11) at the Armenian Patriarchal Church in the Kumkapı neighborhood of Istanbul.

Patriarchate’s Locum Tenens Bishop Sahak Mashalian was elected the 85th Armenian Patriarch of Constantinople by secular and religious delegates after all votes were counted in the last round of elections.
Bishop Sahak Mashalian previously served as the Locum Tenens of the Armenian Patriarchate of Istanbul.
Speaking to reporters following the announcement of the election results, newly elected Patriarch Mashalian said as the largest non-Muslim community in Turkey, Armenians are the 'colours of the human mosaic of the country'.
“It is very important that these elections can be hold in the context of the consolidation of the culture of living together, being a modern society with pluralism and polyphony,” said the new Patriarchate.
“It is a source of pride for us that peace, tolerance and political maturity are exhibited in our country in these days when the world is thrown into violence,” he said.
Mashalian also said the Armenian community will continue to contribute to the common civilization of Turkey as in the past.
The elections of the Armenian Patriarch of Constantinople are held in three stages.
On 7 December the General Religious Assembly elected the 17 religious delegates.
On 8 December Istanbul Armenians cast their votes for the 103 secular delegates representing the two candidates for the post. 89 out of the 103 secular delegates supported Sahak Mashalian, while the remaining 12 – Aram Ateshian.
On Wednesday the delegates voted to elected the new Patriarch.
Former Armenian Patriarch Mesrob Mutafyan who died in March 2019 was elected as the top religious leader of the Armenian community in Turkey in 1998.
In 2008, Mutafyan suffered from health issues that prevented him to fulfill his duties.
For the first time in history, the Armenian Church in Turkey has been ruled by a deputy Patriarch since 2008.
The Armenian Patriarchate of Constantinople was traditionally established in 1461, when Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror ordered Armenians and Turks to settle inside the city of Constantinople, newly conquered by the Ottomans, and had Archbishop Hovageem (Joachim), the prelate of Bursa.

“Haçverast” adı verilen Surp Haç Yortusu, Ermeni Apostolik, Katolik ve Ortodoks kiliseleri tarafından 16 Eylül Pazar günü kutlandı.
“Haçın yeniden yüceltilmesi” anlamına gelen bu bayramda, İsa Mesih’in çarmıha gerilmiş olduğu haçın Yeruşalim’e dönüşünü anmak amacıyla kutlamalar yapılmaktadır.
Bu yıl, İstanbul Ermeni Katolik Cemaati bu bayramı, Büyükdere Surp Boğos Kilisesi, Büyükada Verapohumin Surp Asdvadzazni Kilisesi ve Kadıköy Surp Levon kilisesi’nde yapılan ayinlerle coşku ile kutladı. Surp Haç bayramı geleneğince yapılan ayinden sonra ayine katılanlara yemek verildi.
Ermeni Apostolik Kilisesi’nin 5 büyük bayramından biri olan HAÇVERATS yani Haçın yüceltilmesi, yükseltilmesi bayramı kiliselerde coşku ile kutlandı. Özellikle de toplumda mucizeler kilisesi olarak da bilinen Balat Surp Hıreşdagabed Kilisesi’nde, Patriklik Ruhani Kurul Başkanı Episkopos Sahak Maşalyan riyasetinde, Peder Bedros Buldukyan'ın sunduğu kutsal ayin ve kalabalık halk topluluğunun katılımıyla kutlandı. İlahileri ise kıdemli okuyucu Kevork Çağlıçubukçu yönetiminde Gedikpaşa Zıvarnots Korosu seslendirdi.
Kutsal ayin sonrası Episkopos Sahak Maşalyan Ermenice ve Türkçe olarak verdiği vaazda bu bayramın tarihsel oluşumunu, Haç'ın Hristiyanlar için anlamını, korunmasının önemini açıkladı.

An ancient Armenian church, perched on a rocky island in a vast lake, has become a modern symbol of the divisions and fitful efforts at
reconciliation between Turks and Armenians whose history of bloodshed drives their troubled relationship.
Now the church's restoration by the Turkish government is said to be an olive branch offered by Turkey to nearby Armenia.
STORYLINE :
The Akdamar church, reachable by boat from the Turkish city of Van, was one of the most precious remnants of Armenian culture 1,000 years ago.
But it has been left to deteriorate over the last century, a victim of neglect after Turks carried out mass killings of Armenians as the Ottoman Empire crumbled around the time of World War I.
Rainwater seeped through the collapsed, conical dome, treasure-hunters dug up the basalt floor, and shepherds took potshots with rifles at
the facade.
Akdamar, called the Church of Surp Khach, or Holy Cross, was inaugurated in A.D. 921.
Written records say the church was near a harbour and a palace on the island on Lake Van, but only the church survived.
Next week, the church will showcase Turkey's tentative steps to improve ties with its ethnic Armenian minority, as well as neighbouring Armenia.
Turkey completed a US$1.5 (m) million restoration of the sandstone building, and has invited Armenian officials to a ceremony there on March 29.
Renovators replaced fallen roof stones to prevent more damage to the interior, restored the floor, strengthened walls and cleaned frescoes.
But the church still bears marks of ill treatment, with graffiti scratched next to some carvings.
Inside the church, deep blue frescoes show biblical scenes, though many have been destroyed and the walls have big, blank patches.
Restoration contractor Cahit Zeydanli says he thinks the restoration should heal the ongoing rift between Turkey and Armenia.
Armenia's foreign minister has welcomed the restoration, but said Turkey mistakenly believed the project would prove that it was dedicated to better ties with its neighbour.
Turkey closed its border with Armenia in 1993 during a war between Armenia and Azerbaijan, a Muslim ally of Ankara. The move hurt the economy of tiny, landlocked Armenia.

Feriköy Surp Vartanants Kilisesi'nde Tarihi Konser | 31.05.2019
Feriköy Surp Vartanants Ermeni Apostolik kilisesinin Vartanants Korosu, kuruluşunun 110. Yıldönümünü 26 Mayıs pazar akşamı Kilise içerisinde verdiği coşkulu bir konserle kutladı.
Ermeni toplumunun yoğun ilgi gösterdiği konser Başepiskopos Aram Ateşyan, Episkopos Sahak Maşalyan ve birçok din adamının katılımının ardından Kilisenin din görevlisi Başrahip Tatul Anuşyan'ın açılış konuşması ile başladı. Şef Adruşan Hallacyan'ın yönettiği Vartanants korosuna orgda Lusi Kahvecioğlu ve Mareta Khaçadıryan eşlik ettiler. Program Gomidas Vartabed՚in ezgileri ile başlarken daha sonra değişik Ermeni kilise ilahilerinin farklı bestelerin seslendirilmesiyle konser devam etti.
Konserin sonunda ise Başepiskopos Aram Ateşyan kilise korolarının önemini vurgulayan bir konuşma yaparken Vartanants Korosunun 110. Yıldönümünü Şefleri Adruşan Hallacyan'ı ve tüm koro üyelerini kutladı. Son olarak koronun seslendirdiği Göklerdeki Babamız duası ile konser son buldu.

Geçmişte farklı isimlerle, 15. yy'dan günümüze ise Za'ferân olarak bilinen manastır 1293-1932 yılları arasında Süryani Patriklik merkezlerinden biriydi.
Deyrulumur Manastırı, Yayvantepe mahallesi yakınlarındadır. 397 yılında yapılan manastır, tarih boyunca dört farklı isimle anıldı. 615 yılından 1049 yılına kadar Turabidin Metropolitlik merkezi olan manastır, bu sıfatını 1915 yılına kadar korudu.
