Holi Tango Festival in Auroville

'Tango is not just two people dancing, it is meditation in movement' The Holi Tango Festival started on the 8th of March 2012 in Auroville and will end on the 11th. Almost 100 people, coming from Auroville and outside, registered for the festival and its different workshops. Three of the very experienced teachers are giving us an interview about the dance itself and the schedule of the festival. Health in AV and bioregion

Beside that Vani organized beautiful display of panels on Auroville and aspect of life in it, was actively involved in organization of the logistic of Auroville International meeting in Addis Abbaba in Ethiopia in the last week of December in 2011, she also presented small segment of our care for health - a dental practice in Auroville for its bioregion. As she told us it doesn't take so much of a skill for one to do the prevention work and scaling as the basic dental work in the village in the area of dental hygiene, especially with children. Urban Planning Graduate Students from Queen's University in Ontario, Canada {presented} at Multimedia Center in Town Hall {results} of their {exploration} and workshop done in past ten days. The student's project was focused on public spaces on the Crown Road from Solar Kitchen toward Arka. Ten students summarized all their findings, and clearly presented some guidelines and recommendations deriving out of their observations and specifically of Auroville as a social space on its own..

Sir Thomas Metcalf House Dilkhusha at Meharauli (Part 2)

house in Mehrauli was initially a tomb of Muhammad Quli Khan, brother of Adham Khan, a general and foster brother of Emperor Akbar. The octagonal Mughal tombbuilt in the 17th century was bought by Metcalfe and remodeled in the style of European residences with extensive gardens and follies for use as a pleasure resort during the monsoon season. He called it the ‘Dilkhusha’ (also see under External link of the album showing two pictures of Dilkusha as it existed when built). It was spread over a sprawling area, which is now enclosed in a specially developed park called the ‘Qutub Archaeological Village’. The purpose in building this place was stated to be that Metcalfe wanted to keep a watch on Emperor Bahadur Shah II who also had his Zafar Mahal palace in Mehrauli to spend his summer time.The complex was a pleasant place with several controlled streamlets of water, which led to a tank (now called the Metcalfe’s Boathouse and Dovecote). The tank was dated to the Lodi Dynasty period. This was refurbished by Metcalfe for use, for boating and swimming. Steps built from the boathouse lead to his Dilkhusha. With a retinue of servants, the immaculately kept place was stated to be an ideal setting for honeymooning couples.
