Overview Edit
The City of Pacifica is spread along a six-mile (9.7-kilometre) stretch of coastal beaches and hills in north central California. The city comprises several small valleys spread between Sweeney Ridge in the east, Montara Mountain to the south, and the Pacific Ocean's rocky bluffs to the west.
Surfing at Rockaway Beach, Pacifica
Pacifica is well known regionally as a popular surfing destination. Surfers and families often visit Linda Mar Beach. Rockaway Beach is a scenic location and offers recreation, shopping and dining. 2005 marked the opening of the top ranked Pacifica Skateboard Park. Pacifica is also a popular mountain biking destination, with many trails crossing the hillsides that surround the city, including Pedro Mountain Road, Sweeney Ridge, and areas of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Fishermen frequent the local beaches and the Pacifica Pier, often catching Striped Bass and Salmon. Pacifica is also a popular place to hike, with many trails that wind along the beaches and bluffs, including Mori Point, San Pedro Valley County Park,[5] the Sanchez Adobe, Milagra Ridge, and the privately owned Pacifica quarry. For live local theater and performing arts, Pacifica Spindrift Players is a local and popular favorite, in addition to Pacifica Performances which regularly provides both musical presentations and performing arts as well. Pacifica is also home to the Sharp Park Golf Course,[6] which was designed in 1931 by architect Alister MacKenzie. The world class bromeliad nursery, Shelldance Orchid Gardens is located just off Highway 1 in Pacifica, adjacent to the Sweeney Ridge hiking trailhead.

Devil's Slide Ride 2019 - Century From Hell (Full Ride)
(Pacifica, California)
Don't forget to like and subscribe!
The Devil's Slide Ride is one of the 10 best centuries in Northern California. Starting in the seaside town of Pacifica, the ride heads south on Cabrillo Highway (CA-1) up the first climb with a CHP escort until reaching Devil's Slide Trail. There are three routes, the 40-mile ride, metric century, and the Century From Hell, which is 101 miles and 9,250 feet of elevation gain. The century is as scenic as it is challenging, taking riders along the coast, through the mountains and rolling hills of San Mateo County, returning to Pacifica after a big loop around the peninsula. The fully-supported ride has six rest stops and benefits PARCA - Partners & Advocates for Remarkable Children & Adults. See their website for more details about the ride and PARCA ( This video is a recording of the full century ride because it was just too scenic to cut out any parts. Feel free to play it at faster speeds or use the list of the climb sections below to skip around and recon.

San Francisco Watershed Ride
George Miller and Jenny Feix, docents with the San Francisco State Fish and Game Refuge, led a select group of 25 on a rare and legal ride where few people have ridden before. We rode 20 miles from the quarry near Crystal Springs Lake up to the Fifield-Cahill Ridge, then north toward Sweeney Ridge and back again. Highlights along the way included views of Pilarcitos Lake, Pacifica and San Andreas Lakes.

RIDE THE SNAKE CA 4 ONE OF THE WORLD'S GREAT MOTORCYCLE ROADS
- Notes from producer / filmmaker / rider / Richard Sweeney 03/21/2013 :
The uncanny thing about California Highway 4 which I've named 'The Snake' is that from the air and on maps the road's snake like features are apparent. The Snake runs from the intersection of US 395 on CA highways 89 and 4, West by Southwest to Bear Valley, CA approximately 32 miles. The five soon to be iconic sections of the road I've named are: 'The Rattle' (CA Hwy 89 from US 395 over Monitor Pass to the CA Hwy 4 intersection approx 11 miles ), the 'Snakes Tail' (Intersection of CA 89 & Hwy 4 to the Belly approx 8 miles), the 'Belly of the Snake' is an approx 180 degree uphill switchback. 'The Snake's Jaws' about 1 mile from the belly is a treacherous double 'S' curve without guardrails (that will bite you if you make a mistake, and the narrow twisty 'Tongue of the Snake' which runs over Ebbetts Pass about 12 miles to Bear Valley. These are real features of the road, and can be seen on road maps similar to the way they are illustrated in the Snake graphic design featured in the film. Located in California's 'Crook of the Elbow Central-Eastern region of the state near Topaz Lake, The Snake is a dangerous, narrow, sharply twisting Sierra mountain road without guard rails in many places leaving the road open to potentially disastrous plunges of a thousand of feet or more. This film Ride The Snake documents these hazards but more so shows the joy of riding this great road at speed as 3 motorcyclists tame the snake in a wide-open thrilling ride. Without doubt, The Snake CA 4 is one of the World's Great Motorcycle Roads
