Going for Gold - Team New Brunswick Curler Rachel Brewer's Journey to the 2019 Canada Winter Games!
Mark Brewer, Digester Tech at Irving Pulp & Paper has always dreamed of the day he would cheer on his daughter Rachel at the Canada Games. That day has come.
Rachel Brewer of Quispamsis is representing Team New Brunswick in women’s curling at the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, Alberta.
Since first being introduced to curling by her father at a young age, Rachel knew that it was a sport meant for her.
“I love the teamwork, strategy, and friendships. I’ve made so many new friends in this sport, and I’m very thankful for that,” said Rachel.
From early tournaments to late night curling practices, Mark has always supported Rachel's ambitious goal of going for gold at the Canada Winter Games.
“My job at Irving Pulp and Paper gives me stability. I know that my job will be here, to allow my daughter to travel extensively to play against other teams, to get better competition and to be better at her sport. JDI has provided that for me, the security to allow her to do what she loves to do - and that’s curl.”
Rachel is set to take the ice with her team members on February 24, against Team Nova Scotia.
